We have been here 3 times before, once earlier this season. We realize that it was the last night for this season's "Twilight Dinners", and that it was a holiday weekend, but normally we give the food 4-5 stars and the service 5 stars. The service was definitely off tonight; our server seemed inexperienced, and didn't perform some of the touches we have experienced before: e.g., one of our 2 guests ordered wine with her meal, and the server took the order but had to be reminded later, and our guest was half-way through her meal before the wine arrived. Also, my husband and I decided to split a house salad, and normally our servers have gone ahead and split the order for us into 2 salad dishes, whereas this one merely gave us a 2nd dish. I had ordered "beef tenders" to be medium to medium-well, and it came out very well done. My husband said his cut of prime rib was also overdone, and not as tasty as he has experienced in the past. I also thought it was odd that our bread was served with 2 small serving dishes containing olive oil and balsamic, but the serving dishes were definitely not designed for pouring, and were a bit messy to use. Our guest didn't complain about the meal, but neither did they rave. Given that we were entertaining out-of-town guests who had not been here before, I was disappointed that the food didn't appear up to its normal standards, and that the service was not up to its normal level. Certainly we will be back, because you can't beat the view, but I hope the consistency of the food quality and service will be better next time.
