PL8 Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was our second time at Pl8. We had a great time and shared many different dishes. the food and service were both great. So many choices from sushi to traditional dishes. The only reason for a 4 star overall rating was that we were sat right next to the kitchen door which was a little distracting. Regardless, we will return again.
First time at Pl8. Server was very attentive and helpful. Dim sum was good but next time will order it steamed so more tender. The shrimp Basel dish was very tasty and interesting; lots of raw red onion. Very fresh tasting. Must like cilantro. The chicken dish was very good and more traditional. Chicken fried rice was Ok. Had lots of left overs of everything. The wine was good but very expensive. Desserts are from local bakeries and the lemon one is excellent. Nice evening out. Our bill came to $96 before tip. Will go again.
Wonderful service! The menu is pretty big and our server helped us pick through to find the best! Portions are somewhat small for the price, but the taste is on point for everything! Great for groups of all sizes. Will be back soon to make my way through the rest of the menu..
My husband and I come to Pl8 frequently and even bring our young kids here on occasion. We are never disappointed by the food, drinks, atmosphere and the service. Great sushi menu and really unique rolls- we love the rolls that use the black rice— SO good!!
The only thing that kept me from giving a 5 star is the hostess. I am a super friendly person and always greet people with a warm smile. I tell ya- there is this particular hostess who seems so annoyed at the world in general. I have come in with a reservation, without a reservation, with my kids, with just my husband, with friends and lots of times for take out. This girl is SO rude always! For no reason. She has a look of contempt on her face before you’ve made it to the hostess stand. Other than her, Pl8 is great!!!
it was ok. some of the food was REALLY salty. 6oz of wine was $9??!?!!? are you serious? I can get a long Island Ice tea at Breakers ni Crystal Lake for less than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. veggies in fried rice were HUGE and no knife was provided. service was a bit poor.. I waited a LONG time for a second drink. she was more interested in new customers than us. Very nice when talking to us.. but un-attentive. didn't like the LED lights over us.. too bright. glad we tried it.. but probably won't be back.
Our meals were fantastic. Great presentation, fresh, and flavorful. We have been to PL8 numerous times. Unfortunately, this time the wait staff were slow and forgetful. Took 20 minutes to get our initial drinks followed by repeat requests for other items and for the table to be cleared of appetizer dishes. Definitely an off night that changed my guests perception of the restaurant.
We have been here several times and this time was disappointing. Our waiter was also working the bar so he was not very attentive. I ordered the orange peel chicken and although plentiful was just average in the taste and presentation categories. My husband had the wide noodle dish and felt the same, just okay. Our friend had the 7 spices chicken and a tempura dish that they said was good. Will give it another try to see if it was just an off night.
Creative use of shipping cargo container!! Ambience is very warm and friendly. Lighting is low but not dark.
Our menus were rather old and tattered (well loved?) but they were clean so who cares?!! We only ate sushi. Patrick our server/bartender was EXCELLENT in offering rolls and describing them to a T.
Our rolls were presented beautifully and they tasted even better!
We will go back!!
It is a good rule of thumb to help the customers in front of you before a phone call. Not too many people at the restaurant and our table was set... Minus the tablecloth when everone else outside had one. Before the host sat us she took a phone call and someones order. We waited... Not a long time but enough time that everyone in my party noticed. Moral to the story... Help the customer in front of you first.
Went to celebrate our anniversary. I even called to let them know it was a special occasion. Slightly disappointed that there was not even a Happy Anniversary for anyone there. Food was great as usual. We splurged for desert and it was good but too expensive for what we got.
The server was very friendly. The paper menu was pretty beat up, they should definitely look at printing new ones.
The tuna wonton appetizer was good, but they put the wontons on top of a sauce that made the wontons soggy. The Chicken curry was okay, but there was more tofu in it than chicken and the tofu didn't have a good flavor. The brownie sundae was amazing!
