Pitrelli's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Sausage & shrimp spezzatino was just ok. Too much pasta and shrimp was tiny and not enough.
Spaghetti and meatballs was good, but meatballs not cooked all the way through- cold in the center.
Really enjoyed the house side salad with the balsamic vinegarette dressing. Wish the dressing was available to buy.
A GEM!!!!! Been looking for a good Italian restaurant for a long time. Found it. The service professional, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful; the food....where to begin...delicious, perfect seasoning, perfect temperature, more than enough (take home makes me happy); the atmosphere subdued, pleasant, sufficient space between tables and booths; recorded music...nice and low; will return to enjoy strolling violinist. Simply said, "thank you, thank you, thank you!!!"
I love this place and see it as a hidden gem. My only “complaint” or dissatisfier was the lack of attention from our waiter. It was clearly obvious he was taking care of a lot of tables but we never seemed to be top of mind. I don’t know if they were short staffed that night but it took him almost thru half of our meal before he asked how it was. For a place that’s on the higher priced side (but delicious), it would have been nice to get a little More attention from our waiter.
Numerous visits to this restaurant and never a bad experience. I know we have other choices, but why would we need to choose another restaurant? Staff is always friendly and service is fantastic. Food is always prepared thoroughly and flavor, taste and value never disappoints. It's just such a pleasure to have a restaurant of this quality always available and so reliable. The ownership are genuinely glad to see you and appreciative of your business.
Struggled making reservations with the OT app as there was a server issue but I eventually made reservations for 8pm. Arrived 15 min early and spoke to the owner who was very nice- discussed the long family history in regards to the numerous photos on the wall. Seated about 8:05, after first being told 45 minute wait. Ironically OT showed 3 other availabilities within that time frame and only waited 5 minutes. I had the Porcelini and Truffle Ravioli and guest opted for the “Cincinnati Best” pizza. Ravioli was okay- served in a broth instead of a marinara or other thicker sauce one usually sees. Not my particular preferred method but dish was okay. Pizza was good but crust was a little too tough and chewy. The eggplant appetizer was a winner and the most memorable. Given what we ordered it seemed it was a long wait to get the entree’s as we ordered immediately. Their were two large parties (extremely loud) in the room and from my experience, that requires extra hands as there were simply too many people for one server too handle. Gina did an excellent job, but she is limited to the speed of the kitchen so no fault to her. There is a lot of family history and a lot of loyal customers and without trying other dishes I can’t really say it was memorable enough to revisit. Extremely friendly staff but felt the history and word of mouth (how I heard about it) creates a high expectation that rarely is lived up to. In other words, I’m unsure if reviews are from that’s what everyone is used to as their rating basis or it’s from loyalty due to its rich history. There is lot of history on the block is not always mean the best. On another note I was contacted by OT as it wasn’t marked that we there and had to submit proof to prove I was as OT was having internet connection issues and just added more confusion. Overall I’m neutral as I entered with an open mind but wasn’t fully satisfied.
I met a couple of friends here before a play in Mason. None of us had dined here, but we all really enjoyed our meals. Two of us had the salmon and it was moist and crispy on top of delicious angle hair pasta. it was light and tasty. We each had a house glass of wine and a dessert. I had the pumpkin cannoli and it was really really good. The price was in line with the quality of the food and the ambience. I will definitely go back.
We visit Pirelli's often. The food and service are always good. Last night we brought another couple with us. We found the seating at one of the booths both pleasant and private. Kerry was our server. She always does a bang up job and last night was no exception.
We decided on a simple meal of wine, salad, and pizza. All were wonderful. We continue to visit because everything is consistently good. We highly recommend the restaurant!
Had a great experience...table was ready upon arrival...hostess and waitress were both friendly...food choices were excellent and waitress took the time to explain dishes and made sure we were not hurried through our meal...gave us some suggestions on dessert and all recommendations were great...drove from Dayton but worth the drive...will be back again...
Visited Pitrelli's for the first time on a Friday night. It was during a downtown block party but we managed to get reservations that afternoon. It was a good thing we did bc they were packed that evening. Noise level though moderate, wasn't intrusive. We were still able to have enjoyable date-night conversation, and delight in the plates that ensued.
We started with bread and their to-die for- herbed? butter and a bottle of red. Our server, David offered to let us try, upon request, two separate Pinots that were already open. We settled on a Block 9 and enjoyed it throughout the meal.
House salad and Cesaer- house shined. Bruschetta appetizer, quite unique, a bt of a kick, scrumptious.
My husband had the lasagna, which despite its size and look was quite light for lasagna but hearty and from from lacking in flavor and substance. I snuck a bite and savored it. I went with the linguine and clams red sauce but had it with gluten free penne which also was a pleasant surprise. The gluten free pasta (typically a bit in the mealy, crumbly side) was barely noticeable and the clam sauce was some of the best I've ever had. And as an Italian, I've had a lot!
We finished with coffee, tiramisu and a yellow cake of some sort. Both were delicious. The tiramisu had wonderful chocolate nibs laced into it that went perfectly. Both desserts were great with coffee.
David was really wonderful, boxing up all out leftovers (even the bread and butter) and for the leftovers we enjoyed the following night (still fantastic!) it was a great night out, meal and value all around.
We were spending a few days at Great Wolf Lodge and wanted something other than lodge food for dinner. This place had good reviews, so we thought we'd check it out. It was just stupendous.
We booked for 5:00 pm, opening time and they were ready. We were immediately seated inside, but the server suggested we might want to move outdoors. 75 degrees on an August evening in Ohio? Sure, you bet! We got a bigger table that way, and the patio to ourselves with lovely flowers and a nice breeze. We were fine in casual wear.
The server was attentive (maybe just a touch too much, but better that than the reverse), and offered to guide us toward whatever we might like the best. He explained the special and described various choices. When he heard we were in town celebrating an anniversary, he indicated he'd provide dessert, even though we weren't there on the day itself.
Hubby had chicken parmesan with the basil garlic sauce. He said the breading was crisp and it was tasty, with a very flavorful sauce. Only quibble was not quite enough cheese, but then he'd swim in cheese if he could, so take that with a grain of salt. I had my old standby spaghetti and meatballs with the same basil garlic sauce (they have about 7-8 choices), and I couldn't believe the flavor they got throughout the sauce, not just here and there. Meatballs were fist sized and tender. Neither of us could finish our portions.
As promised, we were given a canoli for dessert. Not huge, but plenty to split after that meal. It wasn't overly sweet, but amazingly rich - almost a cookies and cream flavored filling and very crispy shell. I swear someone's Italian granny was in the kitchen.
Pitrelli's may well become a go-to if we spend time in Mason again!
The service was wonderful. The food was good. I had Chicken Parm. It was good but for the price, which doesn't include a salad, it should have been remarkable. This is the only time I have been here. A friend had a pizza. They loved it. I would come again for a special occasion.
It was our first time visiting and we loved it! Our waiter was great and the food was fantastic! The only thing I would want changed is maybe having the chef not leave as much water in the bottom of the bowl from the pasta. The pasta would be better if it wasn't sitting in the water from when the pasta was pulled out of the boiling pot. Maybe draining it better.. Other than that the trip was great and we will definitely be back!
