P.J. Clarke's DC
In our nation’s capitol, the story continues as oak and mosaic floors, red leather banquets and walls lined with eccentric portraits and nostalgic photos contribute to a reassuring familiarity that is classic P.J.s, but also construe a distinct Washington sensibility. Seasoned bartenders make favorite classic cocktails the right way; dexterous shuckers ply the freshest shellfish at a marble topped Raw Bar; and the old-school, convivial dining room welcomes government A-listers, students and their families and visitors to our capitol.
What a great place!! The place has a lot of charm and the food and service was second to none.
The food was very good, but the service was slow. Our waiter took our drink orders immediately and when we said we didn't want apps, he disappeared. I had to wave at another waiter 45 minutes later to ask him to come back and take our entree order. It took us 2 hours to get out of there and the waiter was getting snappy because he wanted to turn the table (which we would have happily been able to do had he taken our order in time).
We had a great meal downstairs. The ambiance, service and food were great.
We were happy to see that we had a reserved table for our client meeting right at 12pm during a busy conference nearby. Host and wait staff were great! Food was good though a few more vegetarian options would be nice. Overall nice environment and would go back again!
Pleasant. Special instructions listened to .
We had the same great waitress that we had when we were there 3 years ago. Christina is a wonderful waitress and she remembered that she waited on us the last time. We wish her nothing but the best.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommended.
Very loud. On the upside, portion was pretty large. Wouldn’t recommend
The skirt steak and Caesar salad was excellent and had a cherry based beer. A little pricy but considering the location I guess you are stuck.
First time at P.J. Clarke's DC - it can't hold a candle to P.J.Clarke's NYC
Over price for product but understand due to location
Dependably very good.
Pleasant location for business lunch. Varied menu. Excellent and attentive service
Food was Ok. Service not great.
It was perfectly fine
PJ Clarke's provides a great venue to enjoy a game of any type. Several TV screens can been viewed from the bar area, there is a table seating area next to the bar so you can sit and watch a game and there is a more separated dining area where you don't have to watch the game or the bar scene, so it kinda has something for everyone. One of the things I really liked was the casual atmosphere but high qualify food options. I had the filet mignon au poivre and it was perfect. Great service too!
A great venue to meet up with clients, visiting from out of town for our Call to Congress conference. It was walking distance from their hotel and a perfect choice to eat good food and relax after a long day!
Save yourself money go to McDonald’s the food is the same.
Been here twice. Great food, healthy and delicious, seafood is terrific.
Cherry beer smells and tastes so good, just like a taste of spring.
Lovely evening out! I reserved a table, thinking we will be on the groundfloor level. We were directed to the basement which I had no problem with, and we enjoyed the ambience, but I was disappointed that the menu was not the same. I also believe it is pricier in the basement? Our table was a folding table, and where one of the guests sat, everything was slanting down. His cutlery fell to the ground, but it was quickly replaced by new ones. We mentioned it to our waiter, hoping to be moved to a non-slanting table, but that did not happen. The food was wonderful! But expensive! But we will give it another go sometime!
Good food. Unpretentious. Decent bar selections. Good happy hour oysters and seasonal specials. Sports on the bar TVs a plus.
Food was not that good. Some combinations of spices were off.
Always good food and service.
Great bourbon selection.
Family from Pennsylvania and Illinois visiting the city
Perfect venue, placed expertly between higher-end food prep and an informal bar-type atmosphere. Especially good for Friday dining. Our table-for-four was comfortable, with plenty of room and privacy.
I enjoy the history there, as well as the food and service.
The food is prepared well, and the portions are a good size. Tom, the waiter, has a great personality and makes guests feel welcome. It would be even better if the lunch prices were a bit lower than the dinner prices (it appears that there is a single menu for both lunch and dinner).
This was the first dining experience here for our party of 4. We had a good experience with our waiter Tom. But I think we felt that overall the food quality didn't justify the expense. In my own situation I specifically asked about the crabcakes which the waiter listed as one of the popular dishes. I am fussy about crabcakes--I want to see and taste lumps of crab, not what I refer to as pulverized crabmeat. Unfortunately, it was the pulverized version. The chicken pot pie was tasty but without any accompaniments was priced too high. One guest asked to substitute green salad for french fries. No one mentioned the $5 upcharge.
Best salad I have ever eaten! Warm Lobster Cobb
Wonderful food. Very helpful staff. No hanging around to enjoy coffee, though, as they stated busing or table very aggressively as soon as we paid the bill.
As two women having a business lunch, we were put next to the drawer where waiters put silverware, it was loud and not appropriate. We did not get two small forks for our oysters and I had to get up after 10 minutes to ask a second time. All in all, I will not be eager to return.
Food was mediocre. A fancy Applebees (Meaning better than Applebee's, but decidedly not as good as the price tag).
I dined with two friends for Saturday brunch. Two of us had eggs Benedict and the other person had the BLT sandwich, which was large. All the food was well prepared and flavorful. There was a small problem as the sandwich was ordered with fries and was delivered with a small salad instead. The restaurant recognized the mistake and promptly brought the fries. The waiter was new but pleasant and helpful. Will probably dine here again on my next trip to the Capitol.
Very good dinner, with nice place. Near my hotel, very good choice,
The food was good, although I regret not having the tater tots and the service was excellent.
Nothing great. French dip was on the small side. Guest had chicken Cesar salad what was awful. Granted it was the end of the day but not worth it
Location was great and food good for the price. I would recommend.
Very pleasant dining experience. Baba is a great server and the meal was excellent.
