Pierside Kitchen at Semiahmoo Resort Ratings and Reviews
Food was not good. Spent $75 and didnt get full didnt enjoy the food i had raw duck it was pink and gross, never recommend this place to anyone overpriced not good and waste of money portions are not enough food nothing special, also saw in the kitchen working making deserts with there hands that who knows are clean or not and whipped it againts the food. overall dont waste your money for this "fancy" place.
Pierside was quiet, quaint & romantic. Service was excellent- attentive, but gracious, not overbearing. Food was delicious, but portions were a little small. Total bill was a little pricy. We very much enjoyed our meal at Pierside. It was a special, splurge date night. It was lovely to see the lights of Canada reflect on the water outside the window.
Food was okay, nothing spectacular, and very small portions. Price was a bit high for the overall experience. Staff was not very friendly or attentive. Seating by the window is nice but the windows have a wooden beam right at eye level so you can't see much. I'd recommend only because if you're staying at Semiahmoo there's not much else there and traveling to Bellingham is a bother.
Three of us dined here sharing the halibut and the cioppino. We started with the heirloom tomato salad. Outstanding!! Red and yellow tomatoes, and a creamy, delicious burrata with olive oil and a vinaigrette. Zero mush in the excellently flavored tomatoes. The mix of flavors was perfect. The Halibut came with English peas and celery root. It was cooked perfectly. The fish was seared on one side and just flaky and moist throughout. It was a mild flavored dish that needed nothing added. It even went well with the 2010 Temperanillo. The cioppino was OMG yummy. Spicy and so full of delicious clams, shrimps, halibut, chorizo, mussels and salmon. It comes in a huge bowl with delicious herbed bread for soaking up that wonderful broth. We were too full for dessert but if I'd had room, i would have had the roasted peach with blueberry sorbet and honeycomb. Ooh!
It was a bit chilly sitting by the window but we had jackets and the views were worth the cool. Besides, we burned a few extra calories. (whew! - I ate a lot of bread - I almost forgot!!!!! Even the butter was hard to not eat right off the plate - all by itself. Salted and lemon? Just yum.
Definitely returning to this excellent restaurant.
We'd been to Pierside before. As with our last visit, this time we had a few moments of stellar food. Specifically, halibut was cooked with a perfect crust, but it was put in a fashionable bowl that's hard to eat from, and which contained a broth that largely did in the crispiness of the fish. More pressing issue for the restaurant is to tidy up service. As on our previous visit, the waits between courses were as much as 100% too long, at least 50% too long by even generous reckoning. I don't think we'll return for dinner.
Great potential yet very poor execution- seemed like the wait staff and kitchen were out of sync and backed up. 35 minutes between soup service and entrees - really. The poor tempo spoiled the experience. The food was tasty, attractively plated and adequate in size.
Our server comp'd a dessert, which saved the evening from a single star.
My husband and I stayed the night at the resort and ate dinner at the Pierside for our anniversary. The food was ok. Pretty good flavor and presentation but a bit overpriced. We should have stuck with ordering off the wine list rather than cocktails though. I can't remember ever sending something back, but I couldn't taste anything but olive juice in my dirty martini. Fortunately our server was kind enough to swap it out for a glass of wine.
We've been hear many times. The noise level is moderate;you can carry a conversation while you are eating.
The food is excellent. Prepared timely and to your instructions. The taste oh The taste is delicious and dessert my favorite is highly recommended.
The views are nice and peaceful, Overlooking the water and white rock. Great when at night when lite up.
We've been here a few times, and we love it, but the service seemed to be especially slow tonight. Don't get me wrong, the service was great, it just felt like we waited forever for our drinks and our food...and our dessert...and our bill. With two kiddos at the table that was a little rough. Normally the service is much faster. Oh well! We'd still go back! The food is worth the wait!
We really enjoyed our dining experience. The meals, service, and view were good and worth the travel. In fact, we came by sailboat and stayed over night in the Semiahmoo marina dining for dinner and then breakfast at the Pierside Kitchen and drinks at Packer's Bar. The view from both restaurants is spectacular.
My experience at the Pierside Kitchen at the semiahmoo resort was a decent one. I enjoyed the food although it is a tad bit pricey I do think you get what you pay for. It was very romantic and I enjoyed the date I had there. What I did not like was the service; it took 30 minutes before someone came to take my order even after I had expressed that I knew what I wanted. And then after placing my order it also took a while before the food actually got to the table, I'm just glad I was in good company because otherwise it would have been even more frustrating. By the end of the meal I waited several minutes before being able to pay and my date had to flag down a different waitress in order to get our bill because the waitress we had had not checked in on us. I have been to this restaurant before though and I went with a group of 6, my experience then had been wonderful and so I thought this time would be similar but it was not. I know that it depends on the server sometimes so I can only hope for a better waitress next time I dine out here and I still would recommend this place.
Beautiful setting and great food. Some dishes were amazing, others just solid. They were very accommodating of my vegetarian requests and let me have some of the beluga lentils from a meat dish to accompany my salad and roasted cauliflower to round out my delicious meal.
Have to say I was totally impressed by everything and everyone. Service was very attentive but not overwhelming; but the food....ahhhh the food...it not only looked gorgeous and appetizing and picture perfect....IT WAS!! The only negative - when it starts to fill up, the sound level goes up. BUT, the view - a major wow factor; the service - not only in Pierside but also in Packers - and the beautifully presented and delicious - makes the noise level a secondary factor. We had a birthday at our table and the dessert (a gift from Pierside) was stunning in looks and taste! Perfect ending to a perfect day in Semiahmoo! We'll be back again and again.
Food and service are very good. You have a choice of eating outside with a wonderful waterfront view and White Rock, Canada in the distance. Even in the summer i doubt there are many days that would be uncomfortably hot. This is a really nice place......you will not be sorry you went.
The one negative is when paying your bill, the waiter/waitress takes your credit card and goes somewhere to run it. This is very dangerous. Fleming restaurants (In the USA) bring a remote terminal to your table adding immensely to the security of your credit card. Not permitting you to accompany your card to the terminal also negates your opportunity to use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, etc. If I ate here again, I would bring ample cash.
The food was good, though as good as the high prices would warrant. The service was terrific - wonderful waiter from Lithuania - funny, friendly, and just the right amount of interaction. The view was nice, but the windows were dirty (how can that be?). The big problem was the noise - the dining room is built to model after a New England chowder hall, which was fun, but like a New England chowder hall it was incredibly loud, so much so that it detracted from the overall experience significantly. I expect a lot of loudness when I'm in Maine at a chowder hall buying a lobster dinner for $20, but not when I'm paying top dollar for fine dining. If you want to go to Semiahmoo I recommend you get the outdoor BBQ or go the other restaurant, a burger joint, in the hotel.
Hi. We have eaten at the Pierside Restaurant last October and were very impressed. We had a great meal. Of course the view and ambience are fantastic. However this time, perhaps due to the long weekend the restaurant being very busy, I have to say our meals were only ok especially for the money.
Semiahmoo Resort over the years have lived up to my expectations. The location is beautiful and the facility is superb but the services has always lacked. I went out there because of the view and we previously had good food at the restaurant. This time the brunch was minimum with strange items included like variety of pizza's, just green salad, few pastries, tray of scramble eggs, some meat like bacon and sausage, etc. The price was $28 dollars. Our waiter acted like it was his first day. All and all big disapointment.
Our entrees were excellent. Local salmon superbly cooked with great garnishes. Reasonably priced, too. Our dessert, split the butterscotch pudding, was very good. Green tea crumble on top too clever by half though. Our appetizer, roasted beets, was OK. Beets neither the star nor clearly roasted. Tempeh more of the star, but at least it's fermented on site. Our bread was kind of weak, like cut hours before, as was the second basket when we asked about it. I was also brought the wrong beverage, a scotch ale instead of a stout, which I survived. We waited a long time for the entree, and for the dessert, like that extra 5 minutes that cuts into the pleasure. I'd go again because the entree shows that a full meal could be a knock-out, the staff were all quite nice, and the setting is quite picturesque.
This was our third time eating at the Pierside Kitchen. Like both previous occasions, while the server was nice and friendly, there seemed to be a disconnect between the kitchen staff. I ordered Seafood Chowder to start; someone from the kitchen brought out the food but there was no spoon. Likewise with my main; pork chop but no knife. Both times I finally had to flag down another random server to help out. Our server seemed to disappear for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. We found similar issues with previous visits. Perhaps they are just so busy? I guess that's a good thing but failing to address server issues makes for a less than stellar experience.
Lovely view. The service overall was good. The staff didn't have much experience with the short wine list but was accommodating. The appetizer scallops were great. As for the entree, my friend liked the halibut but unfortunately my salmon was overly dry and I didn't finish it. Given the overall ratings for this restaurant and the resort location, I expected to be wowed. I just wasn't.
