We visited Pine Tavern on recommendation and we were pleased for the most part. The menu had many varied choices to please most palates. Portions were generous. The rolls with honey butter were delicious. I enjoyed the grapefruitade, light and refreshing. The beef stroganoff was creamy and tender. The steak salad had fresh greens, tomatoes, onions, and avocado slices with tender tasty steak. We were too full for dessert (though they looked amazing) but we did enjoy a cup of coffee.
We were in a little before happy hour on Sunday, and we had plenty of choices from the luncheon menu. Our server was excellent. She was nice and informative, and was by our side almost before we realized we needed her. The food was excellent! Served hot, and perfect. Our table was perfect by the windows looking out over the river. It was a perfect time for us.
My husband had the fish and chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, very moist and not greasy. My ribs were excellent! We love that you can have a conversation and hear each other. Lots of variety in the menu. Very nice evening!
We had never been to this restaurant previously, but it was recommended by many. After we sat down, besides being given water and menus, we had NO service for a long long time, which was not okay. However , our waiter apologized and the rest of the evening went well. Excellent food all around - way better than average . Very fun setting ! We will be back !
Great food...beautiful view!
Sad. Mahi mahi special was ok. Meatloaf was literally burned black. No way the cook could not have known. Scones not what they use to be. Sad. Many fond memories, not sure I'd go back except for happy hour or to eat a salad outside.
I wish the requests mentioned when making a reservation through Open Table were honored. Otherwise, it was a wonderful evening with great service and delicious food.
The Pine Tavern is a must for anyone visiting Bend. The setting is incomparable; the food is excellent and the service is great! Ask for an outside seat if they're available.
Excellent food! We enjoyed the quiet and lovely ambience. The manager was very personal and attentive. We went for a special birthday and they had printed special menus with the birthday person’s name & the particular birthday. It was a very special surprise! Enjoyed our evening and would highly recommend!
Our group was in town for a conference and we wanted a nice place for dinner where we could enjoy our OWN bottle of wine, a Malbec from from Mendoza, Argentina. At some restaurants, this is frowned upon. But not this one! Drinks, dinner and wine, and dessert was amazing! Staff was impeccable! Oh, and the pine tree was super cool too!
If you want more of a view, ask for a table and not a booth. Food was just okay, you pay for the location and ambiance.
Wonderful place for dinner with an amazing staff and an even better view of the river. Try the cheesecake. It’s made by the owner’s daughter or daughter-in-law and it is to die for. She made the New York cheesecake and a pumpkin cheesecake in the fall. Both are delicious and would recommend saving room for desert.
It was was husbands birthday and he couldn’t wait to go to the Pine Tavern. We where sat promptly and the hostess was very pleasant. Unfortunately, we sat next to a group having a business meeting and live presentations... kind of annoying. But the food was good. I was disappointed that there wasn’t any free dessert or something special for the birthday boy. They did print up a special menu with is name on it. Nice touch!! We will go again, but not for any special occasions.
Delightful ambience and service with tasty reasonable food as always
I normally eat seafood, but they did not get delivery,
Chefs special of venison sausage was interesting.
A special effort was made to accommodate three Birthdays. We appreciated the service and enjoyed the meal.
The "Happy Birthday Bob!" on my husband's menu was a very nice touched. He was really appreciative for the effort.
My meal was absolutely appalling. First, I asked for mashed potatoes with my Stroganoff instead of noodles. Wow, you would of thought I had asked for the moon. The Beef Stroganoff was horrendous. No taste, sauce totally white and very runny. The meat was disgusting, and the dish looked like someone had thrown up into a bowl. The cost of my meal was ridiculous.
My husband and I will never come here again. Not to mention, parking was a waste of time. Had to walk a long way to get to the restaurant because of no parking.
Meal was not worth the walk.
Great location, good food, good service. Great business lunch spot.
A notable, classic spot in Central Oregon. Beautiful setting, hearty meals. Energetic spot in downtown Bend.
Had meatloaf this time. I remembered there being a stuffed salmon which I couldn't resist but it wasn't on the menu. Great food and service always.
10/10 Enjoyed our meal while looking at Mirror Pond. My chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans were perfectly prepared. Add to that: Pine Tavern’s signature scones: yum!
We went to Pine Tavern for a birthday celebration for an older man and it felt really special. They printed Happy Birthday at the top of the menu., which gave us both a real kick The food selections seemed a little limited, but the food was amazing. I had the catch of the day and loved it.
Pine Tavern is an institution in Bend, Oregon. Wonderful!
Very mediocre food. High priced. Never will go back
Good food, excellent waiter - orders were timely served. Main dining room not too loud and the evening turned out to be a great night for family.
Great place to eat The Wine List was exceptional. The staff was the best . We sat and talked to our friends until losing without any rush.
This was our first time to this restaurant. Recommended to us by our son and daughter- in -law. It's in a quiet area, which also leaves you with a great view of the Deschutes river. The waiter we had was very pleasant. He was very attentive to our needs or requests. So, he's quite a bonus for our evening and the restaurant. But, the food was amazing. Great choice of foods which were perfectly prepared. Can't say enough regarding the food...all of it. Including the large choice to choose from of delicious tasty desserts.
Just plan a visit, you won't be disappointed. Since that was our first visit, it is by far our last.
Traditional American is usually fine for me, but the food should taste good. Not so at the Pine Tavern any more. Chicken was rubbery, bland mashed potatoes, steak in the steak salad was stringy and the greens were buried in dressing, blech. And the waiter was nice, but absolutely uninterested in our tepid response to his perfunctory “how is the food”.
Always a delight. Wonderful food, exceptional staff. The river view is beautiful.
Probably the busiest bar in Bend with creative drinks and great service. The Dining Room is away from the bar so that the ambiance is fairly quiet. I had Beef Carpaccio as good as I have ever had. A fun Bar with a very good restaurant
My nightly special Mahi dish was very good. My husband's Cobb Salad was just so-so. The Mud Pie was fantastic as usual. Nice atmosphere! Our server was great.
The French onion soup was excellent but didn't care for the green salad and neither did my friend. The greens were way too bitter for my taste. Not sure the lemon vinegar was the right dressing for these greens.
Great service and warm scones! Yum! Will definitely be back.
Very enjoyable evening with excellent food and nice atmosphere. Large pine tree in the center of the restaurant which is on the banks of the Dechutes River. When the weather allows outdoor dining (too cold when we were there) there is seating overlooking the river. We were fortunate enough to have a window table that gave us almost the same view. Menu has plenty of variety and my wife and I were both quite impressed with our choices.
Definitely recommend. Next time we’re in Bend, we’ll go back.
The food was necessarily bad, but it wasn’t amazing. I would say it was way overpriced for what we got.
This was a nice restaurant for a meal before going to a concert. The view was beautiful, the food and drinks were very good and it was quiet enough for the five of us to easily converse. We told the waiter we were going to the concert and he made sure to get us out of there on time.
After a day of skiing, met up with friends for a delicious meal. Food and staff were excellent.
big fan - great food, service, atmosphere - will be back next time i'm in bend
Great food and service.
