PIER 7 restaurant + bar - 'Shipyard Square' North Vancouver Ratings and Reviews
The venue is excellent except for all the construction around it that hampers access by car. But if you park outside of the area and walk, that’s better. The whole experience was excellent and we would go back. Only complaint is with Open table where there is the option to modify the reservation but no way that I could see to send it!
During our vacation in North Vancouver we went for shared apps during happy hour at Pier7. The food was very good and the atmosphere and view were excellent. The crab cakes were especially good. As dusk moved into night, the spectacle of Vancouver across Burrard Inlet just got more and more spectacular.
As a spur of the moment thing I thought it would be nice to grab some fish at Pier 7; the place seems to have not really changed since I was there a few years ago. Short story long it wasn’t fantastic but the staff were nice enough and the food wasn’t special enough to rave about. So I’d give it a 7 overall. Could be better - I’ve been to worse.
We were graciously accommodated by this restaurant because we were going to be early. I called and they made it work.I was really impressed and grateful. From that moment on, every service, atmosphere and morsel of food was bad. We had 2 orders of fish and chips and 3 soups and a sandwich and waited over an hour to be served. We sat 15 minutes before anyone took our order. Our waitress was run off her feet, while others stood around and did nothing. The manager seemed to be in hiding. We were sat at a table neighbouring the patio door and were freezing, when it opened. Sometimes the hostess would stand in the open door for no reason. We were served hot tea. Without milk or sugar anywhere on the table. We asked the hostess to get us some milk and another saucer as one of the teacups didn't have it.
Our waitress seemed to be doing everything else, and it took the hostess 10 minutes to bring it. As we had a view of the kitchen, watching her wandering around it, left us gobsmacked. It was if she had never been in it. Instead of a saucer she brought out a plate. How can anyone work in a restaurant and not know what a saucer is?
We asked to speak to management and it took him 15 minutes to get to the table. The soup apparently was very good. The Fish and Chips were much less than hot and greasy. The manager did give us a 50% discount on our bill, and it somehow still didn't seem enough. I would have preferred that time back.
Moreover, no one seemed to be in charge or giving direction.
I would point out that some of the staff where dressed inappropriately. If the seam is ripped open it is usually and indication that the clothes is too tight. Backless shirts and skirts that expose the underwear ( thank god there was underwear) and pink bra straps made me uncomfortable.I understand that might be appealing for some, but not for me on New Years Day at 1pm.
Food is dry and salad that they served was a joke! Not worth $84 bucks for 5 courses! Served us one scope of cheap ice cream! I've been going to The Keg and their food was more worth a penny than this restaurant! But we had no choice but to stay as we were there already and we didn't want to be rude! But I have to be honest with how we feel about our experience in this place! Sorry! We definitely learned our lesson! We will recommend The Keg! Not this one!
Excellent food, service and ambiance.
I am a stickler for freshly served hot food prepared how the chef intended it to be experienced. The server plays a big part in knowing when the food is ready and serves it right away piping hot. The server excelled in this and I will return for more of this wonderful service. Drinks were great as well. Thank you very much for a wonderful experience!!!
I've been meaning to try Pier 7 out for quite some time. I wasn't disappointed. We all enjoyed ourselves, the food and service were good and the atmosphere was very relaxing - overlooking the water.
Our coffee turned up cold, but they immediately replaced them with americanos at no extra charge (with their apologies), so I'd consider that a plus if anything!
The servers were polite and friendly. Desert was a little slow and a little sugary for my liking, but... it *WAS* desert....
All-in-all very enjoyable and priced appropriately.
We had eggs benny with salmon. It was delish! Have eaten here many times before and it’s always good! Definitely recommend Pier 7.
The only drawback is finding parking. To park at the Pinnacle Hotel is a major rip off. They are charging downtown Vancouver parking prices. Two hours will cost you $12 which is crazy for the North Shore. Also, they have changed a lot of the free street parking to a limit of only 30 minutes. Used to be two hours! And the parking on the way to Pier 7 has all been taken over by the construction people. It’s extremely annoying!
We arrived at the restaurant at what we thought was the opening time of 11:30. We found the door locked, not to be unlocked until 11:45. Since it was cold outside, we walked to a nearby restaurant that was already open. I did not have ability to notify Pier 7 of the change of plans. I apologize.
Excellent meal and service. Upon arrival for our 6:15 reservation we were told restaurant was closing at 7 (staff Xmas party). Why even open? The maitre'd offered the 4 of us 2 free appetizers and meals were excellent. We managed to stay until 7:40 and we were the last to leave. Communication between restaurant and Open Table should have taken place so that this situation had not occurred. Despite the rush the 4 of us came away satisfied.
Service was fast and efficient. We were using a Groupon and found the value of it really good.
Crispy prawns were just that....Crispy, hot and delicious. My husband had the Rib dinner, which came with perfect side accompanyments...Warm potato salad, and coleslaw. I had the prawn and scallop dinner, and although the prawns and scallops were delicious, the sides were completely unimpressive. Wild rice that was quite tasteless, and some roasted vegetables, (onion, and not sure of the other.) The vegetables were unimpressive to say the least. Would have been way nicer, say with a creamy risotto, and baby root vegetables.
This was our first time and we had a Groupon so we sampled a limited menu. The food was very good, only my main was a bit stingy but my husbands meal and the dessert was very generous. The service was way above average with a very friendly server who was there with refills and extras the moment we wanted it. We will definitely be back and will snap up any future Groupons for sure - very good value.
Food was what we have grown to expect after countless visits average not overwhelming. Service was attentive however lacking in timeliness. Clearing table between courses was slow. We are locals who come for the ambience and brought our out of town guests who enjoyed the evening. A little more attention to the details and perhaps a fresh sheet changed daily or weekly would up your game. Parking can also be an issue on a busy evening.
Always a nice dining experience the music is not too loud the serving staff are very good without being too much because it is more often quiet than other places we prefer it to many other places we used to go to tap and barrel a lot but with the change to farmed steelhead from wild salmon we come to pier 7 it was my partner's birthday it would have been nice to have a little bit of a freebie even at brunch also we would like to see smaller portions for a senior's menu and more nutritious vegan or vegetarian meals for children
we would likely come more often if you had a good fish and chips menu and we don't like the specialty coffees cappuccino etc so I go for a regular coffee there get a top end espresso machine and hire a barista for each shift my partner rarely drinks and I haven't drunk alcohol in over 30 years maybe iced tea iced tea lemonade you are certainly better than most which is why we come there but other local places we go for a few things it's more than 10km to your restaurant from our place so there need to be a lot of draws for us to come there
yes a good coffee well made a top quality machine would be a big plus my partner always has tea there and she loves cappuccino as do I
Our server didn't seem to be all there this evening except with the help of the manager and another server. The restaurant was not busy at all.. We arrived just after 4:30pm.
She forgot one of our appies, she forgot to put our food at the happy hour price, and she mixed a few things on the bill when it was pretty clear what couple was together... There were only two couples...
I don't know if our server was new or not but I was not 100% happy with the service we received this evening esp bringing our friends visiting from Mexico but I do appreciate the manager who helped and fixed everything for her.
We had an exception evening. The starters were excellent , and the main courses were wonderful and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful server with a lovely personality and great sence of humour. She was very knowledgeable on our selection of wine. we will definately be back.
I have been to Pier 7 many times but not recently as I was getting disappointed with the food. BUT they have greatly improved the menu and the quality of the items. I was very pleased to see this as it’s a great location with a beautiful view of Vancouver. Their outdoor patio is very nice and does have heaters. I can now highly recommend Pier 7 to everyone! The one drawback, which is not the fault of the restaurant, is parking. If movie people are filming they take up all the parking on the pier. Also, if the Night Market is on you cannot park on the pier at night. I also noted that all around the Pinnacle hotel they have changed the parking fro 2 hours to only 30 minutes which I am sure is a ploy of the Pinacle Hotel to force anyone that cannot walk far to park in their underground lot which is outrageously priced! I wish all the restaurants would band together and making parking in the area easy for handicap people and people that cannot walk a distance.
The ambiance was good but the boil seafood experience was the worse experience ever. Sea food wasn’t fresh at all and shrimps was smelly ,crabs wasn’t fresh and there were no corns!!!!!! They didn’t have all the wines from the wine’s menu (white wine) and we changed our wine order 3times and we got wasn’t the Really worth for money. Not recommend at all !
