The restaurant and decor was pretty nice. The main thing I would have issue with is that the food that had a tomato-base was extremely bland. Seems like they just spooned out some crushed tomatoes from a can. We had two of the tomato-based pizzas and bruschetta. The crust on the pizza was pretty good. Again though, the tomato sauce seemed like it was straight from the can. Bruschetta was extremely bland. Just a piece of French bread with some chopped tomatoes on top. Not a disaster by any means but we will probably not go back with so many other choices around.
Food was great and our server, Jeff, was terrific!
Out first time here and it was very good. We made reservations before seeing a show and the location was perfect. We could park and walk to the restaurant and then walk to the venue to see the show. A show is more enjoyable when you have had a good meal and this did just that. Food was very good and the service was excellent.
This is one of very few options within one block of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. and it is an outstanding choice for pre or post theater dining.
This was my third time here and the food has been excellent every time, but unfortunately not the service. First time the service was outstanding, but the second and third time, was severely lacking. We waited a very long time for our drinks, even though I could see them sitting on the bar ready for quite some time, the waiter forgot my lemon for the water three times, just like the previous visit. The prices are ok, but I honestly would expect better service. Food is excellent so the service does put a damper on things. I tried to signal to our waiter several times when I wanted to order a second glass of wine, but he seemed to be completely in his own world. Once he left our table, it was like he disappeared and it was extremely difficult to locate him. The waiter at the table next to us was superb and he was actually the one who finally brought the lemon wedges. I guess we've been unlucky with our servers since the first visit. I would say - if management is listening - to be a bit more discerning with waiting staff and provide training. Perhaps have a manager oversee the tables, as I don't recall seeing a manager on either occasion that we were there. I'm not sure if we'll return - great pizza but frustrating service.
Great, enjoyed the meal before the theater.
Convenient if you're attending a DCPA show or play. Steps from light rail station.
We're always pleased with the choice to dine at Pizza Republica. Nice staff, delicious food. Would recommend a reservation if you have tickets to the theatre, it fills up even on weekdays.
Have had many excellent experiences at other Pizza Republica locations, however we did not at the downtown location Saturday night 2.24.18. Having dinner prior to symphony event. Customer service was terrible. Took forever to get acknowledged, water, drink orders.
Never received bread we ordered w/our salads and pizza was delivered luke warm. NEVER checked on our table again. Had wanted another round of drinks, but was never given the opportunity.
Really disappointing experience. Will not return. Too many choices for pre/post theater dinner options.
The food and service were great. It can get a little excessively noisy when busy but not to bad. The pizza's are delicious!
The setting is lovely - relaxed elegance. Perfect for a date or evening with friends. We shared the barata and the olive and almonds appetizers. They were both fantastic.
We also had the kale and beet salad and caesar salad, both excellent. I really enjoyed the gluten free margarita pizza. But my husband and one of our friends had the short rib with polenta and found it disappointing compared to the same dish at Humboldt Farm, Fish, and Wine.
Great, attentive waiter. Good food. Very nice ambiance.
The food was great but poor service. Our waiter pretty much ignored us once he took our order. Fortunately another waitress helped us when we needed something and our waiter wouldn’t even look at us.
Great pizza - especially gluten free pizza! The pizza's could have used a bit more cheese though.
Going to theater
Best pizza in Denver.
It was just meh. Pizza choices look good in writing but fail to deliver on taste. One kind of Italian beer, Moretti on tap and mine was totally flat. The asparagus appetizer wasn’t tender but it did have a lovely flavor. The salad was overdressed, I only ate a few bites.
I would go back for the convenience to the Buell, otherwise it wouldn’t be even a thought.
Our waitress was excellent - friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, fun and helpful. The food was served very quickly and was all very good. The room was a little cold, but not too bad. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.
Efficient, friendly and attentive service.
Meal was delicious. Wait staff was generally attentive and noise level was good for a full restaurant. Conveniently located for a night at DCPA.
We had Caesar salads that were way over dressed and bad lettuce((brown). They took charge off menu so that was good. Just felt like food was over done—too much Dressing, too much garlic, etc. our waiter was efficient and I did appreciate them taking off salads. We just wanted a nice experience on Christmas Eve and it was a bit disappointing.
We always eat here when we go to the theater. The servers always ask if we are going to a show and pay attention to timing. The fresh Burrata is out of this world. Very nice wine list.
I came here with six girlfriends last night for my birthday and before a show at 6:30. I asked for a table for six when I arrived at 4:30 and was told no, despite the restaurant being empty. When the six guests showed up, we were told by the host we had to leave because we were a fire hazard at the table they’d seated us at.
In the time we were ordered several rounds of drinks and appetizers which came out quickly and tasted fine, but then when we ordered the pizza it took nearly 40 minutes, so we asked for it to be put in a box. When the host told us a second time we had to leave, we grabbed our pizza to go and ate it standing in the bar area - to which we were told we were not allowed to eat our Pizza Republica pizza out of a Pizza Republica box because it “was bad for their image.”
Given that all of the problems were their fault, it was pretty frustrating that we got blamed for everything. I’m surprised they don’t have more experience serving people who have to make it to a 6:30 show, given that they are the restaurant next door. Will not be back.
Pizza Republica is a fabulous place to enjoy pizza and a little wine before going to productions at the DCPA. The location is just a block or two from the theatre. Pizza Republica has an extensive menu with some usual and unusual items to enhance your pizza. Very good and tasty.
The staff provided great service with just the right touch of attention. Because of traffic in Denver, we arrived late for our reservations. I did call them and they were very accommodating to push our reservation later as needed.
Perfect place to go before heading over to the Buell! Outstanding service and pizzas were exceptional!! Will definitely return.
This is our favorite place to go before a show at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. The are fast and the food is delicious. They also have a wonderful wine list. Unfortunately they've gone with American sodas and dropped the Italian sodas, but that is the only complaint.
Really enjoyed the pizza and the quality of the meats. Great pre-Theatre or Pre-symphony outing
I love it here and have never been disappointed. It's so convenient to Denver Center. I know they get a lot of business from shows. It's a nice casual atmosphere with lovely food, wine and cocktails.
There were 8 in our party and we were able to enjoy time with everyone as our table was in a back room. Our server was helpful and prompt and when the dessert we ordered took too long, they took care of it and still brought it out. Great dinner and experience!
We were celebrating two birthdays as well as going to the theatre. I didn't even know Pizza Republica existed much less just how close it is to the DCPA.
The wait staff was super friendly and knowledgeable.
We had a lot of fun and the convenience factor would make me want to go there every time we go to DCPA. It's NOT your ordinary pizza joint, it is a great Italian dining experience. I am anxious to try several things on the menu in my next visits. They have a full bar but LOTs of Italian wines to try.
Food was all delicious and the service was amazing. Our washer was very attentive and made sure to check on us often but not so much that it became bothersome. He also did a fantastic job answering all our questions and describing every facet of the meal in detail.
Hats off to the Sangria, it is now a new favorite... AMAZING!
I got my daughter tickets to see Rent at the Buell Theater for her birthday. Pizza Republica is close by, delicious, with awesome service!
We love this restaurant. Our only complaint is that we usually come for the Sunday matinee performances at the Arts Center next door, but the restaurant is not open on Sunday for lunch. Being between the convention center and the arts center, how can they be closed when so many people are in the area? Besides that, we love this place and always prefer to eat there if they are open!
The food was very good and we didn't feel rushed through our meal. We enjoy this restaurant, especially before an evening at the DCPA.
Went to meet a friend that I havent seen in 8 years.
I suggested this place since its close to convention center and have been here before and was good but NOT THIS TIME.
We showed up on Thursday evening, bar empty with 1 other couple.
**Bartender ( female) basically talked to couple for 10-15 min b4 we were waited on and told us to "hold on"...
**She was semi quiet, snooty and a tad rude like we were inconveniencing her. Bar was empty 90% of the time until the plays were out.
**Food was so disappointing. Caprese salad- ( mozzarella was old, sour and bad), had a dirty plate to take back. Although the basic Italian salad with balsamic dressing was very good! Pizza was good.
**Overall, this dinner should of been a slam dunk, but we just overall felt like the waitress was a dud and was just kinda getting through her evening with energy nor care. Just going through motion I guess.
** This restaurant gets a ton of out of state customers so this is perfect place to shine.
Bartender usually ROCK! We Just had a dud night with service.
I love the main dining area and the bar area. We were seated in the backroom that is just not as appealing for smaller parties, but would be great for a larger group.
Loved the salad, wine was fine the waitress was awesome, we were going to a show and the pizza was slow so we ate faster than we wanted to, but awesomely good wish I had some now. Highly recommended I'll be back for sure.
Best part of dinner was the service. We had an absolutely awesome Core Cori(?). I had margarita pizza. It was ok..served on the cool side, not piping hot. Chicken and pear salad, amazingly delicious. Rigatoni Bolognase was my hasband’s Choice...he loved it.duck and fig pizza also got a thum’s up. Nona’s stuffed shells...Yummy. Chianti 🍷 delicious. I would return often if I lived in Denver.
Our only complaint was the length of time it took to get our entrees after we ordered. We informed our server from the outset that we needed to be out at a certain time for the theater. Our drinks and salads came quickly, but it was at least another 20 minutes afterwards that we got our pizzas and then had to eat fairly quickly.
Excellent as usual! One of those places we say we should go to more often!
