Amazing great tasting food and value. Everyone had a great meal. So good the first time, we all decided to come back again and were equally impressed.
Loved our experience here. Food wonderful and nice ambiance for a birthday celebration for my lovely lady. Two disappointments:
- Shocked by $25 corkage for the special 2008 vintage wine I brought for the occasion, I feel excessive
- Surprised the birthday candle flan dessert I requested was not complimentary, standard in most restaurants
Very disappointing although the staff were very friendly. One chicken dish that was fried in batter had a very very thin piece of super tough chicken smother in batter. The ceviche chunks of fish were super large and not too flavorful. The shrimp dish was OK. The sauteed spinach was the winner and it was fine. For the food it was not an inexpensive restaurant!
Opted to share a bunch of tapas and I’m already ready to go back and try some more! Everything was delicious, fresh, and paired well with their red wine selection.

We have been to Piqueos a dozen times, ranging from excellent to this time, mediocre. The delicate preparation and subtle sauces we became used to were not present. However, the management seems happy enough with their success to jack up the prices considerably -- you used to be able to have a nice meal from several tapas, now it outstrips the cost of entrees to feed yourself that way. The staff blamed the poor service on a party being held in the back, but the front wasn't completely full so that seemed a lame excuse. We hope this doesn't bleed over to their sister restaurant La Costanera.

First we have been before and loved the food. That said, we decided to go for Valentine’s Day dinner. For starters, we were not told that it would be fixed price when we made the reservation. We were surprised to see this when we arrived but decided to go ahead and stay for the very high price tag of $60 per person before beverages. When the food arrived it was mediocre at best, and the service was almost nonexistent. When it was there it was greatly lacking. She didn’t even ask if Iwe wanted another drink when she took our empty glasses. The table next to us had been waiting 45 minutes for chips and salsa. The fact that we know how good it can be made the experience even more disappointing. It was also kind of typical of what’s happened to San Francisco. $150 for a mediocre dinner for two in Bernal Heights. Very disappointing.
Peruvian with chinese influence on the menu, unfortunately missed on the dishes we had. Chino Ceviche - Sweet chili sauce was way too sweet, no balance in the dish. Pulpito was fresh and potatoes well executed. Lomo Saltado was good. Overall, good but not worth the prices, better food and value across the street at Red Hill Station.
Excellent food. Came here for a birthday dinner with a small group of friends. Really loved the cozy atmosphere and delicious tapas. Favorites were black squid ink paella, sautéed baby octopus and fresh ceviche. Was able to bring my own bottle of red wine to dinner which really enhanced the dining experience. A great find for SF dining especially on a busy Saturday night.
I love their garlic sauce with bread! Sangria is really good. Overall their food is amazing & the service is always delightful!
This was a great find. It's a small neighborhood spot, the food is excellent. Everything came out fresh, hot and delicious. The sauces especially were great. We ordered paella as our entree which has to be done very well to be worthwhile. It was delicious. Highly recommended.

We used to come here often, and absolutely loved everything about it. The ambiance, the service, and most importantly, the food was consistently delicious! Tonight was an epic fail. Not sure if they switched owners, or what, but something was definitely off. The music was obnoxious, the service was slow, and the food was not good. One dish was under cooked, another was over cooked...the fish in the ceviche was chewy... just gross. Also, it seems as though they raised the prices... Hoping this was just an off night. We’ll give them one more shot...
It was a little noisy for such a tiny place. But once the loud crowd left, it was nice to have our date together. The service, food, and interiors are always a treat for us.
My new favorite Peruvian restaurant. Two kinds of paella. Tapas and entrees.
Cannot believe Zagat published such a positive review on a restaurant that lacks food and service quality.
We were a party of six and shared several of the tapas. They were all delicious and brought to our table with perfect timing. We never felt rushed, but never had to wait for the next servings. I have never been to South America but if Piqueos is any indication of cuisine in Peru, I'd sure love to go.
Great for a date night; cozy spot in Bernal with great drinks, food, and waitstaff. Definitely way too expensive to frequent on a regular basis though.
Good seafood, although the sauces were a bit heavy. Nice selection of South American wines. Fast, good service. Overall, a solid local restaurant with a good vibe.
We've been there 3 times and ordered the same dishes and each time 5 stars, but this time the same items were far from the previous two visits. The stuffed avocado tastes like day old crunch chicken, which wasn't appetizing, the paella that touted chorizo had a basic anduille or brats instead. Not appealing and was supposed to be the weekend special. The should use real Spanish chorizo.
I'll try it again, and hopefully it's back to the way it was then first two times.

Food is always great here. After waiting 35+ minutes after ordering, I asked the server what was going on as I had never waited that long before. She told me that there had been a problem with our order and that somehow only one of our two dinners were noted so that started both again. They offered us complimentary desserts, and when we declined dessert, they took $5 off each entree. Next time it would be best to inform diners when/if a problem arises and a delay occurs.
Found this place by random and decided to stop by because I’ve never had Peruvian food. So glad I did! The food was incredible. We tried the ceviche, scallops, yuccas, and pallea. It was all incredible. Pair that with some of the best sangria I’ve had and a fantastic flan to finish and you can be assured that I will be back here. Amazing experience. You won’t regret dining here.
All the food came at once which diminished the enjoyment of the very well prepared dishes. The menu has many interesting plates. I would have liked it to be a little more sophisticated than the neighborhood joint that it is. We might have lingered longer if that had been the case. I think the chef deserves diners to savor his food!
Reviews/ awards indicated that this would be a good spot for our reunion dinner. Piqueo's staff & food exceeded their online reputation. Was worth Venturing out of downtown. Will return.
My husband and I absolutely love Piqueos! We used to eat here when we lived in California, and now we return every time we're in town. It is absolutely delicious!
Everything at Piqueo's is fantastic. Favorites tonight were the Taquenos, the pork ribs and the fried mushrooms, but all the dishes were unique and flavorful. Desserts were amazing - quinoa flan, suspiro and passion fruit Panama cotta. How can you go wrong? We love taking out of town guests here. So different!
We absolutely loved the experience at this restaurant! We sat close to the open kitchen and could watch them make the food. All of the food we had was great but the lamb & the Humita Dulce were our favorite!
First time there, really pleased with the delicious food and service. The atmosphere was lovely and inviting. Will definitely go back again!

I've been going to the restaurant since they opened. They raised prices on menu a lot especially ceviche ; ) They started to push Plantain chips on all ceviche orders. If you say "YES," there will be additional $6 charge. This restaurant was a bit expensive than other Peruvian restaurnats in SF before but now it a lot more expensive than the others. I had some issues with their two glasses of red wine last time. I am not sure if it is worth going back there again.
Family visiting from Denmark had one evening for a special dinner before leaving the bay area for Yosemite so we picked Piqueos to share a special meal and were not disappointed. Everything met or exceeded expectations and our visiting family hope for a repeat when they visit again.
Very tasty and interesting dishes, we would definitely go back and try other tapas. Our daughter was recently in Peru and felt the inspired dishes really hit the mark
First time here. Didn't get much help with ordering a balanced meal. Everything was over sauced and over cooked.
The food was great. Peruvian flavors were abundant throughout each selection but definitely a fusion cuisine. We had an early dinner and the service was excellent. It was the weekend so had to try the weekend paella. Wasn't disappointed! The Mac and Cheese was a surprise hit. Only regret was there were so many other menu items didn't get to try.
Working my way through the menu visit by visit: Pork adobo is wonderful, Paella is some of the best I have had, and this last visit had the Churrasco (pictured)....an amazing steak and fries with chimichurri from heaven!
We had a tapas style dinner and had lots of different Peruvian favorites, all of them were excellent!
Will definitely come back, great place!
