Food is outstanding. Unique selection of dishes and outstanding preparation
This time we tried a few new things: Quinoa risotto, Lomo saltado and the yucca, potato fries. Everything tasted great!...the beef in the lomo saltado tasted like the beef in the anticuchos (beef on a stick) so soft. I will return next week with another group of friends, can't get enough of Piqueos.
Very authentic with a terrific ambiance.
I think the food is better at Mochica. The chicken I ordered was a bit dry and the service was fair.
As usual, the food was exquisite. Unfortunately, I dropped my walled in the restaurant and staff members were not helpful in supporting my efforts to find it. Since I frequent Piqueos often and have recommended it to folks visiting San Francisco, I am extremely disappointed.
This was another great meal in one of my neighborhood favorites. I went early and even though others were eating, the noise level was excellent. So was the food and the service. This time my friend and I shared some 'small' plates, but they were not all small. The flavor and sauces were perfect. With so many choices in SF, this is still a favorite. I'll be back!
I brought my friends to my favorite restaurant. It lived up to my rave reviews. The food was excellent. The staff were very patient to one guest showing up late and having to rearrange tables (a second time). We had a wide range of food and everyone was pleased.
The place is lively. Tables are close together which allows you the opportunity to check out the many different dishes on the extensive menu before you order. In addition we could see the open kitchen which adds to the excitment of the dining experience. We decided to stick with the Tapas dishes and ordered the chicken thighs, scallops, shrimp, crab and corn cakes as well as the chips. Every plate was unique, nicely presented, very tasty and perfectly cooked. The only complaints we have would be the prices are high for the size and the chips were $9 for practically nothing. Also be aware the place is outside the city in a very nodescript neighborhood.
Though I like Peruano food I wish someone would put a little spin on it.Costanera y piqueos es bueno...muy bien...pero. Just we are here in San Francisco...broaden the menu..learn poke no attempt, serioanyone there ever taste real poke'??? Been Hawaii? Entiendo? Cowhearts ever hit garlic and olive oil? con mucho cilantro? ono ono...I know I know, tradition.....u tried with my ahi to make something new.Try something outta the ordinary, chefs please create..I'm a foodie
Delicious dishes. The ceviche was mouth watering. Our server Pacaric was attentive and nice. Will come back again and will definitely try Mochica's.
I love Piqueos...see my other reviews of the place.
The food was good, and the waitress friendly and attentive, but the food came out ridiculously slow. We arrived 45 mins. early for our reservation, and they were good enough to seat us early. We were sat around 7:30 and unfortunately did not leave until past 9:45. It took a while to put in an order, it took really long to get our food, and they even forgot one of our items ordered. After I said something about the long wait to the waitress, she comped us two of our beers and included free dessert and coffee. Still not quite enough to remedy the absurdly long wait. Didn't help that tables around us, that arrived after us were getting food. Hopefully, they were only having an off night with our table(there were only two of us.)
superb food a great find for different food and flavors. Will be a regular of ours. So nice to get real flavors instead of the normal sauces and menus.
Well done GO THERE
First time at was a Piqueos was a great experience. We will be going back and are happy to have this great restaurant close to where we live.
First time dining here and will DEFINITELY return. Loved, loved, loved everything we ate! Fantastic flavor, presentation and food quality. Would highly recommend to anyone!
The food was great! All very hot and fresh. I took a friend from NY, who had very opposite tastes from me, and we both were very pleased with the food, service, and the overall restaurant.
Place is very tiny and cramped. Conversation is nearly impossible, had to shout at your dinner companion for conversation. Food was excellent but pricey.
Exceptional! I travel to the Bay Area on business about six times a year and always make it a point to have dinner at Piqueos. Great food, great service, great wine!
Piqueo's was a great find. Seafood dishes, esp. Cebiches were excellent, wonderful marinating sauces and perfectly done seafood with it. The sweet potato fries were caramelized beautifully on the edges and sprinkled with light cheese, a perfect combination. The seafood paella was delicious, but would preferred that it be served in a paellera to make some of the rice toasty and crispy on the edges. At least this is how I like it. Sangria was great to have on a warm evening. Our waiter, "Pahika(???) was attentive and made sure we got everything we wanted. Piqueoes is on oasis in Bernal Heights.
Delicious food and decent size portions.
The wait staff were quick and very gracious. The place maintains a chic yet romantic atmosphere.
The food was delicious and we enjoyed the experience of leisurely dining as each dish was served course by course. Our waiter, while busy, was very pleasant and attentive. The restaurant was very busy and so quite noisy. There is no separation between the cooking and the tables so the kitchen smells got a bit overpowering at times. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and are looking forward to going back again.
the food was pretty good, especially their paella and empanadas. though the wait staff was nice, the service was slow and understaffed when we went on a Sunday evening. i would recommend making reservations.
What a disappointment. I took my Peruvian husband there for his birthday and he ordered a very popular dish in Peru called Lomo Saltado. It was terrible! How can you ruin Lomo?
Fortunately they waitress was able to bring him something else which was very good.
The cebiche was excellent and would go back for that.
We had been to their sister restaurant Mochica many times, & like the food, ambiance, & the service there as well. But this time we found the food at Piqueos outstanding....every dish we had was flavorful & different....will definitely be back!
Excellent food! Delicious execution of upscale Peruvian classics. We ate tapas-style and enjoyed every bite. Our waiter provided exceptional recommendations, but then disappeared following dessert. We never saw him again. Ceviche was amazing. Anticuchos was a recommendation and was fantastic. Diverse wine list and another great recommendation.
This was our second time at Piqueo's. Again, the food was outstanding! We were three and had: Stuffed Pepper, Scallops, Lamb shank, 2 plates of cebiche. We shared and universally agreed that the food was simply excellent (even the the lamb practically fell off the bone). Best cebiche around! Oh, and the desserts are melt-away fantastic!
The only negatives are: the noise level is fairly high, and this time we got a table right next to the entrance, so one of us had a bit of a draft to deal with (but it was a hot day, so not too bad). I deducted a point because of the noise, but we will definitely eat there again!
Nice small place. I ordered kinwa salad & missing 2 key ingredients from the menu. cebiche is not so great for the price. arroz con mariscos is good & anti cucho. it took towards the end of the meal when the waiter ask if everything is okay.
A lovely and delicious dining experience. The paella was excellent and service wonderful.
The sauces are fabulous... this is one of the most innovative places going... their food is really stunning and we always take our visitors there and they are just blown away.
This was my 2nd visit to Piqueos and I was not disappointed. I brought my husband (his first time), who is a very picky eater. He does not like restaurants due to his very "clean eating" habits, so I was worried. I was so happy that the vegetables in the Quinoa salad were organic and fresh, he LOVED it. I ordered the Yucca trio dip which he
loved the combinations of flavors of the guacamole, queso, and honey. I tried the chilled
mashed potatoe stacked over avocadoe and topped with chilled marinated octopus and shredded aji , with a spicy sauce lightly dribbled over it..amazing. My husband LOVED the wild alaskan salmon (chef special). Our waitress was WONDERFUL and I was so happy an relieved that my husband actually is going to RECOMMEND.
The begining was a little slow in taking our order. But once they did, the service was good. The food was excellent. One of the best ceviche I ever had.
Large assortment of menu items that are all deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. The service is fantastic and extremely friendly. We stumbled on this little gem and have been going back regularly ever since, having yet to be disappointed.
Pros: good food - flavourful, well-cooked, good ambiance, the starter is excellent. Cons: small portions, relatively expensive.
This Bernal Heights neighborhood gem on Cortland Ave. has a contemporary setting with dark wood in a room filled with windows. They bring a complimentary bowl of fried chick peas mixed with onions and tomatoes. Ordering 3-4 small plates is more than enough food for 2 people. Quinoa salad satisfied my craving for a salad, pescado cerviche was very fresh and delicious, octopus on top of lemony cold mashed potatoes layered with avocado was gorgeous; and the short rib was succulent but we were full by the last dish. Service was excellent and I will visit them again.
Second visit and food was as good as initial trip. Strangely, service was very slow taking 2 hours from the time we sat down to departure. Perhaps they were short on help this night as the dining room didn't seem particularly crowded.
Piqueo is just great. Fantastic food. Setas a little close together, but it wasn't a problem.
We loved this restaurant. Delious food & great atmosphere. We would definitely go back!
I have lived in the Bay Area for 46 years, and never been to Bernal Heights, so it was a bit of a challenge to get here, even with GPS. I have been to Peru however, and this was a delightful set of remembrances. Will return.
Delicious food, small appetizers for the price
