This is like my eighth time eating here and we love the place. Lunch or dinner it does not matter. The food, drink and feel of the place is so amazing. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.

We usually eat in the bar area, just feels good. The staff is amazing, they really take care of us and make amazing drinks for us.

I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves to eat brick wood fire pizza. I think the key to having the best pizza is the dough. I've eaten different kinds of pizza from different Italian restaurant but this is the best pizza place that you could find. I also tried their meatballs appetizer and their clams both are really really good.. I also had the pasta with lamb it's very tasty and does not have that wild meat taste to it that's probably why I loved it. We came there for the first time and immediately fell in love with the restaurant so me and my husband came back the following week.. I say that we might come back again and do like a once a week type of place for us. We also like the fact that everyone that works there have the vibe of liking to work there not just for a job but actually enjoy being in that restaurant. We get the feeling of they are well taking care off as an employee of the restaurant. We love Miguel from the bar.. He's very attentive and very nice server..
Our memory of Pizzeria Ortica was one of great service and food. It has been a few years since we have been there and wanted to give it another try. The restaurant staff was friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself was clean and pleasant. However, the food was not very good. We started with the brussel sprouts appetizer which was very dry, lacking flavor, and the bread crumbs were quite bland. We took a few bites and pushed them to the side. We ordered 2 pizzas (one was a margherita and the other had spicy meat) and they were not very good either. The cheese was not melted well making it seem like they were not cooked -- they were also a bit cold. We barely touched them as well. We got the check, paid, and left. At no time did anyone ask us how our meal was or bother to notice that we really didn't eat much. I assume that there was a chef, ownership, or management change and it shows. We stopped somewhere else on the way home and actually had dinner. Needless to say, we won't be back. Very disappointing.
Well I was in town on business and staying at the close by Marriott. This was the closest open table restaurant within walking distance. I ended up eating here three times.
I must say that the food, company and wait staff were all great. When I am in the area I will be back.

We Made the mistake of ordering entrées rather than pizza. We were first into the restaurant when it opened for a pre-performance dinner at 5 PM. Our entrées were served at 6:05 PM. The restaurant did comp part of our bill but waiting for that long puts a damper on a dining experience. If you’re going to the theater, order pizza: many pizzas came out while we were waiting for our entrees.
Restaurant was empty but hostess sat us at the kitchen enterence w/ the server station directly behind us. Diners who were seated after us got their food way ahead of us. Meatballs were tough - make way better at home pizza was tons of dough not that much flavor Pizziaria Mozza’s is way better. Won’t be back
We loved the look and feel of this restaurant, but the food was a bit overpriced. We had salads and pizzas, which looked and tasted great. Service was just ok and felt a little rushed. The reason for the minimal stars is due to the fact we all had stomach issues right after we ate. We won’t be going back.
Worst service I've had in 10 years. After we sat down and placed our drink order, we never saw our waiter again unless we flagged him down. And when he was walking around, he was so intent, we couldn't get his attention for 15 minutes at a time. We couldn't order our main course in a timely fashion. He didn't bring us the dessert menu. In fact, he said they didn't have one at first. The food was fine, but nothing special. Food came out quickly once ordered. Location is great. But for all the headaches, I would go to TGI Fridays across the street before coming back here again.
The food portion was so small we thought it was an appetizer.
We questioned it and returned it. They refused to increase the portion size, which was only pasta.
The manager was rude and did not know how to take care of the customer. We dined there several times a year

Was quite surprised at the "kitchen appreciation" charge. I would rather pay legitimate prices and have the restaurant pay legitimate wages. All this charge did was set a rather sour taste. We will not return .Ordered Gin and Tonics and had to ask several times to get limes. Even had to ask again when a 2nd round was ordered. Had to ask for bread. Expected more attentive service.
If you’re in the mood for pizza, steer clear. Go to Pizzeria Mozza in Newport Beach or North Italia in Irvine. Better staff, better ambience, better pizza.
We have been to Pizzeria Ortica in the past and it’s been acceptable; however, the past two times we’ve been there it’s been incredibly slow. It took 1 hour for our food to come... our waitress was clearly embarrassed, because she didn’t know what was going on. When a senior member of staff came to speak to us she was rude and patronizing. She said that their pizza ovens only hold 6 at a time and if we want our food faster we should order in advance. The restaurant wasn’t even as busy as it has been in the past. It does not take 1 hour to cook three pizzas. They clearly forgot our order and didn’t want to admit to it. In any case, we will not be returning.
Overall the food and service was excellent. The ambiance was very good and felt authentic. I did not like the table choices. Since it was a small place the tables were small and lined up, so you felt like you could not have a conversation without the tables around you knowing your business.
Why it has taken me so long to write a review about Pizza Ortica I do not know, but after my last dinner there I made the time to write this one. We made a 6:45 reservation to be seated and have enough time for dinner before our show at the Segerstom Center at 8 PM. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and our server “D” I think is full name was Demetrio, greeted us and asked us if we were going to see a show. From that point on to the end of our meal the service was perfect. D was attentive without being obtrusive and was so polite. We shared starters of Butter Lettuce salad and a Margherita pizza with Buffalo Mozzarella, both excellent. My wife had the Ricotta Gnocchi for her main and I selected the Bucatini pasta. I got a taste of the Gnocchi, wonderfully done with light yet firm Gnocchi enriched with a wonderful blend of tomatoes, peppers and capers. My Bucatini (thicker spaghetti like pasta with a hole in the center) was amazing. The pasta done perfectly Al Dente and the braised spare rib ragu just splendid. The restaurant is narrow and long and at times may be a bit loud. A tip to those going to the theater, park in the garage and validate you parking ticket at Ortica, you will have free parking for the show.
My wife and I have eaten at Pizzeria Ortecia at least 10 times in the last two years and have always had a great experience. The food is fresh, delicious and expertly prepared and served. The hand crafted cocktails are outstanding. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Orange County.
The menu selection and quality have dipped significantly and the ambiance was next to nothing on a Saturday evening. It's to bad as this used to be one of our favorite restaurants to visit. Hopefully the new chef and GM will make some changes to get the restaurant back to the level it once was.
Very good pizza in a lofty, very Italianate, gallery-style space. It reminds a little of places in Milan. Mozza (Newport Coast) has a bigger name and is a great place, very well-deserving of its accolades, but equally so is this place, which has a slightly more complete menu than Mozza. Hard by South Coast Plaza and the Segerstrom, it is also easier to get to. The service is great; I think our server was named Shelly (Sherry??), super nice/wine knowledgeable. The wine list is quite good with some vintages with age (a 2008 Barolo and a special grappa each got copious praise from my client). Very good pizza (fennel sausage), olive appetizer and Brussels sprouts w/hazelnuts. Nice octopus appetizer. We'll be back.
completely short handed and the service was not up to par.
spilled water on every glass that the person was pouring, and not enough effort to make the customer want to return back.
pizza crust was burnt badly..
was embarrassed to bring my parents for the dinner.....
