Platinum Club - MLSE Ratings and Reviews
have now been here at least 3 times and as always enjoyed thoroughly. the lobster pasta is one of the best in the city bar none and I loved the service. super friendly and attentive without being at all cheesy or in your face. anywhere that has fresh oysters is always a winner!!! will go back whenever the opportunity presents itself.
First they couldn't find my rez even though it was booked and confirmed via opentable. Very awkward situation especially as I had a business client with me. Instead of requesting how I booked the rez the decided to question whether I booked with another part restaurant in the ACC. Very embarrassing. I had to insist and then showed them the confirmation email from Open table, then miraculously they found it. Poor customer service at the onset.
Wait for food was very long..too long. common issue with guests around us as well. I won't be back.
The restaurant is very convenient and the food is good. Our visit was during a ML hockey game so the rest rooms were often lined up. The bar area was congested and difficult to walk through. I wonder if the maximum amount of people allowed was exceeded. You might want to check that. Otherwise a good experience.
Wanted to have dinner with my wife during the first quarter of the game. Our food didn't come out until right before half time because our server thought we wanted our meal at half time so we missed 3/4 of the game AND we had court side seats. The only saving grace was that they comp'd our food.
Only reason to go to the Platinum Club is because the other restaurants near the MLSE are full before games. Very overpriced perhaps trying to emulate a Ruth Chris or other high end steak house. However, it fails badly as the quality does not match the price paid. My steak came cooked far beyond my medium order. Not just once but on many occasions. They will take it back but you will probably be late for the game. Smart diners will stick to a couple of appetizers pre game. Also beware the menu has limited options.
Finally, the resaurant is not conveniently accessible to all Platinum seat holders, especially those who will be in the upper level Platinum seat rows. These seat holders will most easily exit and enter their seats from the main level entrance but must find their way to and from the basement corner location of the Platinum Club. This has been a problem ever since MLSE added extra seats in the upper ailes blocking convenient lower level exit routes. The Platinum Club allows you to use your reserved table between periods but this is not really viable if your seats are in the afformentioned upper Platinum rows. The route you must take will result in you surely missing part of the game.
Conclusion, the Platinum Club is where you reserve at the last minute because you waited too long or forgot and every where else is booked. You will literally "pay the price" for your mistake.
My husband and I came for dinner before a Raptors game and at first I was impressed because it was beautiful but the food lacked luster and it was very noisy.
All the food was expensive (which we knew when we made the reservation) but sometimes you get what you pay for. Not in this case. I ordered the chicken and that's all it was. Just a piece of chicken with a couple piece of broccoli for $40! Definitely not worth the money.
My husband and I hadn't been able to go on a date night in almost 6 months and we couldn't even have a conversation because of the noise.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
I must say, after reading reviews I was not surprised that I was disappointed with my restaurant choice. I took an important client here before the Friday night basketball game. I figured it was the most convenient place to go for a good steak.
The waiter clearly didn't understand the menu and offered no real suggestion for good cocktails or popular dishes. My client's steak was way overdone and the food was just ok. I really don't mind paying for good food, especially given the convenient location but the meal was just not worth the cost.
I don't think I will be returning, which is too bad because given the location this spot has real potential.
My wife and I eat here almost every time that we go to an event at the ACC, for its convenience. This time they seemed to be very short-staffed in the kitchen. The food took a very long time to come out and when it did, it appeared to have been plated a long time before being served, although we were assured that it wasn't. We requested fresh plates and ended up eating dinner during the intermission of the basketball game. They tried to make amends by making the wine complementary, which was a nice gesture. Net/net is that for a place this pricey, you simply expect more. Most of my experiences here have been average to good and this night just didn't cut it at all.
It was our first time there and everyone treated us well and made sure we had everything we needed. Our waiter took us rinkside for a quick photo and made sure we felt special. We chatted with celebrities at the Platinum cClub, enjoyed the game and had a great time in general.
Food was good - both of us had fish. Had the fondue at half time. There was not nearly enough marshmallows and fruit - and should have had bananas. They gave us mainly too-Sweet chocolate brownies, biscotti and another cookie to dip. It was just too sweet and spoiled the desert. Plain cake, strawberries, marshmallows and banana would do the trick. Good service and ambience.
