Pier 500 Ratings and Reviews
I travel quite a bit with a large international firm and it is always a challenge finding good local restaurants. The menu found on the web page of Pier 500 lured us in. We could not have been more pleased. The food, atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff was outstanding. Unfortunately, it was cold and snowing so we could not take advantage of the awesome outside seating that overlooks 1st Street and the St. Croix river. But the open fire place inside kept us nice and cozy. Even if you are staying in Minneapolis / St. Paul, the drive to Hudson, WI will be well worth the effort. Simple put...Outstanding.
The Grilled Meatloaf and Lobster Macaroni and cheese were divine.... Rich, decadent, satisfying and substantial. Our server Kerstin was on top of it, everything was taken care of in a significantly above average way. Pleasant atmosphere, clean and welcoming, not too noisy. Comfortable seating. I will be back and share this restaurant with others.
Nice selection, variety but not too much to choose from. Good table presence by waitstaff and management. Food was tasty and timely. French onion soup was fantastic! Only blip was that I wasn’t informed that this soup was an extra charge with my meal. It was offered as a substitute for the soup of the day. Maybe I should have guessed or asked that. Really good soup though, next time I’m going just for the soup!
One word...AMAZING! This restaurant was recommended from a store owner in Stillwater. We happen to have chosen to visit Stillwater during the “Harvest Fest”. (We had no idea) We originally planned on a local restaurant there, but upon arrival knew we would never get in. Everything was amazing!
I made reservations to take my best friend here for his birthday dinner after hiking Willow River State Park. I made reservations so we were seated immediately upon arrival. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, the service was quick, food was great and we even received a complimentary birthday sundae. It was raining so we could not eat outside but we would definitely go back again.
My mother went here for her birthday. She was very pleased with her food even though she thought it was a little expensive. The server steered her towards the lobster bisque as it was a special and was just as good as the French onion soup that she loves from here. The only thing I was disappointed with is when I made the reservation is that I put it was her birthday in two different places and they didn’t acknowledge it.
Requested a booth via OpenTable app, well enough in advance, but instead we were seated in a small table next to the kitchen. I asked the hostess to check the reservation, but she said they couldn’t accommodate me. I found this curious, because there were many booths with only two people, so this wasn’t an unreasonable request. Food was decent, but menu seemed quite limited over past experiences here. Can’t say anything stood out, but I’ve had great experiences here for holiday buffets!
I've gone here on a few special occasions and the food has been extremely good every time. The sides they give are equally as wonderful as the main part of your entree. If you don't know what to get the rotisserie chicken is always good and you get a lot. The price is on the higher end but it's well worth it to get here at least a few times a year.
Six of us dined on a Friday evening in September. We were in town for a wedding and this was our first visit to Hudson. So glad we had reservations as the place was packed. Downtown Hudson is also very busy with the restaurant and bar crowd. Even though there is a parking lot next to the restaurant and quite a bit of free street parking , it was tough finding a spot. We liked Pier 500 very much. Friendly staff, excellent service, good food, pleasant environment, excellent value.
The food is always good. I love the wood-fired chicken. The wait staff is well-trained and
friendly. During the day the patio is a great option. The noise level for seniors can be a problem.
Be sure to ask for a booth it makes it much easier to hear each other.
Food has really gone downhill, we came in for brunch and HATE that you changed the brunch buffet, one reason we liked going there is because the family style brunch.
So we ordered from the normal brunch menu.
The service was VERY slow and for the price you received for the meals was not worth the price.
Probaly will not be back, defently sad as this was one of our favorites.
This was my second visit and I would not hesitate to return or recommend it to a friend. The angel hair pasta is excellent with the right amount of spice and texture. We were a party of four with nothing but praise for the food and the service. I was concerned at first about noise when we were seated across from the kitchen but it turned out to be a non-issue and we had no trouble with our own conversations. I would go more often if the prices were not on the high side but it makes for a special connection at especial times.
This place is Exceptional! It is very nice and the service is exceptional! The menus is great with fantastic Food! I would highly recommend for any outing such as a date, a friend meeating or a gathering of a group. This place is top notch and second to none!
