About Pizzeria Villagio

The idea of Villagio comes from a marriage between time and place; the old neighborhoods of New York City and the abundant plains of California. What California brings to the table figuratively and literally, is its abundance of fresh produce, fresh starts, and the opportunity to reinvent. And so it was with these two places and time in mind that we set out to build a restaurant that would meld the two.

With pizza dough made from scratch, hand stretched and cooked in a traditional pizza oven, our proprietary pizza sauce and the freshest of ingredients, Villagio invites you to dig in and enjoy our food, our warmth, and our relaxing ambiance. A place where old world tradition, meets new world freshness.

I'm from NY and I'm very picky about my Pizza and Italian Food. Most Italian places I've been to in So Cal don't live up to NY standards but Villagio does! They had great pizza. The sauce and crust were perfect. Next time I'll try the other dishes.

Noisy and busy. Service was slow largely due to the number of customers. Great pizza.

I have been there for dinner when it is quite active. I chose lunchtime for a date with my elderly parents and it was slow enough then to be quiet so we could all hear each other, etc. Very nice time!

The food was very good. If you want to get something quickly and get out, that's the restaurant. Other than that don't go for a casual dinner.

Our first visit was terrific. Our second visit, six months later, encountered food of greatly reduced quality.

This is a nice medium priced restaurant with a good selection of quality food. The service was good, but the food was a little slow getting out of the kitchen. This was my second visit to this restaurant, and I will come back.

Pizzeria Villagio truly is a neighborhood gem. Although its name makes it sound like a chain restaurant of questionable quality, it is actually an individually-owned, local restaurant with outstanding Italian food. I have always had excellent service when dining there, and now that they have been opened for more than a year, they seem to have settled in nicely, having added a lunch specials menu and happy hour specials, as well.

You NEED a reservation, particularly on Friday or Saturday, in-season. Like seemingly all modern restaurants, Villagio can be very noisy. I suspect this is because of all the hard surfaces which bounce the noise around. Service was fast and efficient. Drinks were reasonably priced. Our shared pizza was great.

The food is always delicious and affordable; the only thing we're curious about is why there is no ketchup for the chips that come with the sandwiches. Also, since I'm a hot tea drinker, I was hoping for more choices than what was available. The atmosphere is perfect; allows you to feel like you're going to a nice restaurant but without having to dress too fancy. Service is great. We've recommended the place to a lot of friends and have been there many times ourselves.

Our first visit and a wonderful find. Great service, great food, loved the interior and ambiance. Four of us went for pizza and we all will return and bring more friends. We are anxious to try food from the wonderful choices on the pasta menu. It was very busy on a Sunday night and a good thing we had made reservations with Open Table.

Beautiful resturant. I made online reservations the day prior. Our table was not ready and we had to wait. Very few people in resturant, 11:30am, and service was very slow. Average lunch fare, pizza very good.

Love their pizza- thin, crispy crust, great choice of toppings. They also have a variety of fresh salads and pastas. They bring out little bread balls topped with parmesan and garlic that are delish! It's close to our house which makes the fact that we love it even better. They have also recently expanded and the new addition is beautiful.

We have a large family (six kids) and we were looking for some place new and kid friendly - Pizzeria Villagio was great! In addition to the kids-coloring-menu, they provided each of our kids with their own pizza pan with pizza dough to play with. They were thrilled! Service was very friendly and attentive.

We had heard so many good things about Pizzeria Villagio, but the experience did not live up to our expectations. We arrived on time for our reservation, but had to wait 15 minutes for our booth and we were seated next to the entry where the door was opened continuously and we were blasted by cold air. We began with the Prosecco, which was very nice, along with the Caprese salad, which was good, but had too many peppers on it. We found the wine prices to be very reasonable and ordered the St.Francis Merlot for $36. Our server, Paul, did a great job, but we had to wait over an hour for our entrees to arrive. My husband's Rigatoni Bolognese was a hit, but my Lasagne arrived burnt around the edges and was lacking in any flavour but cheese.

We were seated on time and they were very busy. Our food, once we got it, was delicious. However, we waited approximately 50 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering and when it did approximately half of my husband's clams were not opened so they had to be sent back. We asked twice for bread before we received it about 20 minutes later. We had bragged about this restaurant to friends and were there with them for my husband's birthday dinner. Overall a very disappointing visit. We have been here once before and did not experience this type of problems. The food is great however they need to improve the kitchen response time.

What a pleasant surprise to finally find some good pizza in the desert. I'm giving them 5 stars because they are executing their concept very well. I prefer New York thin crust wood fired pizzas, so if that is what you like you won't be disappointed. Also the atmosphere is very charming, not like a chain pizza place. We didn't try their pastas but looked appetizing so we might give them a try next time.
Final note, make resevations if you don't want to wait.

This is good pizza. It is probably great west coast pizza, but do not get the false hope that it will live up to classic pizza from the east coast. For a place to make their own sausage, but not their own meatballs makes no sense to me.

Ambiance is great as well as the food. Menu is not extensive but what is served is high quality. Much easier to get a reservation now that they have expanded which also keeps the noise level down. Highly recommend it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our eating experience at Pizzeria Villagio...we had been there three times prior and looked forward to seeing the newly expanded section that had just opened. We were not disappointed as it really opened up the eating area and also includes a private dining room for special occasions. The food as always, was great and we always enjoy the garlic knots that are served as we waited for our entree. Our server was personable and came back several times to check on us and the food was served in a timely manner for a Friday night. We will definitely return on our next visit out to the Palm Desert area and will happily recommend our new find!
