We all enjoyed the all you can eat fish fry. The boiled and fried fish were both excellent. We loved the potato pancakes! The service was outstanding, wonderful view, great ambiance.
Great location. Staff attentive but a bit intrusive. Decor kitschy but with some great early photos in hallway.
Steak average and average value. Bluegill fish-fry touted but average.
My wife's meal was nothing like how it was described in the Menu. Food was very overpriced.
Over-priced for mediocre food. Not impressed. The atmosphere was good, but food, service and cost did not meet my expectations.
Food is overpriced for what you get. Service was good, had to send one dinner back because it was very fatty. Could tell just by looking at it.
We had a great time at this amazing place, great service, great food and excellent ambiance... will go back there again.. highly recommend...
Food was awful sent back cheese board and tuna tartar was fishy definitely not fresh. However the lobster was on special and it was good
Appreciate being able to choose between lunch or brunch menu on Sunday. Friendly service and helpful with menu choices. Want to go back and try the Friday Night Fish Fry!
We love Pier 290 and the food this time was fabulous and great knowledge of cocktails!
Enjoyed a lovely weekday lunch at this very attractive lakeside restaurant. Fireplaces in both the dining room and the bar area create a cozy, comfortable feeling. We had the Friday Fish Fry (or broiled) special served with fries (or potato pancakes), cole slaw (or applesauce) bread and butter and delicious brandy old fashioned drinks. We can't wait to return.
Wonderful atmosphere and great food. Service was very good!
Very good. Will be back.
I found the clam chowder to be watery and over seasoned. I did not eat it and the waitress did take it off the bill, which I thought was great customer service. I had the tiger shrimp which were very tasty. The atmosphere was great. I really enjoyed the old photos in the hallway.
Pier 290 is a wonderful dining destination you have to experience. It is located on beautiful Lake Geneva in Williams Bay Wi, also home to Gage Marine. The restaurant is decorated with many antique nautical piece and the view is Second to none. finally, the reason to go there is the food and drink, which is superb to say the least. During the summer you can dine outside or inside. This is a must do if you are in the Lake Geneva area, consider a reservation at busy times !!!
Amazing diner, top quality ingredients resulted in an amazing meal. Dan, our waiter, was attentive without being intrusive. Great dining experience!
A culinary experience your taste buds won't forget! Carefully hand crafted food that explodes with unique flavors. Definitely my top restaurant in the area (Rock & Walworth counties). Atmosphere and lakeside dining is an added bonus!
This is a go-to restaurant for me. It's a bit of drive from home (Woodstock, IL) but is like going away for a mini-vacation. This time we were entertained by 2 eagles - yes, EAGLES - swooping and fishing and landing to lunch on the ice in sight, then fly within 30 feet of the windows to their nest nearby. The food is outstanding and as locally sourced as possible. The prices are a little high, but for the experience, food, service and ambience, well worth it. I lost a bracelet (fairly valuable and to me priceless for memory) which when I called to see if it was here, had been turned in by the worker who found it and was ready for me to come back and pick-up when I could. Honor, ethics and morals are wonderful things to see and experience. Thank you Pier 290! They never told me the worker's name so I could personally thank them, but I left them an envelope thank-u.
I was very disappointed that our reservation wasn't honored, even though we did speak with someone that afternoon to confirm. We were seated in the back area with the plastic sheets and luckily were by the fireplace. We enjoyed our meal and the evening but the ambiance was not nearly as nice as the main dining room.
Great for a family night out for dinner. Staff very friendly and attentive; including the Manager that night. Stopped by our table and was very pleasant.
Came to town for the Winterfest. Loved our experience at Pier 290 and will be back! Food was delicious.
Fantastic food and service. Don't miss out on the "brunch burger".....amazing! View of the lake is gorgeous, even in winter.
Wonderful. Such attention to detail. Beautiful room & table. Great bar and live music.
Great food and the service was great as always!
Our second visit to Pier 290. Date had lobster mac and I had the Beef Stroganoff. Somehow my dish had a large potato in it. Not sure how. Just average food. View great service great. There seems to be an official "children's section" to the far left in the main dining room. Second time we have had screaming kids during the entire meal - even though we were on the other side of the restaurant it is still annoying to let your kid carry on like that. As the mom of 4 there are solutions. Bar is always busy here and this was a winter visit - summer is quite different - very busy. Location here will always draw people in, but better food would seal the deal for return diners.
I have eaten at Pier 290 4 or 5 times and I am never disappointed. The food is always hot, tasty, and creative; the services is excellent; the drinks don't put you on your face, but they are well-crafted so you don't have to Uber it home. I try to have a different entrée every time I go. We brought a couple friends with us who were also impressed. I will keep coming as long as the quality stays as it is...excellent on all fronts.
Went on New Years Day for the Polar Plunge it was very fun and the restaurant is very nice bar area too!!
New Years Eve 2017. Good food and service as always. Only hitch was when we arrived we were seated in a tent like area with heaters for warmth . Unfortunately with a temperature of -3 degrees and a steady wind of 5 mph people were eating with their coats on. We asked to be moved inside and after a few minutes we had a high top table Inn the bar area. I was disappointed that when we made the reservation we would have been told about the possibility of the seating arrangement.
Dinner was delicious and the booths are very comfortable! My steak was perfectly cooked, veggies savory and wine excellent.
I know it is very very cold outside, but it was also a bit chilly inside. We were hoping the fireplace in the dining area would've been working. We did receive a very acceptable explanation of why it wasn't on though and understand the circumstances. We did, however, enjoy the fireplace near the bar area - that was very enjoyable, cozy, and liked the seating available. This was our first time here and we would definitely come back again. Our server was very helpful and friendly with a great personality also. The food was good and your restaurant was clean and welcoming! Thank you!
My Birthday at Pier 290 was perfect in every way. Food, ambiance, service, the view of the lake and best of all my good friends joining me.
The chicken pot pie seemed to be the winner although the beer cheese soup was excellent as well. Not too heavy, just right.
They let us bring our own cake which was a nice touch.
My husband and I love coming to Pier 290. It is attractive inside, and the food and service are great. The bar is fun with live music--great atmosphere! Keep up the good work.
Mediocre to say the least. We have been going to Pier 290 for a few years now . To begin with we were impressed with the view ,the food and staff . Last night was the last straw of progressively LESS of everything . We were seated in the outside dinning area with plastic walls and a roaring fire ( the dinning room was empty?). The fire was beautiful but so hot that both my white wine and water were warm . The food was beyond ordinary for $150 for two with 4 drinks . The presentation looked like ‘ school dinners ‘ and the service was nonchalant. Buck up Pier 290 you have lost the plot and become arrogant and sloppy .
It's been over a year since we last dined at Pier 290 because the food wasn't very good for the price point, but we always loved the atmosphere and location. I'm pleased to say that this visit our food was excellent. Every item was delicious. We'll be back again soon!
We arrived 30 mins early and said we'd be at the bar for pre-dinner cocktails. The hostess confirmed we were 'checked in' but when we went to be seated for dinner, they had given our table away and were told it would be a 45-min wait. No apology, no explanation.
The food was surprisingly good and it was great fun to listen to the band in the bar after dinner.
The location is wonderful - right on beautiful Lake Geneva with a beautiful view. The seafood my wife and I ordered was about as awfully prepared as it could be. My son's hamburger was good and my daughter's mac and cheese was what would be expected. Service was good. We may have made a mistake ordering seafood. They have a nice selection of beef - they may be better at that. They clearly need a new chef that can cook seafood. The other disappointment is the absence of the boat in the sand box that use to delight my kids. They have removed it -
not sure why - but it something needs to replace - it is an eyesore presently. It is just a bunch of sand with the remnants of what must have been the concrete foundation for the boat. They have put up a metal ring toss game - but barely uses any of the space. They need to get someone with some imagination to replace the area with something. If the removal was just to discourage parents from bringing kids - expand the bar to replace the "sand box." In summary, my recommendation would be to just go there for drinks and maybe a burger unless you know something I do not know. I would also go if you know that they have hired a new chef. 2000 words is a lot - I am about to give up - I will try to one. I do not think I can. They need to reduce the number if they really want people to do this. Final thoughts - talk a walk on the Lake Geneva path - if you want burger, beer, or even a martini - stop in otherwise keep going.
While the food and the outdoor setting was a delightful as usual there were some bothersome wasps around this time. That, however, would not deter us from returning. We love this place!
Lovely setting and good service.
The reservation process was simple. The table was ready and the server was very attentive. The food came quickly and was great.
We went by boat, the last warm Friday night. Too bad the lights were already off on the piers. We couldn't see the seagull droppings.
I had heard so many good things about dining here . Sadly, that wasn’t my experience . The waitress messed up my order which I know happens . But then she brought back ice cold chicken clearly they pre cook the food because it was cooked all the way through but it was cold . There were four of us and it seems the fish was right in target cooked to perfection but the two of us who ordered non fish dinners had less than quality meals . We did the mousse dessert and that was good .
