Pizzeria Orso is a casual Italian restaurant located in the Rosslyn area of Washington, D.C. Pizzeria Orso offers guests authentic Neapolitan-style pizza as well as other Italian comfort food dishes. The laid-back atmosphere and fun decorations make this a good place to come and share a pie with a group of family or friends.
Executive Chef Bertrand Chemel has put together an accessible menu that diners young and old will be able to appreciate. There are several varieties of pizza with toppings like prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil and arugula. What's a little more unique to Pizzeria Orso, though, are the brunch pizzas served on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Out of all the brunch specials, one of the most interesting is the uovo fritto, a pizza with pecorino, mozzarella, fingerling potatoes and sunny side up eggs.

Everything was good, I find the pasta ravioli with pumpkin - was a small portion for the price.
The gnocchi was fantastic, great food.
We were planning our return visit before we'd left.
We started the meal with the Lamb Ragu ... wonderful. Then selected a few pizzas ... both were outstanding. Finished with Tiramisu ... which was fresh and well balanced. Highly recommend!
This was our third visit and it was disappointing. Perhaps it was due to a busy Friday night, but everything about our meal was just "meh" compared to our first 2 experiences here (less busy, more quiet). The calamari starter was about the only good thing about our meal that night. We ordered two pizzas -- crust was too thin, flaccid and a bit chewy; the (delicious) toppings slid right off. The goat cheese ravioli was served with an overly sweet balsamic drizzle and dried cranberries that overpowered the dish. Our server, while very pleasant and nice, pushed all of our food out at once - we ordered starters, mains -- and they literally all arrived at the table at the same time cramping our small 2-top table. Made us feel very, very rushed.
Second time at Pizzeria Orso and reminded that you can easily share a pizza if you have a first course. Pizza was great but the poached pear salad, while good, was way overpriced for what it was. Orso needs a better choice for starter salads. Server did a good job. Wil return.
So many great menu items, it was hard to choose what to eat! Great calamari, fantastic chopped salad, delicious brussel sprout chips, roasted cauliflower, lamb sliders -- not to mention the pizza. We sat outside for a Saturday lunch, and when we first arrived (1:30 p.m.) the noise level was irritating because of all the screaming kids running around with no parental attempts to control them. They thankfully disappeared pretty quickly, however, so I would recommend arriving for lunch around 2 p.m. at the earliest, unless you like shrieking children. Service was almost too good, with our server coming up repeatedly to ask us if we were ready to place our "main" order. Limited wine list but good options available.
First time visitor to Pizzeria Orso. Pizza very good - the ham used on the pizzas is flat out awesome. Atmosphere was very family friendly and it looked like large groups could be accommodated. Not ideal for a first date because the volume on a Friday night was a bit loud, but definitely good for dates.
As regulars at this location I enjoy their pizza a lot. The crust is thin and chewy and the toppings are fresh. The restaurant itself, though, is about ready for a cleaning or renovation. The cloth in the booths is stained and just looks dirty. It's tough to keep a pizza place clean with all the kids and maybe cloth isn't as good a choice in seating surface as vinyl.
Only reason I went to Pizzeria Orso was to get the bacon sticky buns that a friend told me I had to try. They only have them during Sunday brunch. Checked the website, looked at the brunch menu, saw the sticky buns, made the reservation. Show up and was told that they no longer offer brunch and bacon sticky buns aren't on their regular menu. Really bummed me out, almost left, but as a pizza junkie took the opportunity to try the pizza. Pizza was OK, good crust, too light on the sauce and toppings. It was pizza, but not good enough to come back.
Excellent appetizers, pizza (Toscani was fantastic), and dessert.
We went on a Saturday night around 730, place was packed. However, it cleared out substantially around 815. We’re not from the Falls Church area, but were in the area that night. I was expecting a quaint neighborhood family style pizzeria. It is very loud, probably because it’s very open and in an office style building with lots of windows. I thought it was a bit over-priced for the quality. I would note that two adults could share a pizza as well as two kids could share the kiddo size. We bought 4 pizzas based off our waiter’s recommendation- we took home a full box plus.
As always, Will Artley and his team provided a foodie dining experience in "just a pizza place". The restaurant itself on the surface seems like just a family restaurant and it is, but it is sooooo much more. All the various small plates that the chef offers are creative and tasty. Service is prompt and friendly. The menu gets changed up seasonally and there are specials based on various food items that they can get in. Who knew brussel sprouts could be so amazingly delicious.
Orzo has some interesting salads and appetizers with a homey atmosphere.
Great Pizza. Also, interesting and well thought out menu. Great appetizers: lentil and squash salad is one of my favorites. Really great sandwiches: tuna salad is one of my favorites. Beautifully decorated and comfortable seating. Also does gluten-free pizza crust if you call ahead.
The food was really good and reasonably priced. And you will have no problem getting a table (or parking for that matter) on a Sunday morning! Strongly recommended!
This place really exceeds expectations. Artley's food is right up my alley. The pizza's are the best in the WDC area but I usually take with because we want to eat the rest of the menu! I try to stay away from prime kid time. Warning! Lots of kids!
Innovative menu, modern ambience with old world charm
Pizza was excellent according to my husband and there were lots of other interesting and different options unexpected for a pizza place. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks in the restaurant. My only complaint was that I would have liked more gluton free options and I did not feel like they have given much consderation for this on their menu.however, we were there for brunch during restaurant week and they did not have all their normal options available. We will definately be back to try some other things
Every time I dine here I leave stuffed and happy! The food is fantastic and the service has improved to the point that it matches the cuisine!
I really don't want to encourage anyone to go to Orso because I don't want it to get to crowded. They turn out really first rate pies with interesting toppings, a variety of sauce options and a superlative crisp crust. The apps are sides are solid, but it all about the pizza and that is just first rate.
The pizza was amazing and we loved the brussel chips. We enjoyed the atmosphere and had a great overall experience! We'll definitely go back.
I visited Pizzaria Orso during restaurant week and enjoyed their very generous lunch special menu: an appetizer selection (literally could choose from half the menu, including small portions of their pasta dishes) a pizza and a beverage. Everything we had was delicious. I was specifically blown away by the BLT gnocchi, which was made in house and probably among the best gnocchi I've ever tasted. I look forward to returning!
Pizzeria Orso offers the best family meal deal in the DC Area. Their appetizers are fresh and not in the usual category. Their pizza selections are superb. And best of all their prices, especially at lunch are amazing. If your in the mood for pizza preceded by fun appetizers, Pizzeria Orso should be your choice.
We love this place, but I have to admit sometimes the food is hit or miss, but the hits keep bringing us back.
Delicious food!! Great pizza and calamari and brownie with vanilla gelato! Waiter could have been a little more attentive. My table and table behind me had to frequently signal for SOMEONE/ANYONE for drinks, refills, napkins, extra sauce, etc. Outside of our waiter's service which I think was not representative of the overall service of the restaurant, the food and ambience was wonderful and we will be returning.
The waffle was surprisingly good for a pizza place. Also, the sticky bun was so soft it was crazy. But the best part was the breakfast pizza. Who would think maple syrup on a pizza would be good, but it is. Try it out.
In the city of Falls Church, you don't have a ton of options. This is a great place that has so much more than good pizza. My first time going for brunch which was good but the normal lunch and dinner menu are far more delicious!!
We have been here numerous times and are always happy with our meal.
This place never lets us down. We took friends who were visiting from Kosovo here. They were delighted with the food and our waiter was wonderful!! All of the shared plates are delicious!!
A great place for families, but there is no changing station in the women's restroom!
Maybe this is my fault for going there with high expectations after reading about it on thrillist.com. Apparently this made their top 12 restaurants in DC suburbs. I clearly think this is not the case. Don't get me wrong, there isn't anything very wrong with this place, but at the same time nothing stands out. Décor is dull, service is fair, and the food is plain. When I say plain I really mean it. Their pizza dough is ok, but the taste is clearly not there. Also, whatever you do don't order the octopus. So bottom line, I could see going back there if I lived in the neighborhood and/or I had kids, but I don't so I won't go back again.
Wayyyyyyy too noisy! Loved the creative menu, mwith a myriad of choices. Healthy options along with the others. Our waitress was a gem. The notice was an issue for us.
We saw a documentary on WETA on Washington DC's best pizzas, and so we found you. Excellent pizza!! We will be back.
Not the easiest place to find, but we went around 3pm on a weekend and were pretty much the only people there. The wood fired cauliflower was amazing, I am already craving the Fun Guy Pizza again. If you have kids expecting a standard frozen pepperoni pizza you may have issues, they use real cheese that has a flavor to it and it has a different consistency. I think this is a good think, but I see how some kids may not like it.
This is a family friendly pizza restaurant. Interesting combinations. They will build you anything you want. There is parking under the building so don't think you need to sit on the street.
Was there a few weeks ago and went again tonight. Great food, dessert.....wine, apps, and service.
A pizza was missing an add-on ingredient so the chef made an additional pizza to go home with us! An unnecessary gesture but greatly appreciated! Great good and service! Will most definitely go back! Lived up to our expectations.
Not a fancy place, but clean, spacious. Very good pizza, excellent service, I wish I had asked the server his name so I could give him credit! Made some good recommendations, which we liked.
I hope you keep your menu as is and overall ambience. If you try to cater to each and every person out there, you'll loose what you got going.
I wish you continued success. My family and I really enjoy your food, service and ambience. Also, I'm very glad that you are 5 minutes away from our home :-)
p.s. maybe- only introduce couple of pizza and pasta dishes that are gluten free for many sensitive people out there.
To be fair, I am a pizza snob. I make my own pizza using Kettle Pizza and I am willing to travel to find truly good pizza. Pizzeria Orso is a strong #3 in the area, behind Pupatella and Two Amy's. They have a great wood fire pizza and they got the crust absolutely perfect with just the right amount of char. We ordered two pizzas, one of course was their DOC to see how they compare with the other DOC pizzas in the area. While their pizza was very good, it is #3 on the list as I mentioned. However, Orzo does come in WAY ahead of the others in terms of their other offerings. They have a great beer list, tons of good sides and awesome desserts. We also loved eating outside and the restaurant is not nearly as cramped as the other two.
