P.J. Clarke's DC
In our nation’s capitol, the story continues as oak and mosaic floors, red leather banquets and walls lined with eccentric portraits and nostalgic photos contribute to a reassuring familiarity that is classic P.J.s, but also construe a distinct Washington sensibility. Seasoned bartenders make favorite classic cocktails the right way; dexterous shuckers ply the freshest shellfish at a marble topped Raw Bar; and the old-school, convivial dining room welcomes government A-listers, students and their families and visitors to our capitol.
The holiday decorations were beautiful. It's a good looking restaurant with a great menu and excellent food. I will return when I am in DC again.
We went to P.J. ‘s for brunch. A member of our party had the omelet I did not care for the eggs Benedict- over cooked.
If the food were as good as the service. This would be a worthy spot. Unfortunately the food is mediocre.
We booked a late reservation for our last night I Washington after a hockey game. Been many times at P.J’s restaurant I NY and have always been satisfied. This was our second visit to P.J’s in DC and the first time was really good so you expecting the same but it wasn’t. Service could been better and when we just started whit a starter the main course was served, was the kitchen closing? Ordered some gravy but the chef couldn’t have taste it and it almost ruined the steak, the waiter agreed something was wrong but no more. So little fan of PJ’s I hope this only happened ounce and We still going to pay them a visit.
Good food, noisy, waiter was a bit ditzy and wore too much perfume.
The burger wasn’t that flavorful. The bun wasn’t toasted.
Food was great, it’s a little loud for easy conversation but overall a great choice!
You have to try the mac n cheese! Everything was great though. Thank you for a great dining experience.
Very good food, great service. Friendly atmosphere.
Pleasant casual setting. Great service. Reasonable value for the area. Worth a trip.
Being honest it wasnt our 1st choice but after eating there we were glad we did choose here. The oysters were amazing along with the ceviche. Our waiter was engaging and very attentive. The fish tacos and sea bass entrees were good. Would recommend
The downstairs area is a great place to have a quiet conversation in a pleasant atmosphere with great food.
Unfortunately our experience at this restaurant was less than mediocre. I ordered the sea bass which was a very small, over cooked filet and over priced for what it was. My husband had the Caesar salad which again was quite The service was ok until our waiter stopped at our table, carrying dirty dishes from the table next to us, to ask if we wanted dessert! At that point we couldn’t wait to exit. I won’t be going back to this place again.
The quality of food for the price was very poor. Our service was great until the restaurant filled up and then we were seemingly forgotten. This restaurant was recommended by our concierge at the Hilton and we were thoroughly disappointed.
Amazing service. Friendliest waiter. Great food - especially the Clarke burger and the pigs in a blanket.
We had a fabulous and attentive waiter (wish I could remember his name) who took great care of us. Food was prompt and delicious. Thanks!
Been to PJ Clarke's several visits to DC; will definitely be back; they never disappoint.
We had a large party (12) dining on a Wednesday evening. I was unable to secure a table for 12 at the time we wanted at two other restaurants so was very pleased to reserve a table at PJ Clarkes. We were seated in the lower level, with very few other diners around us so we were not crowded and not stifled by noise. The setting/ambiance was very pleasant for our dinner and our server was attentive. The food and drinks were very tasty and not unreasonable in price for the DC area. Overall the group loved the choice of restaurant for our group dinner. PJ Clarkes was a referral to me from two co-workers, I would definitely refer it to others.
Been there before - food is good - no matter what dishes we ordered we enjoyed
Great sea bass for me and a lobster roll for my wife that she insists was one of the best she’s ever had!
Terrible experience. There are other options in DC and you should choose those. Weird object in someones crabcake (they didnt care), burnt burger with wrong toppings that they tried to fix and got wrong twice and then never brought out a new one (again, they didnt care), and a steak well-done ordered medium rare in which the waiter argued it did not come with mushrooms which it did (he subsequently looked at the menu and brought the mushrooms). I was really impressed by how bad they could be. I don't even like giving reviews when negative but here I am.
The DC outpost of P.J. Clarke's--like its NYC namesake--delivers on solid pub food (with upgrades like seared tuna and reliably good daily specials) and smart service. Ask in advance for a table on the spacious outdoor patio on nice-weather days. This isn't a place for a romantic date or a transcendent gastronomic experience, but P.J. Clarke's wins on just being a professional and enjoyable midtown restaurant.
Great spot for a quick and solid lunch. Not fancy, but consistently good.
With an early reservation, had the choice of outdoor seating. Great young waitron from Rochester who was personable and informative about the area.
The mac & cheese appetizer was fabulous — need two or more to share, or it’s kind of a meal by itself. Great job!!
Christina was a fantastic server! We will definitely return on our next DC trip.
At a steakhouse a "medium" request should be fulfilled. Wonderful burger, they were just well done!
Always a great meal with fantastic service. Old school Washington DC
Solid experience all around. Great for business lunches.
Made a trip to Washington DC for our anniversary and decided on PJ Clarke's for dinner. Made reservations for an early dinner and we were greeted pleasantly and seated promptly. Our server, Debbie was wonderful: very friendly, and attentive and congratulated on our anniversary. Meals were very well prepared: I had the chicken pot pie (generous size and plenty of chicken in a very tasty gravy; my wife had the chicken dinner with vegetables that were simply prepared as they should be. Everything was hot and presented nicely. Service was great and prices were reasonable, even considering it's in the city. Definitely on my "Recommend" list.
Fish and chips is very overpriced. Tastes ok but not great. Chips or fries had zero taste. Empty. Outside area is really great. Staff polite.
Great food and our server was exceptional! Our daughter has a peanut allergy and she went above and beyond to ask the chef about a dessert option before I even inquired. That is very rare! We frequently go to the Philadelphia location and the DC location was just as nice!
Always excellent service and good food!
Overall, nice restaurant, fun atmosphere, solidly good food. Our server was super nice and did everything right. Would definitely go again.
Good. Can be a good venue for a quick meeting.
First time visit. Server was excellent. Food was okay but the service was great.
I ordered a special wuayu beef burger medium cooked. I got a well done regular burger
Nice place and good food, even if inside was too noise, we asked a table outside and everything was perfect.
I was with my family with daughters of 17 and 15.
Our server Autumn was amazing, attentive and knowledgeable!
The chicken with mustard sage sauce was delicious, the brussel sprouts were tasty, and the service was excellent. Burgers are also a (relatively) good deal. The only gripe was being charged $3.95 for a small bottle of soda, and then having to pay another $3.95 for a refill. By contrast, free refills for iced tea.
