About Pig n Whistle on 36th
Welcome to Pig n' Whistle! The original Pig n' Whistle was located in the Old Townhouse of President Taft on West 48th street, in the heart of New York's Rockefeller Center. The friendly people and atmosphere quickly became the meeting place for New York's literary and banking elite. The new "Pig and Whistle" on West 36th Street, in the heart of the theater district, has the look and the feel of the historic townhouse where it all began. From the oak bar and paneling, copper bar back, private party rooms and bay window overlooking 36th street, "Pig and Whistle" continues to follow the same detail and style as that gracious home in Rockefeller Center. Please stop by. We look forward making your stay a very pleasant one.

Pig n Whistle on 36th Ratings and Reviews
Out for our annual family get together before a NY Rangers game. We've been coming here for the past three years and repeated it this year. It's normally a great place to grab a bite before the game as they typically have ample, well trained staff. Unfortunately tonight was the exception.
The main course for everyone came out in waves - two at a time. The waitress wasn't the one to deliver the food and the kitchen staff member who did kept trying to deliver us multiple quesadillas which we didn't order. (We ordered three... they tried to deliver 8 more in multiple trips back to the table.) It was about ten minutes between delivery of the first plate to the last dish. We also ordered an extra plate of fries which never made it to the table. We asked the waitress about them and she said she would check on it. They still never came out. If you happen to get an extra plate of fries on your visit, I hope they were good!
My nephew found a fly in his beer. (Must have had a lot to drink as it was passed out!) He did get a replacement (sans insects) but the waitress never asked if anyone else wanted another beer or soda.
I guess everyone has a bad night... unfortunately for us we happened to be there for the bad night.
Close to penn station / msg. We wanted a casual place before the Billy Joel concert and this was perfect. The food was very good, especially the veggie burger! The waitress was friendly and efficient. Service was quick. We were seated upstairs despite requesting in the reservation that we avoid stairs. Even when they called to confirm they said we were downstairs. However, I️ didn’t say anything once we got there. I️ feel like they probably would have changed it. Upstairs was a little less noisy.
Would recommend it.
Nice pub - enjoyed the bangers and mash. Had a pleasant meal here before an event at MSG. Service was friendly and efficient - good for a quick meal. Food was nice and home cooked. I liked the Carrot and Ginger Soup. Price was ok - middle of the road - Wine approx $7 - $9 per glass. Has an upstairs and a downstairs. Seemed a popular place to have a quick drink afterwork or a quick meal. Slightly noisy, but nothing unusual and certainly fine. Probably not a first date place!! Have eaten here before and will likely come back.
Had drinks and dinner before a concert at MSG. Convenient location, Sat night at 6:00PM was not crowded. Bartender was a bit confused by who ordered what, but otherwise, the drinks were well prepared. Food was tasty - had a Cajun Shrimp Club ($13.95 - Cajun Seasoned Shrimp, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Garlic Aioli on a Brioche Bun) which I was very happy with.
It was perfect for the occasion. It was a pre Garden event dinner. Not rushed but still quick enough to make the event in plenty of time. Great close proximity to the Garden (MSG). The bar was busy for the evening, the food and service were great. We arrived (party of 8) on time and our reserved table was waiting for us.
Will definitely revisit when back in NYC.
Within 15 minutes of paying at this restaurant , I discovered the next day, that my credit card number had been skimmed or stolen while my card was being run at this restaurant . I very much doubt it was a coincidence . Diners beware!!!!!! Don't go and have ur card stolen and have hundreds of dollars charged to your card
our family usually enjoys pig n whistle and it is a good option when you are going to madison square garden. we have eaten here many times and the food is good but we find that the wait staff is a little rude at times. this visit proved that again. disappointing. anyway the food was good and we were finished in time for our show. just wish the waiter was a little more professional when i asked him a question and he wasn't rude.
One of my biggest pet-peeves is having to continuously wave down my server to get their attention. Our waitress was more interested in socializing with the hostess and other employees. Glass empty for over 10 minutes. Finally placed the order and no sign of waitress or drink. Had to flag her down again to ask on the status of our drinks. Painful experience. The food was okay. Not a place to brag about or revisit.
This pub is walking distance from MSG so it's a great choice for before or after game drinks and eats. The fish and chips were delish and the burgers looked pretty tasty too. Large beer and drink selection just need a few more apps or shareables. Overall decent place for a bite and drink. Cheers!
Good proximity to MSG, but, a bit too raucous for my liking.. If you're looking for the 20-something LOUD drinking crowd, then this is the place for you. Pub grub was OK and you know that's the menu before you get there. Packed in tightly, much like sardines, on a Friday night....
Again......if that's your ideal atmosphere, then you'll be right at home.
We ordered 2 entree salads to split as an appetizer. They were delicious and a fun start to the meal. The quinoa salad was surprisingly great. The pulled pork and veggie burgers were delicious. And the French fries, which I tried not to eat, were irresistible. Then we split crime brûlée
Cozy place for our party of 7.Hostess was great and had good timing.Always there when we needed her except at the end when we were trying to leave she was not coming around to pick up the bill. Did not love my chicken panini, chicken dry over cooked, roll was hard. Ribs were great, meetball sliders, chicken pot pie, pulled park sandwich all were good. Did not love the high bar stools, oh well. Overall nice for a casual early supper after a show.
Our server was super nice and attentive. However, the food and appetizers came out so fast we felt a little rushed. Drinks had little to no alcohol. We ordered the crab cake sandwich and the crab cake was the size of a half dollar on a huge roll. Not the best but not the worst. Also, the seating was weird as I people were constantly knocking into the back of my chair. Won't be returning.
No hostess as you enter. Try & find someone to pay attention to you....Good LUCK! Finally seated up stairs but NOT at a window as requested in my open table reservation. Sat a good 10 mins before we were approached by the waiter that was just hanging out at the bar watching us sit for 10 mins. He greeted us with "What can I do for you?" REALLY?!? Thats how you greet your customers?? So as you guessed service was nonexistent . Food----Ehh----FAIR at best.
Couldn't wait to get out of there and go some where else for dessert & cocktails.
BTW---this was 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. I can't imagine the disaster it must have been like at dinner time. Shame on the management to allow this poor experience. Wasted our time & money.
My husband and I spent the day in NYC for a show. Dined afterwards. There are two floors. Main floor with the large bar and TV screens which was a bit noisy - but a good energy. We sat up on the second floor which overlooks the bar area and wasn't noisy at all. Food was delicious. Hubby had the cream of zucchini soup which was out of this world (he let me have a couples spoons full). I wanted to ask for the recipe. He also had the pork sandwich and fries which he enjoyed. I had the chicken pot pie which was also delicious. Service was excellent. Will definitely go again. What a gem!
