sat for over an hour before food was served, server didn't seem to care. better food at long John silver.
The chefs seem to know what they are doing. The lobster bisque, made from scratch that day, was rich and hearty. Batter fried haddock and potato pancakes were seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Seafood scampi had one scallop in it and 3 pieces of shrimp
I like Pier 106. This was our second visit in a month, both for pre-theatre meals.
We happened to have Dave as our waiter both times and he was excellent, kept an eye on curtain time for us but we weren't rushed...perfect.
My bride really likes the prime rib sandwich (both times), seafood gumbo was great. We all like the homemade ships. I had the grilled salmon sandwich, unfortunately way too salty with the seasoning. I would have sent it back if not for out theater timing and I'm sure they could have fixed that. Otherwise a really nice place and I like the river view.
I have been to Pier 106 about 5 times before, it's very convent for before or after play and concert dining. This time was New Years Eve but early at 5:15 after a 2:30 concert so it was not busy as of yet. I brought a group of 7 and after reading many of the bad reviews I was worried. None of the bad experiences were anything I had ever experienced. Fortunately everything was as good as the last 5 visits. Fast, friendly service. As we were seated one of our group, that is allergic to dairy, asked the hostess about dairy free and she said she did not know but would check, which she did immediately and came back saying the the chief would prepare most any dish substituting other ingredients or toppings. Even with a group of 7 they did not add a tip to the bill and gave us happy hour prices even though it was not a weekday. The walleye sandwich was good, 2 of the group said the beef short ribs were great. One of the group, that has been there before, always orders the salmon BLT. On the down side the person that had the seafood linguini said it could have been warmer and would have liked more sauce. The calamari did seem tough but the cheese curds were good. We will be back when we are downtown for the next performance.
Good foods and friendly staff. Within walking distance from REP
Cozy and warm on a very Arctic night. Overall great food and service. We came here after a show at the Bradley Center so we were in no rush. Dayton, our server was prompt and courteous. We waited just a little longer than we should have for our appetizer but the cheese curds were delicious once they arrived. Lobster Mac and cheese was delicious, Wisconsin burger just right, scallops were amazing, and the walleye excellent. We look forward to returning and will recommend anytime.
Loved the location and decor. Right on the Milwaukee River. Too cold to sit outside but inside there is a fireplace that made it cozy for a cold winter evening. The bar staff was very friendly and the cocktails delicious!
We went on a Friday night to try the fish fry, but the short ribs were calling to me. The fish fry was very good with a very nice batter. The french fries were seasoned very nicely. But, the short ribs were amazing. They fell apart and had a rich sauce. The shrimp and crab fundido was outstanding too. Nice atmosphere and great location if you are catching a show after dinner.
The food was very good. Our waitress was OUTSTANDING! Very helpful and honest with her opinions on the food and beverage selections. Will definitely go back to Pier 106.
