Pier Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Needs a good cleaning. Location is okay, on the water, not the best views, but okay. Interior is a bit "tired". Food was average. Not so special you would want to return. Wait staff was attentive, personable, and didn't have to be asked to provide service. She was the highpoint of the experience.
Nice experience overall. Can't beat being on the water downtown. Bali Hai is another one to check out if you are looking for a nice waterfront experience. We were seated on the northern side and had a view of the dock close by. If you can get a table on the Coronado bridge side and towards the end of the restaurant you will have primo seating (on cooler days). It was a scorcher when we went so the north side was thankfully a bit cooler.
I had the 3 fish plate which looked really healthy so I wasn't sure if I was going to like it when it arrived--all my colleagues had fish tacos and other lip smackers. The 3 fish plate was delicious as was the rice and steamed vegetables. Staff very friendly and accommodating albeit a little longer than usual to get food ordered.
The view is very nice and they will allow dogs in the patio area. The staff was very nice. Unfortunately, the food was just so so. I had the ceviche and quacamole. The quacamole was bland without any seasoning. The ceviche was alright, but tasted bland as well. The fish tacos were good.
We came here for my parent's 40th wedding anniversary. The decor was nothing special, the noise level was loud, bad acoustics, especially with a large ethnic family who just let their children yell and no restaurant manager came to tell them to be quiet. The food, for me, was just average for the cost. Most likely will not return. Only special thing was that it was on the water.
What a lovely Café. My friends and I enjoyed the experience very much. I would like to see a bit more of a variety on the entree's on the menu but my fish and chips were very good. I want to give a 'huge' shout out to Ricardo who was our waitperson (4/7/17 around 7pm). He was just really fantastic and made the whole experience so much better! He is a keeper and deserves a raise!!!! thanks for a great time!
The only good thing about this restaurant was the view. My husband had jambalaya and I had fried shrimp. We are from Louisiana and this was not what we are used to. Jambalaya was about 75% peppers and tomato and not made with a New Orleans style roux. Shrimp was no better than what you buy in the grocery store freezer. Service was ok. Nothing to brag about.
Great place for dinner and lunch. Nice view and great location. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. Food is good but a little pricey for the quality. However the clam chowder is delicious. I'll go again for lunch and couple of drinks. Overall good service. Don't seat by the front because too many walking in and out. It's a small isle. The back seating is better.
The view was beautiful, they were very accomodating for a window seat. My friend ordered seafood and I ordered a chicken sandwich which I wasn't pleased with at all but decided not to say anything. She enjoyed her seafood and we shared the cheese bread appetizer which was TO DIE FOR, absolutely delicious. $75 at the end of the night and since I didn't enjoy my sandwich I didn't find it totally worth but I found the atmosphere to be the reason for the high price which is why I chose not to say something.
This was a nice place to visit the crew serving the food was awesome the food was OK but he says the building needed some repairs, for example the tables are covered by a tarp it recently rain and it continually dripped on our table.
We drove down from Los Angeles to have lunch with a friend. We had a very nice dining experience. Pleasant staff, very nice and accommodating. When ask, didn't hesitate to prepare a dish for my dogs. The food was excellent and plentiful. Access to the cafe from parking was great. I could not be more pleased.
