can't recommend that restaurant, even though it is one of my favorites that was on open table, as it no longer is in business. I am very disappointed that you didn't know that it had closed. We went there during restaurant week with friends and it is now another restaurant. Fortunately we found another restaurant on the street that could take us on short notice. You may want to check it out.
Was extremely disappointed! Arrived on time at restaurant to find out it is now a Mexican restaurant - Dos Rosas. No forewarning at all. Was forced to look for another restaurant on a moment's notice w/o a reservation. Was lucky enough to barely make it to the next restaurant. Not my idea of a fun evening! Please update your records! The new owners should have called us to let us know it changed management & cuisine.
Nice BYOB in old city. Food was tapas style and excellent but a little pricey. The chicken is very good and can feed a party of 4. Duck, soft shell crabs, and tomato salad were tops. Good noise level so conversation was easy. Definitely recommended.
This was my second time dining at Bistro 7. The first time, in the winter, I liked it. The second time, in the summer, I loved it. The food was very interesting, very creative, and very good. The fried foods like soft shell crab and stuffed squash blossoms somehow remained ethereally light and not greasy. All the seafood and a wonderful spring vegetable salad were impeccably fresh. We went on a Tuesday night, and the restaurant was very quiet. I imagine the hard surfaces would make for a noisy experience if it were crowded. I'm a little worried about telling everyone about this terrific restaurant because I don't want it to be mobbed, but then I want them to survive too. You should try it.
My scallops were covered with too much salt and I could not taste the sweet flavor of the scallop, My first course of asparagus was over done with with two cheeses.
We had a wonderful meal. Knowledgeable staff, delicious food, good times had by all.
Every dish we had was really outstanding. The appetizers were great and my husband is still raving about the fried portion of the chicken.
The "small" plates were very imaginative and made for a very interesting, gourmet meal.
Great food. Lovely service. We shared the branzino. I judge restaurants by if I would cook it as well at home . I am an experienced cook, so I believe that is saying something.I would not have bothered to do the work at home on this one. Some things are cooked more easily with a staff. We would come again everything we had was excellent.
Great creative food and relaxing, friendly service,
Fabulous creative, fresh and expertly prepared and presented small plates (which weren't so small). Don't miss the large plate chicken which was sensational! A fantastic find and BYOB too.
Amazing experience with the talented Michael O'Halloran! Best restaurant in the city.
Never disappoints. We always know that we will have a great meal at Bistro 7. You know it's good when your dining companion rolls their eyes after the first bite!
Excellent. Terrific food. Uniquely prepared.
Delicious small plates. Nice variety. Really flavorful. Service was perfect. Great experience-will be going back! PS-Try the oysters!
While the menu may have been shorter on choices than other restaurants, there was no disappointment in the amount of flavor and detail in the dishes served. The whole chicken was beyond ample for our party of two and was so delicious. The salsify was like butter, and the bread served was cake like ..a meal in itself. Would surely go back.
We were very pleased with the inventive food in a low key BYOB setting. I think the room would be very loud if it were full, but mercifully they were not busy the night we were there. We definitely plan to return often.
I love byobs and small plates. But the plates varied too widely from very good to one that was terrible.
Noise level was horrible. They must do something about it. Prevents conversation...even though they did not play loud music. (which would have been worse).
The very good: gnocchi, tuna, lamb meatballs, mushroom mille feuille (which only had two feuille (sheets but the flavor was great.
Disappointing the duck breast (flavor was fine but a tad overcooked)
Horrific: The desert choc. cremeux. tasted like a lump of canned icing; cold, flavorless, clawing. Stunningly bad for an upscale place. Worse than a tasty cake.
I would be willing to try it again if they hired a noise suppression team. Hanging rugs and hundreds of things known to modern architects. Such promise by a creative chef ruined by stuff they can correct.
Really enjoyed the Parisian gnocchi (our favorite!) & lamb meatball tapas ... however, the Mediterranean branzino entree was just ok.
What a treat to finally try this lovely BYO - absolutely delicious, fresh, inventive dishes with lovely unfussy serivce. Perfect, if a bit pricey, for a foodie treat.
Each dish had its own unique twist on classic dish. Small plates were excellent, the whole bronzino was fantastic and more than enough for two, and each of the desserts were perfect.
Always fine food, and the switch to the small-plate format is a definite enhancement.
With the "NEW" Bistro 7 Chef Michael has made many changes, from the decor to the service and most important the food. The cuisine from traditional but boring the way it was is now modern exciting and very good.
Prices are not cheap but the experience is worth it.
Great food in a very relaxed atmosphere. It wasn't busy on this very rainy night so we took the opportunity to sit and enjoy while celebrating my wife's birthday. Very welcoming and very accommodating service without being intrusive. While the branzino sounded enticing, we shared six small plates rather than getting entrees so that enabled us to sample a wide variety of dishes. Everything we tried was very flavorful and unique, starting with the beet salad and gnocchi followed by ahi tuna and escargot stew (especially interesting!) then scallops and tea smoked duck. And, plenty of fresh, soft warm bread to sop up the sauces! They even served our shared rice pudding dessert with a candle for the birthday girl. Highly recommend!
The flavors, textures, and freshness of the food were excellent. Two of us ended up having four appetizers, which were all excellent: beef tartare, tuna tartare, a mushroom dish, and a lovely beet salad. Each dish was fabulous. I was at Bistro 7 a few weeks ago and shared the big dinner of chicken prepared two ways. That was also wonderful and resulted in not only dinner, but two lunches. We will return!!
Always a great meal!! Excellent and speedy service.
Delicious tapas or small plates which we shared. I recommend the tuna, beef tartar, scallops, oysters.
Mostly small plates but I knew going there. Two of the 6 we ordered were too spicy for me. I should have asked. Still I had enough to eat and even brought some hme.
Never disappointed at Bistro 7. Changed the menu to small plates which let us taste more and everything was excellent. Had the foie gras creme brulee, tea smoked duck, and the lamb meatballs. All terrific and plenty to eat for 2 prior to the theater. Topped it off with the chocolate malted cremeux that tasted like a pot de creme. We are chocolate lovers and this was the perfect end to a fabulous meal. We will be back.
Enjoyed the variety and sophistication of the small dishes. Great service by Michael. We had a an early meal, so we got a great table. Sometimes it's a little cramped close to the door, but the food is very well prepared and served.
Food was very yummy (especially the bread and the duck) and the place had a great ambiance! Definitely very small plates though and so if you're really hungry and trying not to spend a ton of money, might not be the best place
The food was amazing!!! We loved everything that we had. Just perfect!
One of my favorite restaurants. The food is always outstanding,
I can't say enough good things about this BYO.
Try it - I know you will agree.
Absolutely fabulous food and service. Incredibly creative menu is
As always, the preparation was excellent. They blend flavors in unique ways that work well together. Some places add "one ingredient too many." Not here. I have eaten here many times. Good to have food prepared at least as well as we do at home
We wanted to get to Bistro 7 before Restaurant Week was over. We have eaten there before so we were looking forward to going and we weren't disappointed. We had 4 courses fro $35 which was a great deal. I was there with my wife and her sister. Everyone was very happy with their choices. the food was outstanding and the service was great! We were very happy to get to Bistro 7 before Restaurant Week ended and we will go back again.
Went here for restaurant week. I know the portions would be smaller than the regular menu, but my partner and I came hungry and left hungry.
The food itself was okay. The liver mousse was good, but a bit pasty; the escargot was delicious; the gnocchi was excellent; the braised squid was overly salty; the pork belly was confused; the duck confit was good; dessert and coffee were great.
The service was wonderful and the restaurant itself is charming. I would come back if I knew for sure the food would be better, but at that price, I expect basic cooking skills to be better.
It was restaurant week so the menu was reduced but everything was good.
Bistro 7 is a popular place. We chose it on a Saturday evening, after a movie at the Ritz.
A choice, cheaper than the Fork, but in the neighborhood. Its BYOB. One chooses 6 plates, plus dessert. The food is interesting, creatively done, tasty. Although each dish was small, the overall effect was to feel very satisfied. A dessert comes with the plates, and despite the fact that I do not, in principle, like soft, gooey pudding things, loved the chocolate "mousse",
and the coconut, caramel puddingy dish. Upstairs room was nicely quiet, at first, but became livelier by the end. We had arrived around 6. Our waiter was very attentive, caring. A nice guy. (Did deliver one of our rounds of plates twice, but we didn't mind. He took them back.)
Decor is simple, white overall upstairs, and darker downstairs, where the action is livelier.
We'd choose it again, under similar circumstances.
The food was very good service was good I would go back . Only one thing happened which my husband was very upset about the chef came out and he was speaking to someone at the table right next to us and with the place being so small and intimate we were very close he almost could touch us but he didn't even speak to us didn't even ask if everything was ok or even how our meal was we put our coats on to leave he didn't say goodbye thank you for coming how was your meal nothingjb my husband thought that this was very rude so for this reason we may not return ..my husband never does reviews but he knows that I do sometime and as soon as we got home he said don't forget to write the review he was still upset that the Chef/Owner never even acknowledged us standing right next to us and No the restaurant was not busy our reservation was for 5:30 PM and even when we were leaving they were still plenty of empty seats.
