PJ's Restaurant in the Atrium Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was amazing! The service was friendly. It was my first time at PJ's and I would definitely come here again with my coworkers. The special menu for Valentines day was delicious! I HAD to order 2 entrees -- the chicken parmesan and the stuffed peppers -- as it was too hard to choose between.
We've been to PJs often, but this time was probably the least professional in terms of service. There was a typo in the special items menu on the table. The item I ordered initially wasn't available, but we thought the server should have known earlier (when we ordered or shortly after we ordered) that there was no more of that item available. The server didn't get our drink or dessert order correct. The food itself, however, was very tasty and overall good value and there was willingness to accommodate our dietary restrictions. My friend and I thought that perhaps the student staff could observe other restaurants to get a sense of what would come across as "good" professional service.
I really enjoyed the featured items and the theme of an autumn brunch. The food came out fast and was very taste. Everyone got what they wanted and enjoyed it. The front of house manage was extremely nice and was always making sure you had everything you needed. The kitchen staff was always smiling and the expo looked like she was keeping everything in order. Having the table cloth be paper and having crayons be provided made it lots of fun and exciting! I would definitely go back again for any occasion.
Came to support a friend's restaurant day. Sadly, I'm a vegan, and the main entree, a pasta dish, didn't have a great vegan alternative (e.g. didn't have vegan meatballs as a substitute, so it was just noodles in a nice sauce). It would be nice if the menu could be more inclusive.
I thought that that PJ’s was a quaint restauranr tucked away on campus at U of G. We were seated right away as we approached the entrance of the restaurant and our order was taken promptly. Our food was delivered quickly to our table. The chicken pot pie with the flaky top was very tasty. The presentation of the brownie and ice cream was exquisite and it was reflected well from the picture on the centre piece. It was gooey and melted in your mouth with each bite you took. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we all enjoyed the service from
the students. We would definitely come back for another meal!
The ambiance is quite well and the surroundings are nice. However, the service is not very organized. There are enough servers that day but they were not signed to each table. It took me a while to get an empty plate and I was asked for getting a bill twice.
PJ's is a very great place for lunch. The environment was relaxing and nice. My friend and I really enjoyed our time there. We will definitely be coming back. The only issue I had was with the lack of vegetarian options. The Thai Curry was alright, but more vegetarian options would be great.
We went for one of the themes lunches - Cupid's Corner. My partner and I both got the spaghetti and meatballs and the lemonade spritzer. The spaghetti and garlic bread were great, but the meatballs weren't my favourite recipe - they seemed a little hard and bland. However, the wait staff was great, the atmosphere was fantastic, service was fast and it was very affordable. Definitely recommend and will return!
We had a 1pm reservation and were not seated until closer to 1:30. One person in my party ended up only having a beer since 3 of the items he wanted were no longer available. The other person in my party did not eat her food as she felt it was not good. She barely touched it and I was surprised they did not offer to take it off out bill.
My dish, however, was delicious.
- The food portion looked "sad" like there was so little food given, it was like they just reached in with their hands and you only get a small handful of fries. And the rest of the plate was empty. It would have looked better if the plate was smaller and space was more filled.
[ the appearance looked up appitizing]
- In my panini, I got one piece of spinach and half a slice of tomato. Like with the pricing you would expect to get more food right? Apparently not!
- The fries were horrible. I got raw fries in my portion. These fries were already sliced thin enough that it would not have taken long to fry.
- The homefries was worst. It was like the water was sucked right out of the potato and it tasted dry, stale and after one bite, I did not want anymore !
-Lastly, I have never had someone tell me to get my own coat/ bag during coat check !
It was a great revisit to PJs. I thought the restaurant was well decorated for the Broadway theme. All the staff were most cordial and professional. Our Eggs Benedict were tasty and well presented and I noticed this was the case for other dishes being served. We have already arranged with two other couples to have lunch when you reopen in the new year.
Our only disappointment was the home fries which arrived lukewarm. The server sympathized about it and told us she would tell the kitchen. I think normally in a situation like this there would be an offer to take them back and either reheat or bring hot ones.
The lunch was awesome. The homemade strawberry iced tea was a great refreshment.
Enjoyed the potato, leek and bacon soup, lentil mac and cheese with goat cheese was tasty.
My co-worker had the chicken pot pie and really enjoyed it. The meal was timely and main dishes were hot and delicious. The chocolate chip cookie with bailey's ice cream was superb.
Nice to know that all items are made from scratch.
Many thanks for the hospitality.
This is a student run restaurant. With that in mind, the food was surprisingly good quality with very good flavour. The prices were very, very reasonable which more than makes up for any nerves the students have while serving. Each day is a new theme which makes it quite fun. I enjoyed my meal and will go back again. Don't expect perfection but it may surprise you.
