Pino's Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
We usually dine at down town Campbell, and decided to give Pino's a try. I can't tell how disappointed we are. My mother ordered their SeaBass special and I ordered the Prime Rib.
The Rib was overcooked and chewy no flavor at all. The SeaBass was basically 2 tiny pieces of the fish buried in a tasteless mash potato. The only OK dish was the gilled octopus appetizer.
Our server was nice, but she was assigned to too many table and she was running around like a headless chicken.
Food and service was great. My husband had the tortellini special stuffed with porcini mushrooms and dusted with truffle shavings/oil. Earthy and flavorful, with a rich white sauce. My daughter had the risotto frutti di mare served paella style. Cooked just right with a hint of citrus. My other daughter had the gnocchi formaggi. The gnocchi did not have that "pillowy" texture and the sauce was heavier than it should be. I had the carpaccio, simple as expected. For appetizer we had the rollini mellanzane, good balance of pesto and red sauce. For the finale, we shared a cannoli and chocolate tartufo (sourced from a 3rd party). The latter was the best. Service was awesome, Rafael was engaging and informative. Overall, the experience was fantastic for a Friday family night out.
Food was OK. I had the homemade gnocchi which was overly soft. The sauce was pretty good though. Service wasn’t the greatest either especially for a smaller restaurant. The upside being that you are able to have a conversation without too much noise unlike other restaurants in the area.
Nice Sunday meal. Our waitress was kind and thoughtful. Food was pretty good but seeing how compared to other places in downtown Campbell they are not as busy, they will need to be better. Start by not putting so much oil in the pasta! Great flavor but 3/4 down the bowl everyrhing was swimming in the oil. Not a good way to finish what could have been a delicious meal.
Pino's is one of my and my husband's favorite places to dine. It is definitely a neighborhood gem! They have many classic favorites, but also offer dishes that can be hard to find in other eating establishments. The chef is creative, accommodating, and the cuisine is excellent. The food is a perfect match to the wonderful hospitality and outstanding service.
Excellent server, Took the time too explain all the dishes, ingredients, etc. along with helping the choice based on our answers. The food was fantastic, corkage fee nominal. I will be back and have recomended to friends.
We went to celebrate our anniversary and the staff couldn't have been more attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, service prompt and a perfect evening for a celebration. They brought us a celebratory piece of their homemade tiramisu which was moist and tasty along with limoncello. It was a perfect evening thanks to the staff. We will definitely return.
I thought the ambiance was very good. It had an old New York 50's kind of look. The kind of place maybe the Mafia might have dinner.
On our occasion, the biggest thing that bothered me was the waiter. He presented himself very well, but was very forgetful too.
My Ravioli's were a bit under cooked, and the Lentil soup lacked the sausage the menu described.
The host told me initially that if we came later than our resverstion time we might not be able to be seated, but then 5 minutes later was able to move our reservation 15 mins after the original reservation, so found that confusing.
Our waiting was alright, but either he was having a bad day, felt over worked, or was frustrated because he was very short with us and even asked my friend if she had a problem with the service which I found a little offending and overly aggressive. We all get rushed to get done with our meal and pushed out the door. The food was good, but pricey for the portion sizes and location. We arent in San Francisco why are the entrees $30-50? I wouldn't have returned here but my friends want an Italian restaurant in Campbell. I might suggest a different location next time.
I have eaten at Pino's many times but the service this week was just not up to usual. Food was okay for me but I would not order same dish again. Pasta with Shrimp. Service was " off ". Poor guy was trying to take care of all or most tables by himself. Hope this was just a bad day and not something of things to come! Desserts were comped which was very nice of owners or staff. Hoping for the best for this restaurant. Will not be my last time there as I really do like so many of their choices and usually very good service. Just not enough help that day.
