Pina's Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant if very small. You have to make reservations to sit inside. There are about 10 tables inside. If you don't make a reservation you will have to sit on the patio. It isn't bad out there but a heater may not be enough in the cold weather. The staff is very friendly and the food is pretty good. It's pricey. But it's a cute little place to try. I will go again, but only special occasions like my recent visit. The restaurant is in a little shopping center. The exterior is a little off-putting, but the food and staff were very good.
Pina's Bistro is very small, seating about 30 inside and outside. We dined with a screaming infant outside, but there was also one inside, so there was no escaping that at 7 at night. Wishing parents would dine at 5 if they must bring their babies along.
We arrived early, had to wait until one of the 3 staff could clean and reset a table for us. The waiting area is outside in front of the shop next door or the 7-11. Parties waiting after us bought wine and started drinking it while hanging out on the sidewalk.
Pina's tries hard. They will alter their menu items to suit your taste or health no problems. The issue is the food isn't that good. Starting with the bread they put on the table - why is no one in OC baking really good crusty Italian bread and selling it to all the restaurants like Pina's? The bread is soft and doughy, no one in Italy would eat it.
Dinner entrees come with a salad, a very boring salad. My eggplant parm looked great, but the plate was soon swimming in water - did they forget to drain my pasta? Everyone at our table had the same issue - water doesn't help taste at all.
If you really want to try Pina's make a reservation, and good luck.
I have always enjoyed the food here, despite the run down atmosphere. My chicken piccata, which I have ordered a couple times before, was not good. Very bready and not cooked well at all. I was really disappointed. We also felt ignored by the waitress. Won't be rushing back. I don't know why she doesn't move location and upgrade the interior.
As always Pina's Bistro doesn't disappoint with the food, service and welcoming hello from Pina the owner. Every time we go, the food is always delicious and a reason to rush back soon. Peggy and Felicia as our servers were beyond attentive and just delights to know. The Sausage and Peppers, Linguini with clams and salmon were beyond great! A must!
What is the reason why Pina's Bistro only gets five stars? Answer: Because they don't offer six or anything higher. We were visiting our daughter from out of town. She is attending Chapman Univ. but lives in Tustin. We looked up restaurants in the area and discovered Pina's Bistro. It was TERRIFIC. There is a reason why they have been in business in the same location for the past 23 years. The food is really as authentic as you can get it unless you travel to Italy. I've been to Italy and this restaurant beats most of those restaurants as well. If you have a salad you will be hooked on their dressing. We purchased two bottles. It is to die for! It should be mass produced and sold across the country! You won't be sorry by going to this restaurant, believe me. The family who owns the restaurant is from a town called Benevento, not far from Naples, Italy. Buon Appetito!
As always the owner and staff welcomed us warmly. The food was delicious. I couldn't decide which of our four main dishes was the best! It's like visiting your Italian grandma's house- only better. Pina graciously fine tuned some of our dishes. And the limoncello cake!!!!
We've been coming here for years, frequently introducing our friends to the great food. We got lucky this time as it was Easter weekend so the restaurant was less than full, but at least not closed.
The food was outstanding as usual. I always get Manicotti with sautéed sausage. Others got Shrimp Arrabbiata, Lasagna, and Cannelloni.
Another wonderful dining out experience.
My girlfriend found this restaurant doing a search of Open Table restaurants in Orange County (CA). It is a small, family owned, neighborhood restaurant.
There were a large number of specials when we ate on Saturday night after church. I had a salmon with angel hair pasta special that was outstanding. My girlfriend had a tortellini special with sausage that also was outstanding. The regular menu had good variety also.
Highly recommended but make reservations if it is a busy time.
We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and as always, the food was amazing and service so personable. And on a side note, Pina's has the absolute best carpaccio that I have ever had, including the ones from my multiple travels to Italy. Pina's Bistro never disappoints me!
