This is probably our fifth visit to Piqeuos, and every time it is a new gastronomical adventure. We love bringing friends with us to share the small plates, and also to share with them this incredible dining experience. Every time we go there, I comment, as each new plate is brought out, that this one is even better than the last. Even after five visits, it seems like this continues to be true. This time our favorites were the quinoa crusted prawns, the short ribs and the yucca fries, but everything else was totally unique and delicious. Also beautifully presented, highly decorative preparations. The staff are friendly and attentive. Our only minor complaint is that the noise level in the main dining area is a bit high. We have sat in the patio area in the past, which was perfect, but was not open when we were there. I have recommended dozens of friends to Piqueos. I'd give them 6 stars, if that were possible.
Liked this place a lot. Much better food, service, and vibe than it's sister place in Montara.
Food and service were outstanding. Our table loved the ribs, scallops, corn cakes, and fried plantains. The vegetarian at our table had a few options, but wished there were more to try for future visits.
The food is always fresh, tasty and wonderful. So happy to have this little restaurant in our Bernal neighborhood.
Great food. Great vibe. Highly recommend!!!
Amazing restaurant! Flavorful food and such a friendly service!
Best Peruvian of SF!
I was really looking forward to trying Piqueos. It's a very friendly, neighborhood restaurant. The service team was helpful though we had a couple hiccups during our experience. We sat in the back room, which made conversations easy. The food was casual and tasty. Nice wine list with great prices!
We were back in the city after a couple of years and thrilled that Piquoes is still there! The food was as good as ever, service was prompt and we were there on the early side, so the restaurant was quiet. Super delicious.
Small, cozy and the food and the service is really good. It’s not my first time at Piqueos and I always come back. Go for the ceviche pescado, scallops, short ribs and churrasco.
Our first spur of the moment dining day after Valentine’s. Turned out fun and delicious! Tapas were all flavorful and fresh! A bit on the pricey side, however we enjoyed our experience!
Best spot in Bernal Heights!
Dinner at Piqueo's was OK. By far, the best dish was the cebiche de pescado. The green salad (with quinoa) was fine--but nothing special. The hint of maracuyá in the dressing was a delicious tease that didn't quite realize itself. The grilled pulpito (octopus) was overcooked, therefore tough, and too charred to enjoy. We also ordered the special, which had assorted seafood. Both the special and the octopus had the red sauce (I forget the name now), which we found lacking in flavor. In general, there were too many potatoes in every dish (including the mixed seafood). I get that potatoes are originally Peruvian and that they figure prominently in the cuisine--but how many potatoes can one eat in a sitting? The ambiance was fine, except that we were crowded into the window area with another couple practically sitting on our laps. The service was excellent.
Nice atmosphere, courteous and efficient service, and DELICIOUS FOOD! We will definitely be back!
This was my favorite restaurant in SF for years on end. They’ve made so many negative changes in the food that I won’t be back
Amazing food!! Loved the ambience.
Took my niece in law there. She thought it was fantastic. Everything in balance- good portions, fresh tastes, fun/hip without too chic. Friendly. My 4th time. Area better than the Dogpatch. Prices very fair. Good selection of wines by the glass.
Quaint and authentic neighborhood restaurant that serves up Peruvian food. Personally tend to go for the tapas for sharing. Cebiche Pescado, Scallops, and quinoa crusted Shrimp on a sweet corn tamale are fantastic; especially when paired with the Chilean Sauvignon blanc. Big plus is service and prices are quite decent for SF!
Can’t go wrong with Piqueo’s! Good food, great service and wonderful place.
I always recommend it to my friends!
We had a reservation at 9 PM for which we were on time but our table was not ready. Fine, we wait 15 minutes and get our table. As we look over the menu we are told the kitchen is about to close. So we have to rush. Fine. We order a few beers. Food arrives, no drinks, we ask, no drinks, we ask again and again. Finally as our plates are being cleared the drinks show up. The food was ok but not good enough to balance out the poor service and being rushed. If the kitchen closes at 9:30, they should not allow reservations at 9 that may not get seated until 9:15 or 9:20. Simple.
One of the party members waited over 15 minutes for entree. The noise level was exceptionally loud. Finally they slammed 5 people into a tight table that was meant for 4 at most. I had to put my jacket on the floor because we were so squished in. I have been many times and like the food. Unfortunately this is the best I can give for this experience.
They could use some help with the lighting, but other than that, we had a great time. Mochica is my #1, but this is a close second. Piqueos is now my favorite restaurant on Cortland. It’s more intimate than Mochica, which fits the neighborhood. Will definitely go there again.
Very nice find in Bernal Heights. We were pleasantly surprised by the food -- had a variety of tapas; skipped the entrees, no wine. Best tapas were the day boat scallops, stuffed avocado, and duck quesadilla. We thought the food was much better than one of their sister restaurants, Mochica.
The only surprise of the night was when we were charged $4 for more chips. The restaurant provides a small plate of chips & salsa (for free) upon arrival, so we thought another serving would be free as well. Btw, the chips aren't worth the $4.
I love Piqueos food! The best Peruvian in SF!
The service was great too.
Great spot for creative Peruvian cuisine. Friendly staff.
The staff were so kind and patient. Also, the food is fantastic. Will be back!
Tasty and innovative dinner at this neighborhood gem that is worth a drive from further afield - highly recommend! The ceviche was delicious.
I've loved this place since I "accidentally" discovered it a few years ago. I do wish they'd bring back the pulled pork sandwich. It was yummy!
Friendly and accommodating staff. The food ups the ante for Peruvian restaurants in the entire Bay area!
Service was quick despite being a large party. My picky son loved the macaroni and cheese with bacon and the baby octopus tapas plate. The lamb and the chicken stew were also favorites at the table; everything we ordered was devoured. Overall, the food was excellent.
Great place to be it’s happy environment I would recommend it to my friends and family
A table for 6 was ready when we arrived and were welcomed by the staff. The food was excellent and we all shared several items, repeating a couple favorites that disappeared too quickly. It was a very pleasant evening with our teens and a set of grandparents.
Absolutely loved being seated in the window behind the host stand, felt almost like a private dining room!
This was a last minute plan for my wife and me, and it was terrific. The food is very good. We had one of their ceviche's and two other dishes. All were excellent. Plenty of non-meat options too. Highly recommend.
Very enjoyable dinner at Piqueos! This was our second time here; we tried a variety of tapas..both seafood and meat dishes. The preparations were varied with bold, authentic flavors. Every dish tasted different. We lingered and talked and the service was attentive throughout.
I. Love. This. Place. Piqueos you never fail me. Been here 10 times now I believe. Last night we ordered 3 of the Quinoa-encrusted prawns dishes. It's THAT good and the Cebiche omg.
I had walked by Piqueos numerous times for several years, and never gave it a shot, but I'm so glad I finally did. The food was absolutely delicious - awesome snapper ceviche and short ribs that were out of this world - my friend loved the shrimp dish. The staff was very nice and attentive with some good suggestions and the place itself is not too big but not too small, with a lovely atmosphere. I will return!
I love this place ... the Peruvian fare is inventive and the food is delicious, the staff is super efficient and friendly, and the DID I SAY THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS?!!
Really loved the food - however the service was mediocre. I called ahead of time to request a table outside next to heaters. When we arrived, they failed to mention on the phone that the heaters outside have been broken so they sat us in this crammed corner of the main room. We then asked to move the outdoor instead regardless of the heaters being broken and they seem annoyed that we asked to change tables.
I would definitely come back for the food but with the expectation that the service might not be exceptional
