I think what I ordered was just not what I was expecting and so it wasn't something I enjoyed. Overall the food looked great coming out of the kitchen. I also thought it was overpriced for what it was so not likely that I would go back on my own but it is a great place for a business lunch.
The restaurant was noisy for a business meal. The food was quite good--steak was not as tender as my colleague would have hoped. I had a Wagyu bacon cheeseburger that was quite good. The wine was good but expensive. The waitress did not seem to know about letting red wine breathe. She would benefit from training on handling premium wine.
Service was excellent. Outstanding avocado toast..
Lack of personality by waitress. Food was not a value for setting. Dinner options were acceptable, yet nothing seemed to “known for”
Had to get servers attention several times for refills and requests- we did not seem to be a concern or worthy of attention
Great place. great location!
I ordered the wrong thing.. a cheeseburger!
My friend had Chicken Pillard and it was excellent.
Would go again.
Me and my boyfriend are a regular here for dinner. Autumn takes great care of us! She's amazing and the food is yummy.
Very friendly wait staff. Food was good. Enjoyed having lunch there with a friend.
Great Saturday late lunch in DC! Delicious crab cake, no filler! Known for burgers but lots of people having oyster too! The drink special was worth it. There were 3 of us, first drink $10, next $5, 3rd $1. The Bloody Mary was awesome..Also good location up 16th street from White House.
TatOr tots , yes lol I can't begin to describe how delicious they were ....and my crab cake sandwich was even more tasty ..drinks were own point I had the Handsome so good for two rounds ...our server was so bubbly ..thoroughly enjoyed this overall experience
I had not been to PJ Clarke's in awhile -- prices seemed to have gone up considerable and it is now quite expensive for what you get, food is pub-like, not better or worse, but with $22+ salads and the now ubiquitous $20 hamburger, it seems a bit less desirable. Our server must have interrupted a conversation five times, which seems unnecessary.
My husband and I had dinner here for our first time on Valentine's Day (2018). When we first arrived we were greeted by a great host with great fun energy! I expressed to her that this was our first time here and I wanted a nice seat. She gave me a few options to decide from and then lead me down to the lower level. I was first blown away by the secret sliding doors. We would have never know they were doors for the lower level.
The waitress and staff were phenomenal. Explained the dishes very well, gave you enough privacy, but never seem to forget about our table. The food was very flavorful (tater tots, steak, crab cake and cream spinach)....and the drinks! My husband got a Margarita and I, Lemon Drop Martini....PERFECT..to the "T"!!!
Excellent experience! P.J. Clarke's will definitely be seeing us again!
The food was good and the atmosphere was cozy. The waiter "D" was exceptional.
The interior is dark, so bring your flashlight. The food was fine, service was very good. The menu is broad and there's probably something for everyone, so it's a good choice for groups or business meetings.
The seafood was not very fresh, and the steak was awful (quality, over-cooked, over-seasoned).
Food was awesome. Drinks were a little expensive. Server was good, but not great. I'd eat here again.
Decent place. You're paying 20+ for average food. For example, I got a Salmon salad for $24, very below expectations. A friend of mine got a sales with Chicken, again over priced for the quality.
Would I go back? Potentially for a sandwich, but not for a while.
Waitress was very nice.
However, Well done steak does not mean burnt. Disappointed that meat was burnt and that it does not come with sides included. Very odd.
We waited nearly 20 mins for a server to approach the table, and then he was pretty absent and got our orders wrong.
Ahi tuna tacos were delicious. Good atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Appetizer was awful, but everything else was great!
Very nice, we went early so it wasn’t crowded. Food very nice
The skirt steak was very tough. I'd have sent it back except it was a business lunch. Everything else was the usual fine P.J. Clarke's quality and the service was superb.
A great ambiance. A great place to eat and relax. The food was great and the service was on point. It’s a must to eat at P.J. Clarke’s every time we are in the district.
Service was great! Definitely we would go back.
First the "Dirty" martini came with no olives...then another cocktail was so watered down with the mixer, there could not have been 1/2 oz of crown in the glass at $12.
Small 8oz bottles of coke at $3.95, no refills.
$44 piece of steak and that was all that was on the plate!
$9 side of spinach was barely a portion for one.
and the food was bland and plain.
Worst $300 spent on a meal... Not worthy of Open Table in my opinion.
Relaxing, fun environment with great service and a menu with lots of options.
We were staying at the Hilton so it was great for P.J. Clarke's to be open before and after Christmas. The manager and waitstaff are very nice and great service all around. There is plenty to look at in this restaurant.
Food was good. Service was great. Chicken pot pie was perfect comfort food for a cold rainy evening
P J Clarke's is an excellent lunch option in the K Street corridor. Food, service, and ambience are nice -- but don't go expecting it to be a quiet venue -- it is a lively spot.
Picked this for a get together lunch for coworkers. Menu was not the same as on their website for DC location. Rather pricey but did get decent portions. The food however was unremarkable.
I’ll pass this place up next time we plan a group lunch.
DC solid! Seared Ahi tuna salad was excellent.
PJ Clarke's is a classic type of bar/restaurant you go to with friends for a casual meal in the heart of town. In NYC, where I went to the original on several occasions, this was an above-average experience. In DC, this is merely an average experience, based on a couple of visits and my most recent visit. The menu is priced at just above average for the entrees offered and the food is, generally speaking, good. The service was, at best, average though. Our server came to take a drink order first, but had to do so twice - not sure why. We ordered appetizers and they came quickly - so quickly I was unsure if they were cooked to order and asked if everyone's food was hot (which it was). Delivery of the entrees was by a team of servers, none of whom knew whop was getting what and the server wasn't there to point that out. They actually started placing entrees at the wrong place and we quickly figured out they had the table "diagram" backwards. Almost comical but not quality service. Overall, a good meal at slightly above average pricing with adequate service. Meh.
Everything felt outdated. The menu seemed as if it was from the 70s. The service was slow and the restaurant was empty. My steak and eggs were over cooked with a gelatinous bearnaise sauce.
Fun sports bar, great food and location! We pregamed there
My family was in town for the holidays and touring around the city. We were in the area and decided on PJ Clarkes. We had wonderful service and some great dessert. We shared the largest steak along with some sides and salads. Our server was very hospitable and welcoming.
Meal was fine -
Very good meal
Wow! Where to begin? Came for Turkey Day, but don't care for turkey menu. Ordered off the regular menu: Roast Beef dip, a burger, and baked chicken. The $20. burger had no lettuce or tomato, no spread, a skimpy Costco cheap bun, 1 slice of a brown onion, a cup of stale mayo, and a cup of spicy mustard. Fries were over cooked and crunchy. the Roast Beef dip $18. was skimpy, flavorless, on a cheap roll, and the Au jus was more of a vinegar balsamic base, rather then gravy! UGH!! The Horseradish sauce was a ranch dressing! Disgusting crap! The sweet potato fries- overcooked too. The $24. chicken was with bones, Cheap Company, can't have boneless? What to expect from a tourist trap place? Waitress avoided after served, , did not come back and ask "how is meal"? We know why, she knew it was crap! We talked to manager, paid the entire bill and a 20% tip. Guess the chefs (?) only wanted to serve the pre-cooked turkey dinner? Have pics, but will use when contacting corporate, don't want to display the cheapness of low quality of meal items. Go elsewhere, this place is ghetto!
The food and service were great. However the value was high for the type of establishment. Paid $3.95 a piece for 12 oz coke.
We went for Sunday brunch at 11:30 am. Food was overall ok. Some of my party didn’t care for theirs. Turkey burger and fries were good. I thought spinach and goat cheese omelette was good, my friend didn’t. My husband and another friend didn’t care for the Vol au vent. Mac and cheese was good! Service was great. Our server thought to bring my friend’s 2year old’s mac and cheese first. After she was eating, the server said the kitchen gave the “adult” menu Mac and cheese and not the kids one. The 2 year old didn’t care! She loved the bacon and peas they were in the adult version. The server brought the kids one too, no charge! Very nice!! (And we got to enjoy extra Mac n cheese)!
