Pine Tavern Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We’ve lived in Bend for several years and have been to the Oine Tavern several times for happy hour and bar food. It’s always been good. However, we recently had a formal dinner here and it was excellent. Great atmosphere in the dining room and exceptional service. And, the food was some of the best we have had in Bend. Perfectly cook steak (one of us had a rib-eye), as well as the fish.
This was a birthday celebration and Pine Tavern even has menus preprinted with “Happy Birthday” on them. It was a lovely surprise.
Our server was top-notch. The restaurant was busy but she made us feel like we were her only customers. The food was prompt and delicious.
Pine Tavern mud pie was the perfect ending to our celebration.
We had reservations for a special night out. This was not our first visit or meal here. However, this night was a total fiasco. The food was average, the restaurant ran out of several items( even the appetizers) and our servor was drunk or stoned or both. Will not eat here again for quite some time..
The restaurant was in the weeds on Christmas Eve. We've been here several times and not sure we will go back. They probably needed to limit their guests so that they had enough food, etc. The menu was limited to 4 items which was OK, except they ran out of rice and substituted partly cooked red potatoes without asking. The veggies were uninspired and under cooked squash. The waiter was not in the mood to serve. All in all it was memorable, but a pretty SAD memory.
Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, My guest ordered prime rib for $40.00. It was a poor cut with huge amounts of fat. I ordered the turkey dinner. The presentation was an off color yellow bland looking plate. The turkey was ok and the side dish of brussel sprouts adequate but the overall look of the dish was repulsive. For these prices one might expect something excellent. In both cases the meal was quite substandard.
We had to wait 10 minutes for our reservations time despite the restaurant not being busy and having open tables. Service was slow. There was a large bug in our salad. The food poorly cooked and over seasoned. We will not be returning.
This Bend icon has been one of my favorite dinner spots for over 40 years. Even though we no longer live there, any time I'm in town I make a point of eating here. They're famous for their scones, but the food is great, the menu diverse, and the service excellent. A great wine menu, and deserts too - if you have room! They always surprise with dinner specials and their soups are wonderful. You won't be disappointed.
We've lived in Bend for 4 years but never made it to the back room of Pine Tavern (have been there for happy hour several times!). Finally we had a guest in town and decided to try it out. It was really cute, cozy - wood paneled walls and excellent service. A fireplace would have added to it, but it was warm enough. I really liked the "private dining" little areas midway to the back room. Perfect for catching up with friends you haven't seen in awhile.
My only complaint was I ordered the Oregon Rockfish, and it was not very fresh. It was coated in a lot of spices and had a delicious beurre blanc sauce on it, but it couldn't hide the taste. Everything else was decent - my father in law had the chicken marsala and my husband had the ribs. While the food wasn't exceptional, the service definitely was! Our waiter was just attentive enough, very professional, and we enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. Overall, a good experience and we would go back, but maybe not with foodie friends.
The Thansksgiving dinner menu had some nice options...turkey dinner, prime rib, salmon or prawn linguini. We had the turkey and prime rib. Both were good, but not outstanding. I think we had high expectations because of a former diningroom experience. Seemed a little spendy too. We'll definitely be back for happy hour, but will most likely skip the diningroom in the future.
I was disappointed. It was Thanksgiving dinner. The menu was small and there were no vegetarian options at all. They removed prawns from a pasta dish to accommodate me. They charged for the meal as if it was the full dinner (including prawns). I paid about $27 for noodles with a few piece of tomato and olive oil.
Thanksgiving Day and we had the Prime Rib special @ $36.95. It may have been the worst prime rib we have ever had. It was tough and awful. We have read bad reviews on The Pine Tavern and have been there in the past and wanted to try it again. Today was our last visit ever.👎
We had not been here in quite some time so we were very excited to have my husband's birthday dinner here. My 11 year old was even more excited as he has never been. Within ten minutes of being seated, our server dumped a glass of ice water in my son's lap with barely an apology. Our waiter then came over to get our drink order and told us they were out of prime rib. Disappointing, and lack of planning, but that happens sometimes. My son wanted to add a baked potato to his order... he'd been talking about it all day. Our waiter took the order. About 10-15 minutes later were told they are OUT of baked potatoes??!! How does that happen on a Saturday night? Have a staff member drive to the GROCERY STORE if need be. The waiter didn't seem too impacted, made a weak apology to our son and asked us for replacements, which we did not care for. Our meals were all decent, but nothing outstanding. You pay for extra scones now. Really? Service was luke warm and slow, with a very empty restaurant for a Saturday night. We then had to ask for the potatoes we didn't get to be removed from our bill. With all the amazing food competition in downtown Bend, this icon needs to step it up. We understand there are bad days, but the handling of what went bad was so poor, we'll go elsewhere.
I travel to Bend sometimes twice per month and this was my fourth and worst meal I have had at your restaurant.
The other three times were perfect, however this visit was warm steak - no where close to hot/ sizzling at the time it was served, by the time I was finished my meal the steak was cold.
The baked potatoe was the same condition only add in small as well, about the size of 1 1/2 of your biscuits
Very surprised and disappointed for a $33 cold steak
We all have bad days, but not at this price.
I love the feel of pine tavern, very cozy yet classy and very Bend. I have tried several menus items and never had a bad meal. The salmon was amazing and the dessert was to die for! Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.
Out most recent dinner we found out that the owner is a Veteran and serves free meals to vets on Veterans Day. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
We 2 veterans and a friend dined at Pine Tavern on Veteran's Day. Every year, this very generous local restaurant honors veterans with a free meal on 11/11. Even though they offer a limited menu of free items, it is a good variety and the food is always outstanding. Outside of this occasion, we often come here for happy hour and occasionally for a special occasion dinner. It is always delicious, service can be slow but is always friendly, and it's always busy. Make a reservation if you plan to eat a meal here.
