Pino's Contemporary Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar
Pino's is a small neighborhood eatery tucked away in Pittsburgh's popular East End neighborhood of Point Breeze. We have 19 tables and 10 seats at the comfortable bar where you will often find regulars from the neighborhood and new guests enjoying dinner and drinks. With a warm decor of Italian mosaic tabletops, rich woods and colors, Pino's is a welcoming spot where Executive Chef & Owner Joseph "Pino" Mico proves there's more to Italian cuisine than just red sauce. Here you will find a merging of creative interpretations of the Italian classics as well as Mediterranean cuisine that is thoughtful and complex. Please be sure to view our most curent menu offering on our website at : www.chefpino.com
Our first time at Pino's. The food was excellent and the staff was very accommodating. We had questions about the wine selection and one of the owners took time to explain each selection. We traveled through tunnels and over bridges to dine at Pino's. We will definitely venture there again.
Truly a neighborhood gem. The dining experience one can look forward to at their visit to Pino's transcends the excellent meal they will be served. There's a very familiar and friendly atmosphere where the staff and the owners truly go above and beyond to ensure you feel welcome and that all is the best it can be for you. The only thing that both puzzles me, and that I'm secretly grateful for, is that more people haven't realized just how over the top good this place is. The line should be out the door and down the street with people hoping a table will soon clear. Thanks again to Joe and Jen for their hard work on all of your patron's behalf.
Fantastic experience. Amazing food, great service. The portions were very generous, and the price was great. We stopped in randomly for a bite to eat and fell in love with the place. This is an absolute find. Do yourself a favor and go here. You won't regret it.
Great neighborhood gathering place. Joe is an excellent chef!
Always a delicious meal. Great service
Excellent food, friendly service!
We recently returned to pinos after a long hiatus and found that it had completely changed for the better. The food was much better, the prices were reasonable, and the service had impoved leaps and bounds. A real turnaround. We loved it and are excited to return. In contrast to Point Brugge, its competitor, they take reservations,a valuable adjunct. We have found a new restaurant for our list of go to places.
Place to go for authentic italian food. Must try to home made pasta. I had squid ink risotta with scallops.
Old salad and found a piece of stainless steel wool pad in our pasta
Fantastic waitress (Angelia). Great bartender (Mary). Food average, at best. Great decour. Average.
Chef Joe is an outstanding chef. His featured menu for the week is always new and exciting and delicious!
Our first time here. Superb food and wonderful atmosphere.
Awesome food, great service !
We've probably eaten at Pino's 20 times and have always had excellent food and service. There's a reason we keep going back!
Lovely place with good food. Service was good and the food excellent. The tables are close, so a little challenging to have a private conversation. A little pricey for pasta but overall a very positive experience
Always a great dinner at Pino’s!
Little disappointed. This was the third time dining at Pino’s in recent months. It was Valentine’s Day, so perhaps part of the issues, 6 different things we tried to order were not available (SOLD OUT) and we had a 7PM reservation. The special Valentine’s menu posted on the website was not the special menu that was offered at the restaurant. Was told a couple of staff members left at 2PM that day so they just didn’t have the staff to make everything.. hmmm... bottles of wine the same thing... out of stock.. Will try again on a week night and hope for a better outcome.
It was a fantastic meal as always! This is a top choice for special occasions. We hope to add it to the usual restaurants for everyday meals as well. The staff is friendly and accurate. Their tap lines froze (the weather wasn't cooperating), but they had lots of other drink options to enjoy.
Pinos did a great job of treating us to a nice valentines day dinner. My wife and I were not rushed, wine recommendations were appreciated, and all of the food was prepared and presented well, in addition to being delicious. The handmade pasta is a favorite! It was nice to have a less busy, lower volume spot for a dinner like this. They made us feel comfortable and welcome. Will definitely be back!
Food was amazing. I got the Sole fish with risotto and asparagus. It was probably the best food I’ve ever had. Good stuff.
Very good gem of a restaurant in a primarily residential neighborhood. Small tastefully decorated dining room not overly crowded with tables, but table seating next to bar is fairly close. Nice artwork adorns the walls. Front of house host appeared to be young teenage son of either owner or someone connected to the restaurant was being admonished by bartender while we were waiting to be seated for mistakenly not seating party of two with reservations. Made him and us uncomfortable. No need to do that in front of customers. Perhaps properly train your relative/staff on a less busy night other than Saturday. Menu offerings, food quality, taste and presentation all excellent, enjoyed by all. Particularly recommend house made pasta dishes such as the bolognese. Waitress service excellent, but bartender service after being seated very slow. Likely due to one bartender for full bar of patrons and all tables seated. Need to have a second wait staff capable to assist at peak times.
Cute little place with warm service and great food, wine list was interesting perhaps a little pricy for the offerings of wine
Definitely headed back
Food was amazing as usual. Our waitress was lacking in experience and sence of urgency.
The four of us came for the restaurant week menu and ordered all four selections. Amazing - all four starters and dishes and deserts were fantastic.
Pino's restaurant week menu was great. They had a variety of choices and flavor profiles and everything from the salad dressing to the handmade gnocchi to the chocolate mousse was sublime. The restaurant wasn't too crowded and the staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely going back.
We frequent pino’s Often nd have never been disappointed. In fact we continue to be surprised. We are treated like family.
I went for Winter 2019 Pittsburgh Restaurant Week. This was a fantastic find. It’s in a quiet neighbourhood and the food, drink options, service, and ambience were fantastic. Despite the full house, our friendly server was spot on with timing and very welcoming. The only factor that detracted from the ambience was the noise level, but that was mostly due to the volume of patrons’ conversation.
Family get together. Restaurant week.
Food and service outstanding. Got very loud though.
Our first time at this restaurant, taking advantage of the restaurant week menu with friends. The meal was great and service was excellent. Very noisy and no where for those waiting for a table to comfortably wait.
We were having trouble picking a place for date night and went with this on a whim. It was local and seemed nice enough. We thought we'd have some nice basic Italian food. This was not the case. Chef Joseph's menu was inspired and each element we had was beyond expectation. The lemon chicken dish was easily in the top 5 chicken dishes I have ever had. I also enjoyed tasting my better half's squid ink pasta with scallops. Honestly, while it was a little pricier than we usually go for, the food clearly tasted worth the value.
But the real star of the night was Kate. She was everything I'd hope for in a waitress. There every time I needed her without hovering or being obtrusive. Very professional while still having a human touch. My date and I had all the intimacy we needed while still being completely taken care of. She even made some lovely suggestions that paid off. I think we would have had a great night here regardless, but Kate made our night perfect.
I look forward to taking the family here so they can pay for our next meal, haha. See you soon.
I have been coming to Pittsburgh to visit family for many years, and even owned a home in Point Breeze, so I can’t believe this was my first visit. Pino’s is the neighborhood restaurant every neighborhood should have. Service, food, setting and value are all there. We Will be back
Everything was great, as always. The steak specials, in particular, have been really outstanding recently, and I thought the poached pear salad was especially great with it.
My family knows Italian food. My dad is from the Sicilian side of Buffalo and knows quality. The hand rolled pasta was amazing. My father's direct quote was "the best pasta dish I have had in my life."
Great food and service. I would highly recommend Pino's to anyone looking for good Italian dishes. We really enjoyed the lobster and shrimp pasta. We will return to try some additional dishes.
Delicious as always!
Our server Alexa was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and about the menu in general. She was so gracious when we asked if we could please order off the regular menu..even though it was New Years Eve. Everyone in our party loved their meal. It was served hot and timely .
Wonderful experience and beautifully prepared food. A very pleasurable experience.
Awesome food Chef Joe is an incredible chef!
Pino’s is one of our favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh, and it has some of the best Italian food in town. The service is always excellent, and the atmosphere is lovely. I typically order the pasta bolognese, but I doubt you could go wrong ordering anything on the menu, especially the pasta dishes. Would definitely recommend!!
