Pine Tavern Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We had not been here in quite some time so we were very excited to have my husband's birthday dinner here. My 11 year old was even more excited as he has never been. Within ten minutes of being seated, our server dumped a glass of ice water in my son's lap with barely an apology. Our waiter then came over to get our drink order and told us they were out of prime rib. Disappointing, and lack of planning, but that happens sometimes. My son wanted to add a baked potato to his order... he'd been talking about it all day. Our waiter took the order. About 10-15 minutes later were told they are OUT of baked potatoes??!! How does that happen on a Saturday night? Have a staff member drive to the GROCERY STORE if need be. The waiter didn't seem too impacted, made a weak apology to our son and asked us for replacements, which we did not care for. Our meals were all decent, but nothing outstanding. You pay for extra scones now. Really? Service was luke warm and slow, with a very empty restaurant for a Saturday night. We then had to ask for the potatoes we didn't get to be removed from our bill. With all the amazing food competition in downtown Bend, this icon needs to step it up. We understand there are bad days, but the handling of what went bad was so poor, we'll go elsewhere.
I travel to Bend sometimes twice per month and this was my fourth and worst meal I have had at your restaurant.
The other three times were perfect, however this visit was warm steak - no where close to hot/ sizzling at the time it was served, by the time I was finished my meal the steak was cold.
The baked potatoe was the same condition only add in small as well, about the size of 1 1/2 of your biscuits
Very surprised and disappointed for a $33 cold steak
We all have bad days, but not at this price.
I love the feel of pine tavern, very cozy yet classy and very Bend. I have tried several menus items and never had a bad meal. The salmon was amazing and the dessert was to die for! Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.
Out most recent dinner we found out that the owner is a Veteran and serves free meals to vets on Veterans Day. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
We 2 veterans and a friend dined at Pine Tavern on Veteran's Day. Every year, this very generous local restaurant honors veterans with a free meal on 11/11. Even though they offer a limited menu of free items, it is a good variety and the food is always outstanding. Outside of this occasion, we often come here for happy hour and occasionally for a special occasion dinner. It is always delicious, service can be slow but is always friendly, and it's always busy. Make a reservation if you plan to eat a meal here.
When we lived in Bend, OR the Pine Tavern was our favorite westside restaurant. Friendly upbeat staff and great views of Mirror Pond. After dinner a nice stroll through Drake Park was always invigorating. Our most recent visit was disappointing in the available menu choices and our waiter was less attentive than we had ever experienced before. He forgot our drinks, he forgot to have the chicken blackened. Perhaps he wasn't feeling well but we would still recommend the Pine Tavern for its history, ambience, and the Mirror Pond views.
We had a great time at Pine Tavern. Carly was our waitress and she was excellent. There were 6 of us and it was a family get-together, so we weren't pressed for time. We had a great chance to sit and visit and didn't feel that we were hurried along in any way. Carly helped us take pictures. After having desert as well, we had been there for almost 2 hours. Thanks for a fabulous time!
Ever since the acquisition, the prices are higher, and the quality isn't as good. One scone per person is really shaving costs to the absurd, and the stroganoff totally misses the mark these days. That said, it is still a very nice setting, and the service was good.
I have been going to Pine Tavern for 28 years. When making the reservation on Open Table, I left explicit instructions that I be the only one to receive the tab, NO exceptions. I also called the restaurant prior to coming in at our designated time to confirm, once again, that the tab would be brought to me. When the tab was brought to the table, it was given to our guest who apparently had already paid. The tab was well over a $100. It was humiliating to say the least. Through conversation with the reservation desk, I confirmed that the waiter had “in fact” been apprised of the request. The circumstances definitely put a damper on what had been a nice evening. I most likely will not return. When you pay a significant amount of money for a meal, you expect professionalism.
We've always loved taking friends there. The last few times we have not been satisfied by the quality of the food. Two of us had prime rib and they were very tough, another ordered a blackened ribeye and it didn't come out blackened. It's sad to see this Bend icon go down hill.
The clam chowder was fabulous. The non-natives were totally impressed. The waiter rushed an order for small children who were along. Stuffed salmon was the special and it was special. My wife said the chicken Marsala was the best she ever had, which makes me resentful, but what can you do?
Arrived at restaurant and was promptly seated. Staff was very friendly but service was very slow. Had to flag down server multiple times to get service.
Prices were fairly steep for faire. Example $24 for mac and cheese.
We still had a great time and will most likely come back.
Seated on time per our reservation, then waited 25 minutes before a waiter asked if we'd like to order a drink.
Food was pedestrian at best: tasteless crab cakes, overcooked pork chops, cardboard mashed potatoes and cold broccoli.
Service was awful, and prices were outrageous for the quality of the fare.
The place is a tourist trap. Stay away!
We were shopping in the area and chose the Pine Tavern Restaurant for lunch. We were so impressed with the quality of food and the service that we arranged via Open Table to have our anniversary dinner there the next evening. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious , the service outstanding, and we enjoyed the ambiance of the setting.
My family and I have recently moved into Sun River from Southern California. I was treated to your restaurant by a friend. I brought my daughter for her first time to The Pine Tavern for her first time. Our server Lena was excellent. My daughter ordered half-tuna sandwich and chicken tortilla soup. Unfortunately; the tuna salad tasted like it needed "something more ". But she enjoyed the soup. I loved the pulled pork sandwich!!!
I would have liked the table for two (at the left) overlooking the view; however, was seated on the right where the view is not as good. Very enjoyable/will be back; but how can we request the table on the left overlooking the view?
While the Pine Street Tavern is almost a landmark place to dine. It has a great outdoor patio overlooking the water in the summer, nice interior as well & service staff are very pleasant. Food is good but not great. The only real 'shortcoming' is that it can take an hour from ordering to serving your meal! We visited the Pine St Tavern 3X in the last 2 months and it seems the kitchen has a difficulty keeping up with order.
I used to love the pine tavern but on this day, my birthday it was horrible. The special of the day linguine was like a throw together leftovers and the flies were horrible making it hard to eat. Then the waiter got to busy and we waited a long time for our check and box for leftovers. While waiting a fly landed in our food then died on the side of the plate, so no leftovers for us.
The only good part was the scones and honey butter that you only get 1 a piece now and get charged for any extra. Not a pleasant experience.
It was okay, but just okay. Food adequate but nothing that made us say, wow. Perhaps expecting too much. With all the competition in downtown Bend, I guess we were expecting a better attempt. Disappointed they were not able to serve crab cakes, my favorite at the PT and they were out of one other dish. Perhaps with all the fires in Central Oregon delivery problems?
We will try again but not for awhile.
Prime Rib was ordered medium rare. It was delivered (literally) raw. Waiter returned it to the kitchen. The other two members of our party waited until the waiter brought a replacement...and waited. The waiter completely forgot the prime rib until we grabbed him. At our prompting, he ran back to the kitchen and brought out the second plate.
Instead of cutting a new med rare piece, it looked like the raw piece was thrown into boiling water or nuked. It wasn't editable. She ended up eating rolls, which the waiter charged 75 cents for each one.
We live in Bend and have enjoyed the Pine Tavern numerous times. Sorry to say this wasn't one of our better experiences.
Pine Tavern was as good as I remembered. The staff was friendly and available and made great suggestions regarding drinks and food. The ambiance is perfect. We asked for a window table and they accommodated us. The food was delicious. Our crab and shrimp dip was full of crab and shrimp. Our group had steak, salmon and stuffed salmon and everyone loved their meal. We capped off the evening with their decadent mud pie. It was scrumptious.
We have visited the Pine Tavern restaurant several times and thoroughly enjoy it. This time, I had the pulled pork sandwich and commented about how good it was to our waitress. She had the general manager come over because it was his recipe.
We discussed his recipe, the history of the restaurant and our love of good food. What a wonderful experience! A true find in Bend Oregon!
Had the rib eye steak with broccoli. Pretty simple meal with a easy seasoning of the steak. The restaurant was accommodating in that the do offer elegant seasonings/toppings, I simply prefer mine to have a more natural flavor.
The back room with the pine trees had a great view of outdoor activities to keep one entertained as a solo dinner. This restaurant also has a wonderful outdoor deck that would be great to dine on once the fires subside. And, let's pray that is soon!
Our first dinner in Bend was at the Pine Tavern thanks to an employee at our hotel. We were glad we made a reservation because it was crowded! My husband had the meatloaf and I had the chicken Marsala. Both were delicious! How do they make their sauces?? So full of flavor. I can highly recommend the cheese cake for dessert. It was right there with the best! Our only disappointment was our server. He didn't seem to be happy about working. Not very attentive or friendly. But it didn't spoil our evening
