P.J. Clarke's DC
In our nation’s capitol, the story continues as oak and mosaic floors, red leather banquets and walls lined with eccentric portraits and nostalgic photos contribute to a reassuring familiarity that is classic P.J.s, but also construe a distinct Washington sensibility. Seasoned bartenders make favorite classic cocktails the right way; dexterous shuckers ply the freshest shellfish at a marble topped Raw Bar; and the old-school, convivial dining room welcomes government A-listers, students and their families and visitors to our capitol.
Great wait service, nice table settings and great mixed drinks from the bar. Very affordable with good variety of food options. Waiter made great recommendations. Very attentive and left us nothing to be desired. Perfect location across from The St. Regis hotel
The food was very good. The service was inattentive and very slow.
Mediocre food, small portions and fairly high prices. A disappointing experience. On a more positive note, the room is nice and the sever was pleasant, but no need to return.
This is the second time I’ve been to this restaurant and it was not the best experience. The raw bar is great, but the service was slow even though they weren’t that busy and the food tasted like it had been sitting out for a while before arriving at our table.
My advice, stick to the bar!
EXCELLENT DINNER, PECAN ENCRUSTED TROUT WAS A HUGE HIT! THE CHEESECAKE AND THE APPLE COBBLER WERE TERRIFIC. THE SERVICE WAS VERY GREAT!
I was in town on business and just wanted a quick bite. The wait staff was super. They were very polite, answered all my questions and were delightful to talk with. I spent most of the time catching up on email, they were attentive without being intrusive. I will definitely come again.
P.J. Clarke's and Hamilton are my two downtown go-to places for a solid meal and smooth service.
Casual and simple menu. Good quality and even though they mixed up one if our orders they were very quick to correct the error.
Nice ambience, quiet atmosphere and good service.
Seating location, holiday decor, ambiance and food quality
Very good food with excellent service!
We used our $50 OpenTable certificate and it did not reduce our service at all.
We will definitely return.
Losing its touch a bit. Soup was cold and the salad was way over-dressed. Still a good atmosphere.
Service was exceptional, food was very good, but not sure it was worth the price.
We sat in the downstairs area, the upstairs was much more festive but extremely loud
Waited 58 minutes to be served a soggy cold sandwich. Very disappointing, as I’ve really enjoyed dining there in the past.
Kevin our waiter was wonderful and always very attentive and friendly. Restaurant was decorated beautifully and our overall experience was wonderful.
The holiday decorations were beautiful. It's a good looking restaurant with a great menu and excellent food. I will return when I am in DC again.
We went to P.J. ‘s for brunch. A member of our party had the omelet I did not care for the eggs Benedict- over cooked.
If the food were as good as the service. This would be a worthy spot. Unfortunately the food is mediocre.
We booked a late reservation for our last night I Washington after a hockey game. Been many times at P.J’s restaurant I NY and have always been satisfied. This was our second visit to P.J’s in DC and the first time was really good so you expecting the same but it wasn’t. Service could been better and when we just started whit a starter the main course was served, was the kitchen closing? Ordered some gravy but the chef couldn’t have taste it and it almost ruined the steak, the waiter agreed something was wrong but no more. So little fan of PJ’s I hope this only happened ounce and We still going to pay them a visit.
Good food, noisy, waiter was a bit ditzy and wore too much perfume.
The burger wasn’t that flavorful. The bun wasn’t toasted.
Food was great, it’s a little loud for easy conversation but overall a great choice!
You have to try the mac n cheese! Everything was great though. Thank you for a great dining experience.
Very good food, great service. Friendly atmosphere.
Pleasant casual setting. Great service. Reasonable value for the area. Worth a trip.
Being honest it wasnt our 1st choice but after eating there we were glad we did choose here. The oysters were amazing along with the ceviche. Our waiter was engaging and very attentive. The fish tacos and sea bass entrees were good. Would recommend
The downstairs area is a great place to have a quiet conversation in a pleasant atmosphere with great food.
Unfortunately our experience at this restaurant was less than mediocre. I ordered the sea bass which was a very small, over cooked filet and over priced for what it was. My husband had the Caesar salad which again was quite The service was ok until our waiter stopped at our table, carrying dirty dishes from the table next to us, to ask if we wanted dessert! At that point we couldn’t wait to exit. I won’t be going back to this place again.
The quality of food for the price was very poor. Our service was great until the restaurant filled up and then we were seemingly forgotten. This restaurant was recommended by our concierge at the Hilton and we were thoroughly disappointed.
Amazing service. Friendliest waiter. Great food - especially the Clarke burger and the pigs in a blanket.
We had a fabulous and attentive waiter (wish I could remember his name) who took great care of us. Food was prompt and delicious. Thanks!
Been to PJ Clarke's several visits to DC; will definitely be back; they never disappoint.
We had a large party (12) dining on a Wednesday evening. I was unable to secure a table for 12 at the time we wanted at two other restaurants so was very pleased to reserve a table at PJ Clarkes. We were seated in the lower level, with very few other diners around us so we were not crowded and not stifled by noise. The setting/ambiance was very pleasant for our dinner and our server was attentive. The food and drinks were very tasty and not unreasonable in price for the DC area. Overall the group loved the choice of restaurant for our group dinner. PJ Clarkes was a referral to me from two co-workers, I would definitely refer it to others.
Been there before - food is good - no matter what dishes we ordered we enjoyed
Great sea bass for me and a lobster roll for my wife that she insists was one of the best she’s ever had!
Terrible experience. There are other options in DC and you should choose those. Weird object in someones crabcake (they didnt care), burnt burger with wrong toppings that they tried to fix and got wrong twice and then never brought out a new one (again, they didnt care), and a steak well-done ordered medium rare in which the waiter argued it did not come with mushrooms which it did (he subsequently looked at the menu and brought the mushrooms). I was really impressed by how bad they could be. I don't even like giving reviews when negative but here I am.
The DC outpost of P.J. Clarke's--like its NYC namesake--delivers on solid pub food (with upgrades like seared tuna and reliably good daily specials) and smart service. Ask in advance for a table on the spacious outdoor patio on nice-weather days. This isn't a place for a romantic date or a transcendent gastronomic experience, but P.J. Clarke's wins on just being a professional and enjoyable midtown restaurant.
Great spot for a quick and solid lunch. Not fancy, but consistently good.
With an early reservation, had the choice of outdoor seating. Great young waitron from Rochester who was personable and informative about the area.
The mac & cheese appetizer was fabulous — need two or more to share, or it’s kind of a meal by itself. Great job!!
