Play Bar & Grill - White Oaks Resort & Spa
It was so good! Nice view of the tennis courts too. The service was a tad slow, but we still made it to our spa appointment on time. There is gluten free menu options, but it’s not as extensive as I thought it would be. (No separate grill press or deep fryer) but still some tasty options.
Amanda was our server and she was polite, professional and extraordinary in looking after my family and myself. We had 2 small children with us and Amanda was exceedingly aware of their needs. She was fantastic!
Great friendly service.
Best mussels ever!
Really enjoyed our evening!
Great service and delicious food. Will definitely be back.
I love Play. I have always enjoyed great meals and great service. I love the gluten free options.
Excellent vibe, tasty food and reasonable prices. Id definitely go back.
Impeccable service. Great cocktail list. Check out their menu! Wasn’t happy with my salad (didn’t realize there were olives in it) and they replaced it for a new meal so quickly. They apologized to me for my poor selection. Thanks so much for accomadating me.
Nice to have staff recognize you and what you drink after just a few visits. Very attentive. Great spot for kids meals
This was our 5th visit back to Play, we love this place - portion sizes are GREAT, value can’t be beat as it is tasty food! Somehow they have made Casual dining feel fancy with their ambience, large tables & little stools for your purse. Very attentive servers, we were never out of water & when we asked to split a ceaser salad to start she advised us to split the half salad and she was right - it was the perfect size for a starter! We will definitely go back again.
Charcuterie board was disappointing .. looked ok but the big hunks of cheese taste just like cut off block from Costco, crouton bread was awkward to eat because it was so hard and the olive tapenade tasted like it was mixed with mayo to spread it out more (i.e. cheaper?) You could tell the pickled veggies were straight out of the jar and there was no mayo or greens for presentation that would have made it look a little nicer.
NOW the kids pasta dinner was a big hit! Good serving size, nice garlic bread (only slightly burnt).
Probably would have spent more buying glasses of wine but service was a little slow this time
Great space for business meetings, large tables, respectful staff
Food seemed average at best for the tomato soup and flatbread margarita pizza we had.
Service tonight was exceptionally slow, but the wait staff and manager were very prompt in addressing the issue with us. Once our meal arrived, it was very tasty and full of flavor.
Casual uninterrupted space for drinks and visit with friends
Five of us had delicious lunches in a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and efficient and we lingered - long past the point that they should have been flicking the lights on and off. We’ll go back
It was a great meal but it took a long time to be served despite the place being empty. I would definitely come back again though because the food and variety offered made up for it.
Great kids meals for $10 with elegant presentation
Our server was very friendly and patient with us just hanging out with our drinks and food. Mixed greens salad is fabulous!
Casual elegance, delicious food and great service. We loved the complimentary stack of housemade chips and dip that were served to enjoy while our meal was being prepared! Our party ordered ordered their Pressed Parm (chicken parmesan) with a Baked Sweet Potato and a Heineken beer; California Club with a Caesar Salad and a Diet Pepsi; and the Pressed Turkey with a modified Caesar Salad (substituted Dressing with raspberry vinaigrette) paired with a glass of Peller Estates Chardonnay. So good!
Staff were very friendly and accommodating when we were late. Mussels were great, generous serving. Fresh potato chips and dip are always amazing!
Cole was our server and he was EXCELLENT. The food was fantastic— I had the fish tacos and my spouse had the vegan sandwich with a side lentil salad, both delicious. We went for our anniversary and were immediately offered really nice champagne. Since we were staying at White Oaks, we got 10% off! It was a fantastic experience, I highly, highly recommend Play for a special occasion or even just a nice dinner. The prices are great, the ambiance is great, fantastic food and service.
This was my first time here and I would definitely return and recommend it to others. I choose it for a Fathers Day meal because of the vegan options that the menu had. The restaurant wasn't very full because we choose to go between lunch and dinner time which made it great for us to be able to have nice conversations while watching the soccer game. The service was great and my only minor complaint about this was the fact that the waitress gave us incorrect information about our wine selection not being vegan. Overall the value was fair but I would have been content with a larger portion of the pizza for the price. The others in my dining party had the fish and chips which was a much better value. Overall it's definitely worth a visit whether for a special occasion or just an everyday meal. I will definitely be returning!
We always enjoy our meals at PLAY and the service is next to none!
We were there is past weekend for our anniversary and treated like gold by the establishment and by our server Joanna.
Each time we are at White Oaks we look forward to eating at PLAY. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, healthy options, and very fair prices.
My mom and I ate lunch and dinner here on Friday, June 8th while on a mother and daughter getaway. The portion sizes were good. The service was great! The food was just okay. We ordered sirloin for dinner and it was served cut into 5 pieces and served over almost raw vegetables with a very overdone loaded baked potato. We were very disappointed. The calamari were ordered as an appetizer was excellent. At lunch we ordered soup of the day (BBQ chicken), which was good, and a "health nut quinoa" salad, which left something to be desired as there was hardly any taste. Love White Oaks, but wouldn't eat at this restaurant again.
This was the fourth time I've been to PLAY and I've enjoyed myself every time. We were there celebrating my sister in law's birthday and the staff really went out of their way to make us feel special. We got champagne and dessert complimentary! We had two small children with us as well (3 and 5), and the kids seemed to enjoy it too.
Our server was very attentive and friendly. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere!
Our server Samantha was outstanding! She had reccomendations for food and drinks and her personality made for a lovely time!
The staff could be a bit friendlier and faster. Water shouldn't have to be asked for. And the lettuce in the side salad was disgusting and limp as if it had been made ahead of time and refrigerated.
Sandwich and gluten free bread was amazing and the wine list was good.
We were in town for s wine tour and our hotel was across the road so very accessible. Service was ok and same for the main course. Appies were good. It was not my favourite but the menu had sone healthy options. They had live entertainment which was quite good so we enjoyed that a lot .
The atmosphere is nice, low lighting and modern. I had the sweet potato bowl, which was healthy and quite delicious, and a substantial size.
Great food and and dining options. We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed the vegan options. The pistachio creme brûlée was good. I would recommend perhaps a smaller portion with the brulee and perhaps add something else to the dish as it was pretty rich. Maybe some kind of accoutrement to balance the flavour and refresh the palette.
The fish tacos were good and the side bean salad was the show stealer.
Consistently good. Great service and good vibe.
We stayed at the White Oaks Inn for a mother-daughter mini getaway and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Play. The service was friendly and excellent.
The wine corkage fee is reasonable and a real value add. We came from Toronto and will come again!
Excellent appetizers, nice surroundings, great server.
The sweet potatoe salad bowl was very disappointing.
No flavour, large portion but you can only eat a little bit of it. Quinoa was overpowering.
Had an amazing dinner with my husband and son. Would go back again as often as possible. Great time great food
Wait staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Food was enjoyable. Restaurant was busy and was noisy so not really a spot for a quiet, intimate dinner. Good for a quick, inexpensive but nice meal
The food here is so amazing. I have a gluten and dairy allergy and they can actually offer several options to enjoy. The flat bread (GF DF) was AMAZING. And our server was one of the best I have had. She was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and accessible. We had a great night.
This was Play’s second chance. We had horrible service last time we went. As it is a neighbourhood restaurant, we wanted to give it another the chance for a Friday night “ go to” place. The food was very good again. But the experience was terrible with appalling service. The manager took our wine off the bill by way of apology but never even came by our table. We will not go here again.
Good service. Server had difficulty making suggestions. Good sandwiches but a restaurant in a hotel of this caliber should be able to make their own chicken fingers. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Fries were cold and salads were very overdressed. Less is more. The restaurant is in the hotel and in the middle of the coldest week on record, I guess you don’t have much choice. Next time will battle the cold and venture outside the hotel.
