We had a delicious meal at Pier 701! The Hudson Valley Restaurant Week menu was a great value. The dishes were creative and uniformly good. We will be back, especially to try the outdoor deck in the warmer weather. Very nice riverfront location.
Good & service were impeccable
Second time here, food was delicious but most of all hostess and waiter were super nice, we went here with a Groupon and we were treated no different than a regular customer, can’t wait to go back!!
We had a great meal and a great time with friends.
We’re coming back. We went restaurant week.
Probably a nicer experience in summer sitting outside. Staff were extremely nice.
We had the shrimp and feta appetizer it is awesome. I recommend you try it.
Great food. It's winter, so nice and quiet. Awesome waiter!
What a great menu! It was nice to find a restaurant that would be open on Sundays. We had the brie and the mussels for appetizers and they were amazing and a great combination. The rest of the foods that were brought out, including the incredible Bourbon bread pudding were amazing...everything was great!
My friends recomended this restaurant and they hit the mark! great place sitting on the Hudson, my girlfriend and I are looking forward to going back here. Great food and service Well Done!!!!!
Very nice waitress but food wasn’t great. Tuna tartare was the only thing we liked. Everything else pretty mediocre. Fondue was the worst.
Food was lukewarm. Drinks had no alcohol. Calamari was old and too chewy.
This is a nice restaurant on the water. Seafood & fish should be what's ordered. Warm weather months is the best time. Service is okay & food is good but it's the location on the water that's the reason to go here. So stick with those warmer months where you're outside enjoying that part of it!
Lovely dinner, great show with Frank. Dean and Marilyn..a super evening
We had a delicious meal. The cheese fondue was full of flavor and the portion was very large. I had the braised beef, which was also good but didn’t shred apart as much as I expected it to. The caramel creme brûlée was exquisite.
Sunday afternoon, not busy, and the service was slow and inattentive. Food was good ... when you got it. Expensive for what you got. A party of eight, with split checks, still charged 20% tip. The service didn't warrant 15%. It was nice to have tried it, not going back.
Second time there... great food friendly well trained waitstaff. Food great. Plenty of choices for all tries of eaters.
Courteous prompt and delicious
In summer the deck is amazing!!
They have a nice menu. The food is good. Service likewise. We used a Groupon which made the price a very good value. I’d call them somewhat pricey without the Groupon. The Groupon allows a shared appetizer, a drink each and then a main course each. The shared appetizer was plenty for two people. They also serve warm buns with dinner. We were too full for dessert.
We had a Groupon so I took my daughter as my husband and other daughter not crazy about menu item - too much fish for them! It was very quiet when we went as we had an early dinner on a Friday at 4:30. 2 other couples came while we were there and also had Groupons. The Groupon was a good value but not sure I'd go back. Service was good but not with dressed up servers which one might expect for a restaurant of this caliber. Food was tasty but not something you'd write home about except for the beet salad which we started with and loved.
very pleasant experience. Mu ch different that summer dining. Wait staff very attentive and food tasted fresh and cooked to order. Over all a fantastic night
Good value received and good service but no salad or bread was offered or included. Nice riverfront location and romantic except for endless Christmas music that needed a lower decibel level.
We had a Groupon which made an otherwise pricey restaurant a very good value. The food is very good. There are several rooms - the one in the back is small, quiet and has a (gas) fireplace. There’s outside seating in warm weather with a great view of the Hudson and what I still call the Tappan Zee Bridge. The service was very good. With the Groupon each couple shares an appetizer (nice size portions), gets one drink each and gets s main course. There are a lot of choices on the menu along with specials.
Would recommend in the summer as it is in the river and for a later dinner with music venue
We were the only ones in the restaurant. The food was very good. The waiter was great. The food was worth it with the Groupon but pricey without it. I’d return with a Groupon.
WE had a disappointing dinner at Pier 701. The food was mediocre at best. The fish was definitely not fresh and not well flavored. The salad appetizer sounded good on paper but was actually a very bad combination with a weird taste. I would not go back. Because of the cold weather we could not enjoy the view, but it is probably nice to have a drink outside in the warmer weather. The service was good.
My wife and I went to Pier 701 for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. WE both had excellent meals( I had the Short Ribs; she the Branzino) Terrific meals, substantial portions and excellent service.
Average food for the price. Very little ambience. Unappealing building. May be nicer in warmer months, sitting outside.
The wait staff was pretty good and attentive. The food was not worth the price by any means, it was ok. Also really don't appreciate going to dinner and spending over 100 dollars and being served sauces in plastic to go containers with the lids on them. The restaurant was also extremely loud, made it very hard to talk to the person I was dining with. I would like to note that not even half the restaurant was full while we were there at any given time, and it was still way too loud.
Amazing food! This stellar food is losing out to uninformed, disheveled servers, an ice box of a dining room with zero ambiance, and a surly receptionist who may be better suited for work at a food truck. Wait until summer and dine outdoors overlooking the majestic Hudson. Hopefully, by then, the staff will be replaced with a competent waitstaff.
This is the fourth time I have dined at Pier 701 . However this is the first time , we had a "strange" waiter. Usually the staff is better. Also members of my party complained their steak was tough and dry
This was a Friday night choice for Restaurant Week. The food was delicious, the service was great and the band - a bit of a surprise - was great. The setup of the room when we walked in left something to be desired, which is the reason for less than 5 stars.
Ugh! Big disappointment! Our waitress was so nice and her descriptions of the specials made our mouths water. BUT, when the food arrived, it was dry, overcooked (actually looked like last week's leftover...yeah, awful). Plus, no wild fish available...all the meat and foul are from the big industrial, torture manufacturers. Nothing organic or natural. Now, granted, I didn't book our Birthday gathering for it's organics...and I suspect that even those foods would have been badly prepared anyway. DON'T GO to this restaurant! O'Lar and Sidewalk Cafe are far superior! Good things about Pier 701: on the water / the staff is friendly and nice / the buns are crunchy on the outside and warm and moist inside. Sorry, but that's all I can say that's positive. OH...and, despite mentioning it 2X and online reservation notes: they DID NOT bring out a piece of chocolate cake or some dessert for our Honored Birthday Guest. The celebration all in all was a bust.
Bread plates but no bread
Poor layout of restaurant, have to be shown a shortcut near the kitchen to find the bathroom.
Sporadic service at best
Ordered an angus burger with cheese, bacon and fried egg. A store bought pre-made patty with a fried egg eventually came to our table. When we finally got the waitress' attention she brought out three pieces of cold bacon and two pieces of American cheese on a plate and told us that it was the third time that day the burger was made wrong.
Also... they almost force you to use valet parking by walking up to your car and telling you that you can't park in their lot and they're not even nice about it.
Wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.
A very lovely surprise. Food was excellent. Service was pleasant. The evening was perfectly nice.
Food was just okay. Beautiful views. Probably best for bar food and deck sitting.
The folks we’re nice and the food was okay. Service was really slow even though there were not that many people there.
Wow! The view from the outside dining area is just about perfect. Located on the Hudson just south of the Tappan Zee bridge, this perfect spot is ideal on a warm day. I had lunch with an older friend who was easily able to walk through to the deck where we enjoyed the warm weather, the view and a very good meal. Mussels in wine sauce was a perfect appetizer. I had grilled salmon that was not dry at all. My friend had a steak that she enjoyed, though the vegetables were cold. Could it have been because we ate outside. This is a wonderful place to eat in good weather.
The appetizer was excellent. The main course of short ribs was tender bout lacked flavor and was cool. We had to send the meals back to be heated.
The place was virtually deserted on a Saturday night which was a cause of concern. We have visited them several times.....often using a Groupon.......The food is very good, service is efficient.....ambiance pleasing......Why empty????
First time: valets lost my car for 15 min
Second time: very slow service and bland food
I would only recommend coming here if you want to sit at the bar and just enjoy the view and the atmosphere. Once we sat at a table, the service was non-existent. We sat with no water, no drink refill (we sat down with drinks from the bar), and without even an explanation--we made eye contact with the waitress several times, but she never came over--for 40 minutes. At that point we decided just to leave. When we said we were leaving, they explained they were understaffed, but it wasn't really that busy. We are reasonable people. They could have refilled our drinks, and explained and apologized for the slow service after 10-15 minutes and we would have been fine.
