Service was noteworthy...Alex made us feel like we were visiting in her home. Will be back.
I was surprised when one menu choice was not available and a sauce used on at least two items was also not available. With ssuch a boutique menu, things shouldn't be unavailable.
As always, my cocktail was so nice.
Wife, 3 kids and I went for Mother's day, with a specific menu for the day. This was our first time dining at Plates, location is good, inside is small so we sat on the outside patio. Ordered the chicken tamales for the kids as an appetizer and they loved them. Ordered my wife the crap and scallop croquettes for an appetizer and a pork belly slider. Croquettes were very good also, pork belly slider did not hit the same standard. For main meals we had a cauliflower steak with pea tendril , peppers and onions and added shrimp to the plate. Was very light, fresh and good. Also, ordered the fried chicken which was decent, there were some very hard tendons in just a few bites which was sloppy and off putting.
Cocktail was also very good - tequila drink with a jalapeno lollipop. Service was very attentive, host stand was a little disorganized for the few tables that had people at them.
Brunch portions were a little small. Ttttytttttttttt
I love this place for brunch! They have amazing shrimp and grits!! Everyone loved their meals!!
Very nice restaurant. Casual atmosphere with outdoor seating. Food very good!
Plates has great food and I love the Brunch menu. Busy Mother's Day and still delivered. A Glenwood eatery you can always trust.
Experience and service were great. Our appetizers were delicious. The short ribs entree is definitely the way to go. The flange steak entree (which 2 out of 5 in our group ordered) was disappointing
An outstanding dining experience. The flank steak was surprisingly tender and the combination of flavors was great. The crab and scallop fritters were incredible. We also had the short ribs over smoked grits that was as good as I have had anywhere. The combination of incredible enters mixed with a comfortable low key atmosphere was truly enjoyable. And the service was as impeccable as the menu. We'll be back. Trulybwellnwortntje hour drive.
Everything was excellent, the food, the service everything. Only thing i would change is adding few more umbrellas outside for tables missing shade as sun in brutal
I went with my sister who was visiting from CA and whose husband is a trained chef. We both felt the food and drinks were top of the line and something unique that can’t be found at any other venue. Mentioned to friends and neighbors right away and just visited again to take others for a special occasion. Never disappointed and top quality again! My new go to spot for a relaxing and enjoyable experience all around.
Beautiful place for an evening dinner. Weather and atmosphere were perfect for catching up!
Great brunch menu: crab cake Benedict, frittata, chicken & waffles!
Had friends visiting and we had limited time for brunch. I called around to a lot of places, the ones I wanted to go to didn’t take reservations and the ones that took reservations I didn’t want to go to.
Finally found Plates and the menu looked good. Made the reservations. Came in right at the reservation time. We were taken straight to our table. The waitress was incredibly friendly, without being overbearing.
Of the four of us, three of us got different plates. All of the food was amazing. I find the trendy places make trendy food that isn’t quite what I want. Plates seems to have locked in one trendiness with food you recognize that still is amazing.
We also got a couple of alcoholic beverages, which were very good.
Overall, service was amazing, ambiance was perfect, food was incredible and we can’t wait to go back!
Went there for Easter brunch. I’ve lived in the area for 3 years and have never been up until this past weekend. It was delicious! Great service, atmosphere, food. I had the soft shell crab blt and my wife got the Challah breakfast sandwich. Will definitely come back.
Easter Sunday brunch delightful, wait staff cheery and professional. Grit fritters awesome as well as specia brunch cocktail )strawberries, ginger beer and champagne ). Hubby got chicken and waffles; healthy portion! Power bowl ok.
Great food and nice character. Everything seemed fresh and had nice flavors.
Our party of six had a fabulous dinner on Saturday night. Two ordered the short ribs and both loved them! The meat fell off the bone and it was so delicious - a very large portion. Two in our party got the pork chop and they said they were the best Pork chops they ever had. The salads were lovely with the perfect dressing! And the fish with the gold rice was wonderful. We will be returning often. An added benefit - they keep the music in the background as should be. We enjoy dining and having conversation, not listening to a concert! There are other good restaurants in town but we avoid them because of the noise level. Oh my god - can you even talk to each other at Poole’s? No no no
I really enjoyed the event they were having. It felt like more of a community event than just dining. I will definitely go back!
Sat outside. It was intermittently loud, but we could hear each other and have a nice conversation. Three of us ordered small plates and shared. The other person in our party had the pork chop. Everything was delicious. Definitely try the brussel sprouts and the goat pimento cheese. Out of this world! For dessert the sticky toffee pudding is a must have. It doesn't sound great, but it is - authentic and delicious!
Cool place... did not care for toast appetizer. Tasteless. All other small plates were good. Not great but good.
Don’t get the fritters unless the chef doesn’t burn them. It’s the simple things..... service was great all around. The space inside and out is very nice. The striped
Bass and arugula salad were very good!
Perfect for a girls brunch!
Really enjoyed Plates on a Friday night. Staff was attentive beginning with hostess. Decent selection of Beers, wines by glass and bottle and cocktails. We had 2 small plates, The Pimiento Goat Cheese, which was very good, It had 3 hoppin john cakes which were small round breaded black eyed pea patties and the goat cheese had jalapeno and bacon bits mixed it, a little spicy but too much and very tasty, We also had the blue crab -scallop fritters which were three decent sized breaded balls also very good.
Entrees were Bucket of Granny Helen’s Fried Chicken
crystal cane syrup + pantry pickles + hominy + cracklin- very tasty, the sauce t bottom of small bucket was a little hot and good but no overly spicy. Hominy was well prepared and fresh tasting. My wife had the Pan Roasted NC Beeliner on the Half Shell
carolina gold rice + embered spring onions + melted tomatillo +
citrus-herbed yogurt 2- which is a filet piece of red snapper, Only had a bite but it was also good, She really like it. The quality of food is very good and staff is also.
The server blamed the kitchen for being slow before even putting in the order, and our order came out with no timing issues, so I don't know why she felt the need to tell us that....? Took quite a while for our server to greet us though and it seemed like she was actually just making excuses and throwing the kitchen under the buss just because she was behind. I absolutely cannot stand when I go somewhere and they have eggs benedict on the menu but the eggs aren't actually poached, so you DON'T actually have eggs benedict. And the server told us that only some days they can poach an egg, but that the day we went was not one of those days.. If that is true yall should make a list of days they can poach an egg, so I know when to come. Luckily being in the company of great friends and family helped, because we all had a great time, but no, I will not be recommending Plates Kitchen to anyone.
Delicious. Best deviled eggs I ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the service was impeccable.
Good experience- very good food and servicer (Alice) was very good. Noise level makes it difficult to enjoy the meal- should invest in enhancing the experience for guests rather than the current open ceiling decor.
Wonderful meal and service! The beef short ribs with grits and desserts were fabulous! We'll definitely visit again.
Great little restaurant. Interesting and creative dishes. Owner is friendly and informative. Great service!
Went for brunch. We all ordered the Challah Back brunch meal which tasted great. The Bloody Mary I ordered was also good. I would definitely recommend trying their brunch.
Fantastic!! I will definitely return! Great food, drinks, and service!
Outstanding! Highly recommend the fried chicken or Denver steak.
We tried brunch at plates and really enjoyed our experience. Make sure you ask the hostess to validate parking when you arrive!
Small portions. Over priced food with uneven flavors.
Amazing! Perfect dinner date for my boyfriend and I. Service was incredible. Attentive, but not bother some. Will definitely be back.
Jake and his team are doing phenomenal things at Plates. From the moment we walked in until we departed it felt as though we were part of their family. Warm inviting atmosphere and the food was amazing. The staff were personable and attentive to every detail. I had the Scallops with blue crab-country ham velouté, polenta, country ham & collard agrodolce and my husband had the Granny Helen’s Fried Chicken with crystal cane syrup, collards & hominy. Both dishes took us on a beautiful journey of flavors and when we both saw the hominy we both were transported to warm memories of our parents and grandparents and their deep roots here in N.C. as all grew up in farming families. My husband summed it up when he said Sunday fried chicken with family. The scallops were cooked beautifully and the pairings were perfect it was scrumptious!
Great food and amazing fried chicken. Love this place.
Food is delicious, very well seasoned and inventive.
Excellent meal. The tilefish was superb, and a shared cheese plate was right for two. Nice wine list with reasonable prices. Excellent service. We'll be back!
