About PJ Moran's Pub & Restaurant
30 years ago, John Mahon and Eamonn Maher realized their dream. Their goal was to create a pub with old-world charm and warmth near the heart of the big city.
They wanted to create an up-scale pub that embraced its neighborhood roots. John and Eamonn had a vision of intimate booths and secluded tables with the smell of mahogany permeating through the room. They discovered a bar and restaurant that was as comfortable as your own living room. The space was in the perfect location where tourists, locals, and the business elite could sit side-by-side to enjoy a pint together. Located close to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, right down the block from Rockefeller Center and the bustling shops of 5th Avenue, they knew they had found their future home. There, in the space formerly known as "The Gathering Steakhouse," PJ Moran's was born.

PJ Moran's Pub & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This place was a gem for us. We had a 4:00 reservation but were there at least 40 minutes early. They were able to accommodate us and even changed tables for us after being seated (our request). The waitress (I think her name was Kate) was adorable and very very sweet. The food was authentic Pub Food. Delicious burgers. Awesome Chicken Pot Pie. The drinks were also delicious and we did have a variety! I would absolutely recommend for casual dining. But if you are looking for a quiet little place for intimate conversation look elsewhere. This is a fun place!
Decent option near the Rockefeller Center area if you're going to see the tree. Definitely recommend getting a reservation because the area is filled with tourists and it's hard to find a place to eat without a reservation. Food was decent but definitely overpriced, but that's to be expected in the area. I got the fish and chips which was rather pricey at $19 for the portion given, but my sister had the chicken avocado wrap which she raved about.
We were seeking a very last minute place to enjoy a late lunch for my daughter's friends & to get out of the cold while celebrating her 18th birthday for the day near Rockefeller Center. This place took us right away...like within 10 minutes of booking online and walking briskly to their location. The food was excellent and although it is a pub we sat near the back of the restaurant which was decorated in a festive manner and very comfortable. Highly recommend the turkey club sandwich and the French fries!!! Real turkey vs. lunch meat turkey. The mashed potatoes and salads we're also delicious. We would definitely go back on and trip.
we made the reservation through open table...we were a large party of 16. We arrived 15 minutes early to find they gave our table away because they had called a couple of hours earlier and we didn't answer the phone/call back. So, they assumed we weren't coming. I understand if we didn't arrive at the reservation time and they gave the table away, but to not even give us a fair chance was wrong. After waiting a half hour they divided us between 2 tables. The only reason we stayed was because we have 8 hungry children with us.
This was a lunch with my sister who I only see twice a year and had a lot to catch up on. We were seated at a 2top, elbow to elbow, but were pleasantly surprised that we were able to talk fairly privately. Food was great, service wonderful and we never felt rushed. For casual dining it was great. Thank you.
I would not recommend this spot to dine. The service was atrocious, the seating is more than cramped, and the overall ambiance is not worth the price you pay to dine here . I was there to celebrate my anniversary and this establishment and the horrible experience pretty much ruined the entire day!!!!
Went here on a whim while visiting NYC with my husband for our anniversary. Decided to try an Irish-type pub while in the area close to our hotel instead of going out for a super fancy dinner (we'd done that the night before). This was the PERFECT place! It was cozy, intimate but also very casual - I got the lobster roll which was delightful and had an irish coffee with dessert - it was a wonderful 2nd evening in the city! Will totally go back there again!
Oddly warm and welcoming, considering its location. Friendly service and a menu full of Irish pub classics. Prix Fixe menu option was a no-brainer. Soup/salad option to start, 3 choices for din (shank steak, lamb shank, lamb chops the nite we were there), and 2 dessert options. Nice respite if you're hitting midtown
Perfect Irish bar on 5th ave. Lots of options on lunch menu. Large selection of beers!! Only issue we faced was with their sign in system; they couldn't update the open table reservation while we were there and took our reservation name down so they can update open table once the systems were back up.
We will definitely visit again!!
Worst service I have ever experienced in my life - no one helped when we got in to be seated, we waited over an hour to be seated with reservation and we had to run around the restaurant to try and track down manager who could care less that us and other patrons had been waiting extremely long periods of time. Will never be going back or would ever recommend this restaurant.
Overall we enjoyed it. But our waitress came over no less than four times (in 5 mins) to try to get our order. The last time she actually stood next to us at our table and waited while we were looking at the menu. I had to tell her that we're not in any rush, I will wave you over when we have decided what we want. She gave me kind of a dirty look and walked off. The food was actually very good and the atmosphere was very good but I had to say once the food was delivered water glasses sat empty and they kind of forgot about us until they needed the table and then they came over and stripped everything off. Message received loud and clear we left right after. We chose to play simply because it was close to Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral and the other tourist hotspots. We were meeting a friend that was taking the train in from Long Island we hadn't seen in a long time.
Food was average and overpriced. Our waitress was very good. The reason I would never return is due to the obnoxious owner. Originally we were told our wait would be 10 minutes. This was with us having a reservation. After 45 minutes all I did was ask if he had any idea how much longer the wait would be. When he asked how many in my party I replied "6". Then I said we did have a reservation. He barked back at me "I didn't ask you if you had a reservation I only asked you how many people. It doesn't matter to me if you had a reservation". He was so nasty and rude. I would never again give my business to a person like him. As others have said, this is an excellent location so tourists give him all the business he needs.
Very busy and very crowded. And even with that, we were treated very nicely by everyone there. The food (especially the chicken skewer appetizer) was great. Everyone was happy with there food. And the children were thrilled that they were in an Irish pub. Could not have been better.
OK at best. Convenient to Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Host, manager was amazingly surly and unpleasant when we arrived. We were a party of six, on-time with a reservation, and making no demands...you would think we had just asked him for a personal loan.
The food is OK, but there are far better choices in this area than J.P. Morans.
We had a great meal at P J Moran's with some out of town friends after seeing the Radio City Christmas show. Great food, great atmosphere, and decorated really nicely for Christmas. The P J 's special burger is amazing! Will definitely come back when we are in this area of Manhattan again!
