PIER 7 restaurant + bar - 'Shipyard Square' North Vancouver
The atmosphere and view are great however the food was just average.
Food and atmosphere were good and the happy hour pricing for appies was good. Only issue was that they accept late registrations but then we felt rushed. We sat down for our 9pm registration and the restaurant closes at 10:30, almost immediately we were told it was last call for drinks and food. This was a special birthday dinner, we tried to order cake/dessert and we were denied. The server seemed in a rush to get out of there and she was not very attentive, kept leaving for long periods of time and did not even bring us napkins or cutlery until we asked. Was overall disappointed with the experience. Perhaps it was the time of day but we were unable to go any earlier and a restaurant should not accept late reservations if they do not provide full service at that hour.
Excellent food, service great. Good value and you cannot beat the view. Our favourite restaurant.
I always enjoy Pier 7 for casual brunch, lunch or appetizers with friends. The view is wonderful from inside or out on the covered patio. I could wish the upstairs areas were open more often.
Good value at lunch time. Varied menu and friendly servers.
Great views and fun location. Food was fair and expensive for what it was.
Our server Justine was lovely, spoke french which my guest taking for lunch also. So she enjoyed
Can't beat the location. Service was good. Large croutons okay for a man but too big for a lady and were stale. Yam fries too salty. Kitchen needs some quality control.
I was there with family celebrating 50th birthday. We requested a table with water view and had informed the restaurant prior to, about the birthday. When we got there, we had an inside table, our server did not know we were there for a birthday, a napkin on our table was dirty with raw food, and our calamari was dry and cold. This is the second time I had a similar experience with Pier 7, which is unfortunate because I think the restaurant has potential to perform at a better scale.
The ambiance was nice and our server was lovely but this experience again makes me think for the third time about whether to return or not.
My wife and I went to Pier 7 to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We had been there a couple times a few years ago but had terrible experiences. However, the location and views inspired us to try again hoping it would have changed. Unfortunately it had NOT changed and maybe had become even worse.
They continue to under utilize their upper level saying its reserved for private events and parties which is a shame. When I was in the restaurant business the goal was to fill the facility as much as possible and book special events and parties in wherever and whenever. The public needs to experience the whole restaurant and its best tables which exceptional food and service to even be interested in booking an event there. Every time we go there it has not been full or tables were empty and they weren't properly staffed to use the empty tables.
The main room the tables and chairs and decor did not match the building, views and location. It looked like we were in a tired old cafeteria.
Our evening began with a nice server but we could instantly tell she cared more about her looks than her service and knowledge of the menu. Our appys arrived before our first cocktail and the table was not set, no cutlery, napkins, water, nothing. 2 of the six "fresh" oysters we had were quite different with a less than fresh smell and very creamy texture, much more than the others to the point we were concerned for our health. When we told our server and she sent the manager who essentially argued with us that they were normal. Especially since 4 of the 6 were relatively decent and much different than the other two despite all being the same varietal. The $35 entrees were a disgrace with terrible presentation, poor quality, and not worth even half what we were charged. The wine was from a tap and came out fizzy and cloudy?? Very disappointing. This place needs new management /owner to take it to its 5 star potential!
Food was cold. Not fresh and just generally awful. Will not eat here again.
Beautiful View.. very nice apologetic server! Those are the only good things I can say. I will not be back.
We went for a special occasion and what a disappointment. The appetizers came and they were average and then we waited over an hour for the next course. We asked several times when the mains were coming. The server was very apologetic but seemed liked she was not surprised and had heard several complaints before. The Vegan Tacos had a smear of green guacamole spread on top of each one. It looked like processed guacamole. They were a watery mess.
The Manager discounted our bill by 50% which was nice but I would have rather paid full price and had a wonderful evening out.
I will not be returning and I would not recommend this restaurant. I don't take any pleasure in writing bad reviews.
We had a very nice brunch and enjoyed the surroundings and the view. We had an excellent server but unfortunately I didn't get her name. I hope you will know who it might be. We sat inside by the window second table going east. Our server was quite tall and very pretty. The only complaint I have is we waited quite awhile for our meals and when they came they weren't very warm. We live in the neighbourhood and visit your restaurant regularly so it was a bit disappointing.
Lovely view of the city. The salmon burger on brioche was fabulous!
The hosts weren’t very friendly. Our server was nice but she got too busy.
Great patio with perfect views ! Love the service and happy hour goodies! Will come again!
Loved the view!
Service was great. Beautiful views of the city. Love the new vegan selections!
We ordered the fish and chips. I have yo say for a restaurant like this, we were shocked as to how awful the fish was. It was basically drenched in oil and all batter that was over cooked and crappy, low quality fish inside. Well there was hardly any fish. Just poor quality!!! My husband and I both ordered the same! Never coming back! For us its about the food not just the view! Had no choice to eat it as our little daughter was starving and we were in a rush! Too bad!!!
We loved the ambience of the place but we ordered the boil and everything was over cooked. The clam chowder was very good though. Hopefully the other menu items are good, but would never order the boil again.
always consistent and enjoyable.Miss the Calamari that you had before.I find the current calamari
very disappointing.Bring a lot of friends from Yaletown and they love the place.Bring back the good calamari
Food was awesome and service was great. We have been many times and have never been disappointed.
Traveling in Vancouver I feel like this gave us a really great experience of the city. Wonderful view of the main city from the north, amazing live music, and wonderful seafood
We really enjoyed our evening at Pier 7 on Saturday. The overcast night made it so that we weren’t too hot on the beautiful outdoor patio. While I wasn’t blown away by the tuna tatami appetizer, the halibut with citrus butter that we had for our main was fantastic, esp with the extra skewer of prawns we ordered. As it was our anniversary, we were given a complimentary dessert (molten lava cake) that was most excellent. Thank you for a really lovely evening. (As an aside for the suggestion box, the finish on the wood tables outside has gotten soft and almost sticky from either the sun or the cleaners used. Table cloths would make a huge difference.)
Ordered a shrimp cocktail and what they provided was 6 tiny shrimp on a pathetic looking piece of iceberg lettuce. Terrible presentation and value for money. I then ordered the 6 oz. steak. The steak was good, and cooked correctly, but some of the potatoes were not fully cooked and the asparagus was essentially raw. Our first time eating here so I'm not sure if this is standard for this place. The location and patio views are nice, however based on this experience I will not be returning.
Our server was awesome!
We were shown to a table surrounded by several tables of large groups so it was very noisy and impossible to have a conversation without shouting. My pet peeve is when 2 people are shown to an area full of large noisy groups when there are many 2-person tables available. After we ordered drinks we asked if we could move to a table away from the large groups and they quickly accommodated us. Food was excellent as was the service and the view from the upper deck. Would definitely go back.
Food was average. Setting and service was outstanding.
Great location. Friendly staff but perhaps short of staff as not overly attentive. food arrived in reasonable time but of average quality.
As a resident of the community, I have eaten here regularly. My visits are becoming fewer as the last few visits have been underwhelming when it comes to the food. It seems they have rethought the menu one or two times too many. My latest experience was with my daughter and we were both very disappointed with our meals - she had the halibut and I had the prawns & scallops...neither meal would have me seeking to eat here again. I have had really good meals here in the past, but for some reason, the consistency in quality is hit and miss...more miss than hit lately!! It’s too bad as the location is exceptional, the view is 2nd to none, and the staff are very pleasant. I hope they will get the food sorted out so that what comes out of the kitchen is consistently more palatable. One of my former favorites (spicy calamari) has been replaced with a kind of pub style rings and tentacles...very disappointing! I will watch the reviews for this place and wait until I see more consistent rave reviews before I return.
We sat on the patio and the sun was shining directly in our eyes....we did ask to move to a different table that was empty but the waitress said she would be giving that table to someone else....umbrellas would help a lot to provide shade...the food was just ok but I had the ribs which came with potato salad....the ribs smothered in bbq sauce were put on top of the potato salad which was not a taste sensation at all....I wish restaurants would stop doing that....my husband had the fish and chips, again just ok...
Went to Pier 7 for a birthday celebration after hearing/reading mixed reviews. The upper deck was a wonderful way to spend the late afternoon and evening, the singer/guitarist was very good and the food was great. We had a variety of different food from truffle fries to salmon and everyone was pleased with their choices. Service staff were friendly and helpful...I/we will return.
It took an hour to get our food and the management was terrible. Our waitress was very nice and trying her best to accommodate us, though.
Really mediocre. Calamari was awful, salmon and halibut both completely over cooked. No atmosphere and had it not been for the half price wine (dined on a Wednesday) we would have complained. Really disappointing, and doesn’t at all live up to the reviews I have seen elsewhere.
Was NOT the experience we expected. Loud, children running around taking things off our table. On top of that almost every single food AND drink item we ordered they were “out of” that night. Not recommended.
The only issue we had was service was slow and from what we could see there really wasn't an explanation for it. Presentation, quality, price was very good no complaints there. I had indicated on the reservation that we were celebrating an 86th Birthday but it didn't get acknowledged. Not a big deal but would have been nice. Have frequented the restaurant many times and will again.
Three of the four of us had the Scallops and Shrimp main course. The quantities were small (3 scallops + 3 shrimp) considering the price. The scallops were over-cooked and chewy. Upon complaining the waitress brought two more scallops (to share between 3 persons!) and these were also over-cooked. We had to keep asking for things: cutlery, sugar (the waitress brought one sachet only!). On the plus side, service was very friendly, but that did not make up for the deficiencies.
Really good place near the ocean. We sat inside but they have an outside deck. Close to the Seabus and very accessible. Good variety of food and appetizers and drinks.
The food and atmosphere were great however the service was definitely lacking. The waitress just seemed disinterested in working and took a while to take our order and rarely came around to refill waters etc.
Lovely patio for spectacular views of downtown Vancouver skyline. We had managed to be seated outside on the patio even though our reservation was for a window restaurant table as a patio table just became available.
Service was friendly, however the server did not check with us after the initial perfunctory followup. It wasn't so busy that we couldn't get her attention.
We ordered the Prawn Cocktail & Tuna Tataki from the appetizer and 1/2 Litre of wine. Portions were a bit small. We did not order any more food as we were expecting to eat dinner elsewhere in a short while and this visit was anticipated to be more of a snack as opposed to a lunch.
