About Pier W
Pier W, a landmark Cleveland restaurant, has been serving a critically acclaimed seafood and contemporary menu since May 11, 1965. Having recently undergone a $3 million interior renovation, the new Pier W resembles a sophisticated luxury liner cantilevered over Lake Erie offering dramatic views of both the Lake and the downtown Cleveland skyline.
We would like to request that shorts, flip flops and baseball caps are not worn to the restaurant.

Pier W Ratings and Reviews
I expected more from the atmosphere. The tables were set up with just white table cloths, no center pieces, flowers, or anything nice. Nice view of the lake and downtown Cleveland. I'd reserve going there for a special occasion because of the pricing. Not too expensive, but not casual dining either. The food upheld standards. Creative menu choices. I had the pistachio crusted golden trout and it was exceptionally tasteful. I also had the creme brûlée and it was SO good. My husband had the peanut butter chocolate bomb, it was okay.
My husband and I enjoyed the best dining experience of our life. The caesar salad was delicious with just the right amount of dressing. I had the stuffed shrimp and my husband had the scallions. Both were recommended by our very professional server Melanie. Both entries were out of this world delicious. My husband is not too easily impressed and he was totally floored by the service and quality of food. We will be back again for the Baked Alaska and ambiance.
Pier W Sunday buffet was outstanding. All stations were always keep fresh and full. Excellent new station with cajun shrimp, scallops and nokee in a lobster sauce. Service was excellent with Michael as our server. Like the idea of fresh silver ware after every change of plates. Surprised that this was our second try and the items offered change showing creativity by the chefs. Desserts were excellent especially the creme brule and pecan trifle.
I've been to plenty romantic restaurants throughout the United States of America and I've found that Pier W is by far the best I've encountered in my experience of dining out !!! The Pier W Bouillabasse was extremely delicious !!! Hands down best place I've EVER been !!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF NEVER BEEN!!!!
We went with friends to celebrate (belatedly) my birthday. We had drinks in the bar beforehand while waiting for our table. The bar was very crowded and that probably was why our drink orders were a bit slow getting to our table. But the bar is very attractive with a live piano music.
Our entrees were very good: lobster tail specials and crab legs.
the root vegetables that were to come with the lobster tail special did not make it to one of our plates, but our server Kevin was most attentive and remedied the situation!
A delicious complimentary (birthday)mint chocolate cheesecake was a lovely touch.
It is always disappointing not to get the requested "window table" at Pier W. I know it is first come, first served, but I wish there was a way to accommodate special requests that are made very far in advance.
Our table was fine, but not, alas, the window table:(
Overall a lovely dining experience and we would go back.
We had to wit 35 minutes for our food. We told our waitress we had a time limit because we were going to see Wicked. Our food we had to inhale 8 minutes to eat our dinner. Not happy. People were served their food before we did. E were seated 15 minutes earlier
Last time we went the waiter was amazing, asked if we were out for a special occasion, when I said my wife’s birthday they made a small cake and everything. This time the waiter did the bare minimum which is shocking because this is a higher end resturant meaning more tips. I would challenge management to only hire quality customer service candidates and to be honest that was not the case, waiter messed up my steak order had mushrooms did not want mushrooms, ordered a better bottle of wine, and was shocked he even offered to service it at room temperature. But anyways it was great food.
I flew to Cleveland from San Francisco to celebrate my sister's birthday with her, and we dined at Pier W for her birthday. The restaurant setting is absolutely magical, with the twinkling lights of downtown Cleveland across Lake Erie. We were pretty awed when we walked in. We were disappointed that we didn't get a window table (in fact, we were seated in one of the few booths that are situated so our backs were to the window), but the ambience was still incredible, and we enjoyed our meal. Service was very attentive, but our waitress seemed to be waiting on a number of parties, and she didn't actually serve any of our food--someone else brought it to the table. That's a bit different than I am used to, but our dinners were delicious. I had a crusted halibut and my sister had a snapper/lobster dish. My sister was served a birthday cupcake, and we also both ordered desserts from the menu--both delicious. I highly recommend Pier W for both the food and the incredible view.
Don't expect to get a table for 5 unless you want to eat next to hostess stand. Facility 30% full and we requested a table away from hostess stand/ entrance and were told only table which could accommodate 5. Very disappointing, as faculty was 30% full and other tables clearly available. The table was in the path way of main entrance with zero view right next to hostess stand.
This was my 3rd trip to Pier W. My husband and I have been here for dinner, for a happy hour and this time we decided to try out brunch. Everything at Pier W is well worth the money you spend. The service is always excellent, the food is amazing and the views and ambiance are beautiful. Pier W is perfect for a date night, a family or friend get together and you definitely have to try the brunch! Delish!
We visited PierW many times before, but we may not return for another time. Reason, overpriced, food quality declined. The ceaser salad was salty wilted, the dessert selection could be more updated with fresh fruit etc. I did not like the very tight corner place, felt like a child was put in the corner for bad behavior. My husband asked for a second glass of champagne, the charge $8.95. Way overpriced!
Great restaurant. Not our first time here but there is never complaints at all. The food is outstanding, the service very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful and the view is spectacular (even though it was an awful weather day and we couldn't go for a walk on the pier. This may be our favorite restaurant in the Cleveland area and it never fails to live up to that status. Recommend it highly !
