Great upscale but casual dining experience. Innovative menu with good sized proportions large enought for 2 to share.
My wife and I went to Plank's for our anniversary recently and came away very impressed. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the service was excellent. We will be back soon.
Had reserved for 7 but really there was 9 of us. They took us with no problem and we had a great brunch with visiting family from out of town.
We arrived on time for our reservation only to learn we were going to be seated upstairs in a hallway. WTF? We almost left, but at 6:30 pm on Christmas Eve there aren’t too many options. I’m glad we stayed. Dinner and service were excellent. We even stayed for dessert. While our server Toni did an amazing job running up and down the stairs, we felt sorry for the extra effort she made for us to have an enjoyable evening. With that said, there won’t be a next time for upstairs.
Christmas Eve and we are sitting at a table in hallway upstairs. I asked the restaurant staff if we could sit downstairs at one of the MANY empty tables. She said they were all taken. Food is average and overpriced.
My husband and I went December24th for Brunch. The food was delicious! The Christmas decorations with a snow tree were awesome. We alwasys enjoy dinning here.
Food and service were outstanding. Of course, the friends at our table made it the best!!
First time visiting. Wouldn't order steak there again but the apps were incredible and the sea bass was great. Cocktails were okay. Would definitely go back but order different items.
Christmas with my mom, husband and children. We had the best server, the food was amazing and the ambiance fabulous. The restaurant was decorated so beautifully as well. We had such a nice experience!
Need some chocolate dessert choices on the dessert menu.
Great service and delicious food! Drinks were outstanding.
We went early and enjoyed the ambiance. Food was great and innovative. Autumn salad was wonderful, although I do recommend ordering the warm bacon balsamic dressing on the side. The lemon tart was perfect.
The food was excellent, the ambience was great, the staff were very pleasant.
Great food cooked to perfection! We chose this place for our anniversary and we were very pleased with it! The only negative(which was minor) was the server. She was a bit quiet and seemed as thought she didn’t really like her job. Other than that, I would highly recommend it and come back again the next time we’re in town!
I would say this the best place to eat in Saint Joseph.
Way over priced. We were also crammed together no elbow room at all.
Such a nice dining experience! Food, drink and service were great and the live piano player was fabulous0
Pleasant experience but not especially memorable. Definitely would return. The food was good, and our server was very nice.
11 of us, young adults through seniors, celebrated my son’s 24th birthday there. We found there was something for everyone and the complimentary surprise birthday dessert was spectacular! Everyone had good things to say about their food choices. Will dine there again.
We went for brunch on a Saturday. The staff was friendly. My husband had the chicken and biscuits. If you don’t like spicy ask for no sauce. I had the corned beef hash. It was delicious. All of the food was fresh. We will definitely be going back.
Great food and super nice staff.
Wait staff was responsive and very pleasant.
We have now learned to ask about spice level. With a chef, they like to make things unique. The squash soup was excellent but too spicy for one of us. The vanilla gelato helped to melt away the issue. Overall felt safe from Covid issue and was a pleasant experience inside next to the window to look out.
Autumn pasta was incredible. Wagyu burger cut like butter.
Very nice place. Over the years the food is hit or miss. Last 2 times here the food was over cooked and some burnt. Good drinks. Usually great atmosphere.
New menu! Delicious food! Great service! Friendly atmosphere!
Food was great. Service for dinner was mediocre at best. Just seemed disorganized but given the current situation it’s understandable
The prices have doubled in the past few years we've been going there. $15.00 for Bacon and Eggs is crazy. For that price I would expect a bowl of fruit with it or something but the prices are just way too high.
The servers were great considering covid and that I know many of them were new but they did a great job. While we will continue to go to enjoy the outdoor water views I do NOT recommend to friends because of the prices. We can afford to pay them but I've gotten as good a meal for half the prices - even less than half the price.
Went there for brunch yesterday. Good food and good service.
We went there to celebrate a new job. Server was attentive but not overbearing. Drinks were excellent and used local liquor/beer/wine. Food was good, portions were not large- which was fine for me, somewhat overpriced for the area and the menu was not cohesive--the same carrots that were served with the chicken were served with the mushroom potstickers. It was nice that they had vegetarian selections. We had a reservation, but the staff was unprepared for our arrival and seemed surprised that we showed up. The original seats at the table were dirty with a piece of tomato wedged in the seating of the booth. They had a 3 piece group playing in the lobby improvisational jazz and the riffs were distracting and loud-we had to move.
The vibe was just off in general....is it a bar, is it a restaurant, is it a lounge, a locals hangout? hard to tell. With a few tweaks this could be a great place, but don't think we will be back anytime soon.
I'll start with the food was very good and our waiter was great, but the whole experience was ruined by the interactions with the "hostess" and management. We had requested an outside table, but upon arriving the unfriendly, mumbling hostess (who didn't greet us or make eye contact) informed us that no outside tables were available, but if we wanted to wait 10 minutes and no tables were available then, our reservation would be cancelled. There were clearly unoccupied tables outside and we would have been willing to wait longer, but according to her, they don't allow waiting and don't keep a waitlist (what a short-sighted loss of revenue). We tried talking to the shift manager, but she was no more helpful. We ultimately sat in the room by the fireplace - the whole thing feels more like a hotel breakfast/lunch room than a cozy dinner spot - the too bright white canned lights and lack of warm decor in the dining room definitely don't help. It's too bad because the food seems to be getting better and better, but the host stand staff are terrible.
It is very nice to have outdoor seating overlooking the water. The atmosphere is very relaxed.
Open table requested information and I mentioned that it was our anniversary. The restaurant did not use the information. Sad. At first, the wait staff was pleasant. We were judged because we wore masks. We asked about spice in the food then it went down hill from there. We realize spice is subjective however the after burn in my mouth was not. We did not receive a water refill. No cross sell on desert even. Had to ask for the check after a 20 minute wait and experiencing four times that the wait staff walked by waiting on other tables without eye contact.
Happy Anniversary less a C note.
Our server was very polite and professional. He was attentive to us as well. Great service!
Service very slow
There has been a significant change to the management of Planks since my last visit about 2.5 years ago. We were greeted enthusiastically, seated promptly and presented with imaginative cocktail and food menus. Our server and the entire staff made us feel comfortable and welcome. Give Planks a try!
Dined on the outside patio overlooking the St Joseph River
Lovely ambience. Good food.
The staff helped to make our celebratory brunch special!
The wagu burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. If I'm ever back in St. Joe this will be my first stop, will not need to look at the menu.
