P.J. Clarke's DC
In our nation’s capitol, the story continues as oak and mosaic floors, red leather banquets and walls lined with eccentric portraits and nostalgic photos contribute to a reassuring familiarity that is classic P.J.s, but also construe a distinct Washington sensibility. Seasoned bartenders make favorite classic cocktails the right way; dexterous shuckers ply the freshest shellfish at a marble topped Raw Bar; and the old-school, convivial dining room welcomes government A-listers, students and their families and visitors to our capitol.
Terrible experience. There are other options in DC and you should choose those. Weird object in someones crabcake (they didnt care), burnt burger with wrong toppings that they tried to fix and got wrong twice and then never brought out a new one (again, they didnt care), and a steak well-done ordered medium rare in which the waiter argued it did not come with mushrooms which it did (he subsequently looked at the menu and brought the mushrooms). I was really impressed by how bad they could be. I don't even like giving reviews when negative but here I am.
Great spot for a quick and solid lunch. Not fancy, but consistently good.
With an early reservation, had the choice of outdoor seating. Great young waitron from Rochester who was personable and informative about the area.
The mac & cheese appetizer was fabulous — need two or more to share, or it’s kind of a meal by itself. Great job!!
Christina was a fantastic server! We will definitely return on our next DC trip.
At a steakhouse a "medium" request should be fulfilled. Wonderful burger, they were just well done!
Always a great meal with fantastic service. Old school Washington DC
Solid experience all around. Great for business lunches.
Made a trip to Washington DC for our anniversary and decided on PJ Clarke's for dinner. Made reservations for an early dinner and we were greeted pleasantly and seated promptly. Our server, Debbie was wonderful: very friendly, and attentive and congratulated on our anniversary. Meals were very well prepared: I had the chicken pot pie (generous size and plenty of chicken in a very tasty gravy; my wife had the chicken dinner with vegetables that were simply prepared as they should be. Everything was hot and presented nicely. Service was great and prices were reasonable, even considering it's in the city. Definitely on my "Recommend" list.
Fish and chips is very overpriced. Tastes ok but not great. Chips or fries had zero taste. Empty. Outside area is really great. Staff polite.
Great food and our server was exceptional! Our daughter has a peanut allergy and she went above and beyond to ask the chef about a dessert option before I even inquired. That is very rare! We frequently go to the Philadelphia location and the DC location was just as nice!
Always excellent service and good food!
Overall, nice restaurant, fun atmosphere, solidly good food. Our server was super nice and did everything right. Would definitely go again.
Good. Can be a good venue for a quick meeting.
First time visit. Server was excellent. Food was okay but the service was great.
I ordered a special wuayu beef burger medium cooked. I got a well done regular burger
Nice place and good food, even if inside was too noise, we asked a table outside and everything was perfect.
I was with my family with daughters of 17 and 15.
Our server Autumn was amazing, attentive and knowledgeable!
The chicken with mustard sage sauce was delicious, the brussel sprouts were tasty, and the service was excellent. Burgers are also a (relatively) good deal. The only gripe was being charged $3.95 for a small bottle of soda, and then having to pay another $3.95 for a refill. By contrast, free refills for iced tea.
Highly recommended for a romantic meal. Food tasted amazing. Atmosphere was lovely
Marvelous for post movie drinks and food.
Warm reception, good food with nice portions, friendly service. Clean restaurant. Close to White House.
Food was very good service was poor and there were many times when the staff was all at the hostess desk all talking to each other and not paying any attention to the guests in the restaurant
This is a great spot for lunch. The variety of choices on the menu are diverse yet focused. Plenty of fresh seafood options are available, including rotating selections from a raw bar.
Staff was excellent. Great menus and atmosphere!
Very expensive night for our family! Food was good but didn't justify the prices! I got a gin and tonic and it was $15! Glass of wine was $14! Very noisy so conversation was difficult. Very nice ambience and good location near the White House. If you are looking for a nice quiet night out this isn't the place to go. Had a small kids menu at least. Dessert was so-so. My wife's apple cobbler was better then theirs.
My boss loved it! I hope to try P.J. Clarke's soon!
Great dining experience ... service was excellent, the menu was fun and our food delicious!
Thoroughly enjoyed dinner!
Great place! Great food! Great location - Just down the street from the White House!
Meh, not great service or food.
The different pictures and mismatched chandeliers around the room was intriguing.
Service was fabulous and the food was excellent. Our server was very friendly and thorough.
Wait staff was extremely attentive. Tables were a bit too close but the atmosphere was still nice.
Service was great. Nice atmosphere
We had great food and service. The kids and adults were both happy!
Very nice setting and excellent service. The location is just a couple of blocks from the White House. It was also just across the street from our hotel. Would definitely go there again.
Service was outstanding and the ribs were excellent, great selection behind the bar and don't skip the brownie for dessert.
We had the lobster roll and rotisserie chicken. Chicken was pretty dry and flavorless without au jus.
Good food. Nice service.
Muy buena opción en D C
Even though early and not that busy, service spotty. Difficult to get a beverage refill. Main fish dish was truly an appetizer at at moderately high main price. Overall just ok. Barely.
