Prix Fixe menu was excellent. Wine per glass very expensive- $17/glass
Noise level way too loud- music was good but could be a lot quieter and enable a conversation at the table
We went for the Calgary Summer Feast and it was spectacular. The food was sooooo good! Ambiance was lovely and service was great. I will be back!
We came for the summer feast and we were pleasantly surprised by everything. There was a bit of Asian fusion that we weren’t expecting and it worked very well! Highly recommend the charred cabbage. Cocktails were also very good, but somewhat expensive.
Great relaxing ambience with really attentive staff. Had the shrimp and grits + pancakes which came out quickly too. Really enjoyed the food- simple yet so comforting to the taste buds. Was already planning to come back as we finished. Extra points for the restaurant parking close by. A must visit for brunch.
We tried Pigeonhole for the first time during summer feast and we were so impressed right from the time we walked in. Very friendly and courteous staff, the ambiance is casual and preppy, food was absolutely delicious. They were really busy that night but the quality of service was still very good. We were seated at the bar and Benson (the bartender) served us - he only made the whole experience that much better with casual conversation, constantly checking in on us and to top it off, he also enhanced our food with different wine pairings for the Alberta lamb dish and the desserts - couldn’t hav asked for a better experience and we will definitely be back!
We came to pigeonhole for summer feast, the food was amazing! The service was great, our server was knowledgable and despite being quite busy took great care of us and given my dietary restrictions was able to accommodate some substitutions. As always the wine and cocktail list was a real treat! Every time we come to pigeonhole it is an excellent experience and this was no exception.
Wonderful food and service. Very accommodating for my gluten allergy.
A very pleasant experience. Left completely satisfied.
Great value: SUmmerFeast
Fantastic flavour combinations!:
Salads and mains!
Nice to be able to share and try everything!
Banana in the chocolate mousse was not good!.....we all felt the same.
Would we go back? Absolutely!
We went to Pigeonhole for Date Night during Calgary's Prix Fixe event. We were very pleasantly surprised that we both were able to try everything on this special menu. Plenty of delicious food to try and share. I loved the casual atmosphere of this clean and welcoming restaurant. Our server was very good - attentive but not overbearing.
The only complaint that we have is that the music was way too loud for conversation and the type of music was annoying - more suitable for a club than a restaurant.
Very very nice food! A little bit disappointed by my desert, that was canned fruit and not fresh fruit.. But all the rest of the food was really good!
The food took way too long to come out... went for lunch and we waited over an hour for 3 BLT’s.... disappointed.
Amazing food and service as usual. My favourite brunch in Calgary right now!
Wanted to celebrate an occasion with some friends and thought that Summerfeast was finally my excuse to try out Pigeonhole, that had been on my list for way too long.
I was underwhelmed, unfortunately. Our waiter wasn't very knowledgeable. He did not know much about the wines on the wine list, had to go back and ask every time. Could not confirm where the bread was from either. After that, we figured we would stop asking questions about the menu.
Now about the menu. The appetizers left much to be desired. The salad was very simple, some greens with the most minimal amount of apricot (were they locally grown? we did not want to ask, as mentioned above) and the tartare looked more like a bolognese sauce than an actual tartare. I don't know if that meat cut type (ground) was intentional, again we did not ask. Perhaps I am too picky on French cuisine.
The main courses were delicious though, although I am still debating the choice of serving the fish and the lamb in iceberg lettuce... Most of my friends thought the cauliflower was too spicy, but I really enjoyed it. I even used some leftover gravy to put on the lamb, great combo!
Dessert. The madeleines were amazing, warm as they should. Wasnt a fan of the deconstructed banana split, but then, I am no fan of banana split.
Bonus points for the music. The old school hip hop was on point!
I guess I am a bit disappointed as for the money spent, I was hoping for a better overall experience. I would definitely come back to give it a try, especially for brunch, as I heard from many friends that they have had great experiences with other servers.
I went to this restaurant because I heard a very favourable review on CBC radio - and they were right! The food selection wasn't huge but all choices sounded delicious. I really liked the fact that I could get delicious gluten free options. My eggs benny was perfectly cooked and tasty.
I would however tone down the music - a bit too loud to have an enjoyable chat with my friend.
Top notch great food and service!!!!
Awesome food, awesome service. The tartare and poached strawberries were the highlights. Simply put, one of the best meals I've ever had.
Best meal I have had in a long time. Creative and delicious.
Have gone a few times to this gem of a restaurant - by far the best pancakes in the city, or Canada - possibly the world??? Tom was our server, and serve he did! I have never had such attentive and efficient service, our water glasses never ( and I mean not even for a second ) stayed empty, despite the busy morning, he was extremely kind and didn’t miss a beat getting food to our table - a truly lovely employee the industry of restaurants is gifted to have! Thank you Tom, for the wonderful experience - can’t wait to come back! I work at a hotel downtown and recommend this spot to every single one of my guests - many have gone - and they all love! A must see in Calgary,
Lovely place with super tasty food! Chef Leone’s green goddess dressing on the salad, shrimp and grits, and rhubarb Panama cotta were so delicious! The servers were also quite attentive and friendly!
Thank you and we will be back again!
Love love love Pigeon Hole! Terry is the best waitress, and drink maker; the chef makes breakfasts full of deliciousness, and it’s so great they’ve kept the history of the model dairy that was once in that building with milk bottles and brick walls. (This building was one of the few in the era built solely with brick because wood was considered unsanitary if the milk spilled) The gluten free soufflé pancakes are drool worthy! Hand squeezed OJ strained for less pulp, Monogram coffee, crisp bacon, homemade sausage... everything is a definite must!
Those souffle pancakes are an absolute must..... Pigeonhole has quickly become one of my favorite brunch spots in the city!
Very delicious brunch, with an excellent selection of interesting menu items. Great selection of drinks, including a wide variety of cocktails and very cool wines. The service was wonderful, and the staff went above and beyond to make the patrons have a nice time. Pigeonhole rules and I will definitely go back!
One of the best meals we had for a really long time, plan on going next week
Excellent service, food was great. Bit on the noisy side, get intimate with the neighboring tables.
Great service, amazing food Zane cocktails. Most dishes are a perfect size for sharing so you can try a wide variety for two people.
I've been to Pigeonhole many times for dinner, but this was my first time for brunch. Such a beautiful location / setting on the patio (weather was perfect), great service, and the food was outstanding. Will definitely be back!
The coffee was very sour and bitter. The waitress agreed with me and sent it back. The food was great but portions were very small for the price.
Tasty options, interesting wine. All around excellent
One of the best restaurants in Calgary since it opened. Because of the food, the staff, the ambiance; you name it
Great food with excellent flavours. Great recommendations by our server Mitchell. Would definitely recommend and will be going back in the future.
Server was exceptional. Food amazing. Room uncomfortably noisy. I will hesitate to return as a result. Unfortunate.
Great food, lovely decor, tasty coffee. Brunch is a treat, I’ll be back for dinner- order the cabbage!
A fabulous, dynamic restaurant that never disappoints. It's rapidly becoming a go-to for me in the city. Do yourself a favor and order the earl grey martini, it's killer.
Best brunch in town with a wonderful convivial atmosphere. Love it!
After experiencing hundreds of restaurants in my lifetime, I can confidently say that the food at Pigeonhole tonight was the best ever. The service was top notch, as well. Very attentive and sincerely cautious and helpful regarding multiple food allergies.
Despite the steadily climbing noise level (patrons as well as street noise from open window & door) and very high prices, I still give them 5 stars.
Superb food and service with classic bone china along 17th avenue. Small menu, but all cooked freshly to order - especially recommend the arepas Benedict with either country ham or smoked salmon. The hash browns are to die for!! Caesar/Bloody Mary and Mimosa for $5 at the time....what could possibly go wrong!!
The quality of ingredients is there, the marriage of flavour is constant! Presentation is a difficult aspect as people share dishes but has room for improvement. The old English China used for the dishes is neat but does not match the odd rap music for my taste. Model milk is a better option for a calmer special occasion dining experience for the over 50’s. Nonetheless, the food is well prepared and the price is very reasonable for the food quality. Be back to try the brunch!
Great place. Lovely atmosphere. Food is fantastic as is the service.
