Pier 500 Ratings and Reviews
My friends and I went here for one of my friends birthdays. Everything was great, the drinks, service and food. My only issue was the price of the food for what you got. Very Small portions, I still felt hungry after I was done with my meal. I had the scallops and they were to die for, just wish I had a little bit more, considering I spent $53 on just myself.
Our server was delightful and could not do enough for us. Acoustics are not great but we were seated in the most quiet spot available -my husband has some hearing loss - and we appreciated it. Prices are pretty steep but the food is delicious. Nice evening!
We’ve been coming there for a while now and have always loved it. We ordered the Gouda nachos for an appetizer which we’ve gotten several times. There was maybe 3or 4 pieces of small chicken on them. My husband ordered the prime rib which he’s also gotten several times and it was lacking in flavor and also his piece was well done versus medium which he requested. This was our first date out since have our 3rd baby 5 months ago so it was disappointing especially since we expected a great meal as this is usually our go to place.
I travel quite a bit with a large international firm and it is always a challenge finding good local restaurants. The menu found on the web page of Pier 500 lured us in. We could not have been more pleased. The food, atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff was outstanding. Unfortunately, it was cold and snowing so we could not take advantage of the awesome outside seating that overlooks 1st Street and the St. Croix river. But the open fire place inside kept us nice and cozy. Even if you are staying in Minneapolis / St. Paul, the drive to Hudson, WI will be well worth the effort. Simple put...Outstanding.
The Grilled Meatloaf and Lobster Macaroni and cheese were divine.... Rich, decadent, satisfying and substantial. Our server Kerstin was on top of it, everything was taken care of in a significantly above average way. Pleasant atmosphere, clean and welcoming, not too noisy. Comfortable seating. I will be back and share this restaurant with others.
Nice selection, variety but not too much to choose from. Good table presence by waitstaff and management. Food was tasty and timely. French onion soup was fantastic! Only blip was that I wasn’t informed that this soup was an extra charge with my meal. It was offered as a substitute for the soup of the day. Maybe I should have guessed or asked that. Really good soup though, next time I’m going just for the soup!
One word...AMAZING! This restaurant was recommended from a store owner in Stillwater. We happen to have chosen to visit Stillwater during the “Harvest Fest”. (We had no idea) We originally planned on a local restaurant there, but upon arrival knew we would never get in. Everything was amazing!
I made reservations to take my best friend here for his birthday dinner after hiking Willow River State Park. I made reservations so we were seated immediately upon arrival. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, the service was quick, food was great and we even received a complimentary birthday sundae. It was raining so we could not eat outside but we would definitely go back again.
My mother went here for her birthday. She was very pleased with her food even though she thought it was a little expensive. The server steered her towards the lobster bisque as it was a special and was just as good as the French onion soup that she loves from here. The only thing I was disappointed with is when I made the reservation is that I put it was her birthday in two different places and they didn’t acknowledge it.
Requested a booth via OpenTable app, well enough in advance, but instead we were seated in a small table next to the kitchen. I asked the hostess to check the reservation, but she said they couldn’t accommodate me. I found this curious, because there were many booths with only two people, so this wasn’t an unreasonable request. Food was decent, but menu seemed quite limited over past experiences here. Can’t say anything stood out, but I’ve had great experiences here for holiday buffets!
