I live in NY metro area, when I come out to SoCal on business trips I make a point of going to Pina's every time- Mom does the cooking- daughter is the waitress etc- along with friendly staff- food is always great- freshly prepared-tastes great-good value and very friendly service- wish i had a place like this back east!
Great family birthday dinner! Fabulous food and terrific service! We'll be back...
I think it is the best Italian food in Orange County. It is small, but staff is friendly and service is good. Highly recommend this place.
This is a neighborhood gem. Almost everything is made to order and homemade. My wife and I had the veal and it was excellent. But, the little neck clams with white wine sauce was a showstopper. Overall, this place is special and run by an Italian grandmother that takes pride in everything that comes out of that kitchen.
Food was average...first waitress was rude. But back waiter was very kind and made sure we were happy.
It was very hard to hear at table...small restaurant...but very clean and well put together.
It is a nice place for casual dining....pork chop was a bit tough and gluten free pasta is spiral not spaghetti or rigatoni...which is easy to buy in bulk....
Sauces were ok....but not what I would call hardy. The homemade sausage and house salad was fantastic!!!
Overall we would go back to experience more of the menu.
Lovely and homey.
We had such a marvelous birthday-dinner party at Pina’s Bistro! Pina, her daughter and colleagues simply could not have been more attentive. Everyone in our party ordered different specialities and each was raving how delicious their meal selection was! Pina herself is a naturally gifted chef who places so much attention on using only the best and freshest ingredients. Her homemade tomato sauce, so important in many dishes, is a culinary marvel, so flavorful and balanced.
Pina’s Bistro is an absolute gem among Southern California’s Italian restaurants and dinner or lunch there is always such a treat!
The food was amazing. All of us were so delighted with our meals. Pina and her family make the dining experience very special.
Authentic Italian by an authentic Italian
Exceptionally delicious Italian food at reasonable prices served with much love in an unprepossessing setting.
Pina's covers all the usual Italian bases, augmented by a changing list of specials. Veal chop special was huge, perfectly cooked and seasoned, served with a side of linguine with a light oil-garlic topping that matched very well. The crab ravioli special came in a creamy, light tomato sauce, that reinforced but didn't overpower the delicate crab.
We quickly gobbled up a bowl of clams in a heady wine-garlic broth; there wasn't much of the sauce left after we finished dipping bread in it. Calamari in a slightly spicy tomato-caper-black olive sauce went equally fast, again dipping our bread into what was left of the tasty sauce. The chef cheerfully responded to our request for a not-on-the-menu antipasto to share, offering a delicious selection of cold cuts, olives, pepperoncini, and cheese. Everything is cooked to order, & the chef is happy to create dishes not on the menu.
The wine list is small, but includes a good selection of bottles from reasonable to expensive. The staff is helpful in selecting wine, as well as in providing details on the food.
We finished with cannoli (home made filling, with a few chocolate chips at each end!) that offered just the right amount of sweetness to finish our meal. Espresso and cappuccino were prepared beautifully by the barista-grandson who helps out on weekends, and by the daughter-waitress-hostess during the week.
This is a family restaurant that welcomes you as if you were a part of the family. If you like Italian food, do not pass up the chance to eat at Pina's table. While the setting is simple, they serve food worthy of "big name" restaurants with a genuine warmth for their guests that you rarely encounter these days. Frankly, I hesitated to write this review for fear that it'll make it impossible to get a table at this tiny gem, but the food is too good to keep secret!
The food was amazing and Pina and her daughter are friendly care about customer comfort.
This is genuine homemade, delicious Italian food. It is a teeny place so make a reservation. Family run with all the expected benefits to the customer.
PInas is a wonderful locals spot with amazing food just be prepared for a slow unrushed dining experience as Pina cooks it when she gets to it, this means it's always fresh never pre made and simply delicious
Pina's was recommended by a co-worker, so we sought it out. How could we have missed this great little restaurant for the past 22 years right in our back yard! It's small, so reservations are a good idea. Pina took our order and told us about her pastas and sauces. She hand makes much of what is on the menu. I had the lobster ravioli and it was excellent. We will be back!
For over 20 years, our dinners and lunches at PINA’S BISTRO have always been the high point of our trips to So. Calif. Pina, her daughters and excellent staff are so dedicated to serving top quality, fresh Italian cuisine as it is made in the countryside around Napoli where Pina was born. When you first walk into this charming little restaurant, the aroma from the kitchen puts a smile on your face.
The magic of PINA’S BISTRO is that she has mastered so many of the reasons for going to an Italian restaurant: a hardy welcome; delicious bread; freshly made pasta; flavorful tomato sauces that are worthy of a detour from Los Angeles’ eateries; housemade Italian sausage; her delicate vinaigrette for salads. The Bistro’s large and varied menu is supplemented by Pina’s blackboard of changing daily entrées, such as lobster stuffed ravioli, Chilean sea bass in her arrabbiata sauce and filet mignon prepared Italian style.
If you’re looking for a restaurant that has mastered Italian-Napolitano cuisine, try PINA’S BISTRO. It’s a real gem!
I love this place. Family owned and operated. Great food. The best salad ever. the mozzarella is a must try it's the real deal, no breaded cheese sticks here. Our favs are the veal chop, the filet and there's a pasta dish with a cream sauce, Pina's homemade sausage and sweet peas - yum!
I've eaten at a lot of Italian restaurants and Pina's hands down beats them all. From the appetizers to the main course and desert everything is real authentic Italian. I've hosted two business lunches and had dinner with my family and everyone loved the food and service. I highly recommend Pina's and know we will be back.
Great family run and neighborhood bistro. Lucky to have it in town.
Pina is an OC treasure ! The food is homemade and delicious
This restaurant if very small. You have to make reservations to sit inside. There are about 10 tables inside. If you don't make a reservation you will have to sit on the patio. It isn't bad out there but a heater may not be enough in the cold weather. The staff is very friendly and the food is pretty good. It's pricey. But it's a cute little place to try. I will go again, but only special occasions like my recent visit. The restaurant is in a little shopping center. The exterior is a little off-putting, but the food and staff were very good.
We eat here often. Love the food, miss the daughter who was so attentive but moved away. Still one of our favs
Pina's Bistro is very small, seating about 30 inside and outside. We dined with a screaming infant outside, but there was also one inside, so there was no escaping that at 7 at night. Wishing parents would dine at 5 if they must bring their babies along.
We arrived early, had to wait until one of the 3 staff could clean and reset a table for us. The waiting area is outside in front of the shop next door or the 7-11. Parties waiting after us bought wine and started drinking it while hanging out on the sidewalk.
Pina's tries hard. They will alter their menu items to suit your taste or health no problems. The issue is the food isn't that good. Starting with the bread they put on the table - why is no one in OC baking really good crusty Italian bread and selling it to all the restaurants like Pina's? The bread is soft and doughy, no one in Italy would eat it.
Dinner entrees come with a salad, a very boring salad. My eggplant parm looked great, but the plate was soon swimming in water - did they forget to drain my pasta? Everyone at our table had the same issue - water doesn't help taste at all.
If you really want to try Pina's make a reservation, and good luck.
I have always enjoyed the food here, despite the run down atmosphere. My chicken piccata, which I have ordered a couple times before, was not good. Very bready and not cooked well at all. I was really disappointed. We also felt ignored by the waitress. Won't be rushing back. I don't know why she doesn't move location and upgrade the interior.
Always delicious with great service. A favorite Italian bistro.
Pina's Bistro is fantastic everytime we go there. It's the closest you'll get to authentic Italian cuisine in a warm homey atmosphere unless your mom is an Italian chef.
As always Pina's Bistro doesn't disappoint with the food, service and welcoming hello from Pina the owner. Every time we go, the food is always delicious and a reason to rush back soon. Peggy and Felicia as our servers were beyond attentive and just delights to know. The Sausage and Peppers, Linguini with clams and salmon were beyond great! A must!
What is the reason why Pina's Bistro only gets five stars? Answer: Because they don't offer six or anything higher. We were visiting our daughter from out of town. She is attending Chapman Univ. but lives in Tustin. We looked up restaurants in the area and discovered Pina's Bistro. It was TERRIFIC. There is a reason why they have been in business in the same location for the past 23 years. The food is really as authentic as you can get it unless you travel to Italy. I've been to Italy and this restaurant beats most of those restaurants as well. If you have a salad you will be hooked on their dressing. We purchased two bottles. It is to die for! It should be mass produced and sold across the country! You won't be sorry by going to this restaurant, believe me. The family who owns the restaurant is from a town called Benevento, not far from Naples, Italy. Buon Appetito!
As always the owner and staff welcomed us warmly. The food was delicious. I couldn't decide which of our four main dishes was the best! It's like visiting your Italian grandma's house- only better. Pina graciously fine tuned some of our dishes. And the limoncello cake!!!!
Best sausage ever!!! We love the food at Pina's Bistro!
Food is consistently well cooked and quality ingredients. Friendly family run atmosphere. The included house salad has a delicious dressing. Always love the veal chop.
Gluten free pasta is available ($4 additional charge)
Very good house salad!
Always a wonderful experience & great food!
Pina will accommodate any reasonable culinary request.
Staff is awesome!!!!
Great Food, convenient and the service from the family is wonderful.
Pina's never disappoints. Quality, authentic food served with a personalized touch at an affordable price all tucked into a cozy, intimate space. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem.
If you haven't eaten at Pina's, you're missing out !!
Pina's is a fantastic little Italian place! Most nights you will find mama in the kitchen cooking with her daughters serving the most wonderful home-cooked style Italian meal. It's so good and comfortable, you'll forget that you are in a restaurant. My husband spent several years living in Italy and he is very picky about the Italian food that he eats... Pina's is definitely our favorite in Orange County/LA area.
Delicious salad. Love the gnocchi in alfredo sauce with sausage. Always good food.
Pina's is a great family run restaurant. The food is always amazing. Each entrée comes with a salad and the dressing is delicious. Anything with the house-made sausage is a good choice.
Pina's never disappoints. Already great food and friendly service.
