The server waited to tell us they were out of two items in the menu until after we shared our desired items. It would’ve been helpful for them to be direct up front with items that were not available. The apple cinnamon bread was delicious though.

We only had appetizers so can’t speak to the full menu. Olives, bread, and the chips with white bean dip, German chocolate cake, and cocktails. Everything was good but the white bean dip was a little plain. Maybe needed a little acid. However the cocktails and remainder of the food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Very happy to go again.

Server had too many tables, service was slow. One of our meals was cold, asked to remove and they did. Disappointed but other visits were ok

Service was slow and there was a large loud family in the middle of the room. The children were relatively quiet compared to the adults. There was NO way to even have a conversation due to the noise level. Food and drinks were pretty good, but we couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Pickled FishResponded on February 18, 2023Greetings, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are so sorry there was a lot of noise. Unfortunately we only have one large community table. However, I am very glad you enjoyed your food and drinks. We do hope you will give us another chance in the future to provide you with a much quieter ambiance and great food, views and service!

Everything we ordered was delicious! We had dinner both nights we stayed at the Adrift. Thursday night we just walked in around 7:30. The musician performing was uber-talented, but the sound system was overpowering. We had the mushroom cassoulet (Yum!), oysters (Yum!) and the fish and chips (Yum!) Friday night we arrived before the music started, which improved our experience. We enjoyed the cocktails, (The cocktails, made from spirits distilled onsite, were amazing.) brought our own wine because the corkage fee was reasonable, and ordered the clams (Yum!), Brussel sprouts (Yum!), more oysters (Yum!) clam chowder (delish!) and the sable fish (outstanding!) The desserts (tapioca, coconut pudding with pineapple and the lavender lemon posset) topped off the meal perfectly. Our servers were attentive and pleasant and the Friday night sunset spectacular. We had heard there is a new chef and that he's good - we totally agree!

Not many vegan/vegetarian options. They ran out of some of the options on the menu so limited choices. They charge 20% fee before tip for "living wage" so it ends up being very expensive for Ok food but not fine dining. Not a good value.

Pickled FishResponded on January 13, 2023Greetings Susan, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am so sorry to hear the restaurant ran out of some of the vegan/vegetarian options we offer. We have actually taken off the added gratuity "living wage" since the 6th of January. Service and drinks were great. Food was OK. Nothing special about it and some of it was overdone like the brownie skillet (super dry and too much coconut on top) and the fries I ordered. I think a few modifications to your menu could make it even better. Live music was awesome. Overall good place.

Dear management, as a business owner myself, let me tell you... It doesn't matter how wonderful your location is or how tasty your dishes are when you have servers who completely ruin the experience. Just to get menus took forever and wouldn't happen if i didn't ask for them. The bartender had so much attitude and didn't really care much for our table, neither did the other slow moving server who I finally flagged to take our order good 15-20 mins win ( there were only 4 other tables). We felt most unwelcome in your place and never experienced such a hostility in a restaurant before. They both forgot our drink order. Twice. No apologies. Not a care in the world. While they were chatting up customers at the bar. THE AUDACITY you have charging 20% automatically for the worst service is beyond my comprehension. How dare you! And if you decide to do that, you need make sure the servers are trained and deserving of it. We didn't get even as much as thank you and good bye. Hands down the worst dining experience I have had in years.

I have mainly had positive experiences with Pickled Fish, this last visit was disappointing. It was my husband's birthday and I made a reservation for 5:30 pm and checked in around 5:20 pm. The hostess said she would seat us in 5 minutes. After 25 minutes past and she proceeded to seat another couple who hadn't even made a reservation, I interjected and she sat us at the table that had been open the entire time we waiting for seating. It took quite sometime to receive our water and drink order.

Kudos to the kitchen staff for putting together an excellent meal. All of our food was excellent. Unfortunately our service was not up to par. We had to ask to place our orders after waiting 20 minutes for our server. This was unfortunate timing, as it was our 18th anniversary. I have had friends tell me that they had good service previously. Maybe our server was new, or just having a bad day. The restaurant was not very busy there were only six other tables. I don't think we will be returning.

Pickled Fish brings some variety and creativity to Long Beach. Part of the menu, especially the appetizers, are somewhat unique. Most of the entrees, however, are fairly traditional, a burger, crab cakes, fish and chips. In other words, things you can get anywhere. I had the Elk sliders and the brussel sprout Caesar, both of which were good, though not fantastic. My sweet potato fries arrived burnt to a crisp the first time. The second go around, they were better, but very starchy and not up to par. The salad was very good. I had the charcuterie plate the next day and the meats and cheeses were excellent. Service was spotty. In summary, there is no place else in Long Beach or the neighboring towns where you will get a better meal (and certainly not better drinks). Pickled Fish is worth checking out if you are in the area.

Made reservations for one for Friday night, 8pm. Seated facing the ocean, or rather a window completely black with only my reflection. "Table" was more like a shelf attached to window ledge - great for drinks and watching daytime beach but not for an expensive evening meal. Food was fine, interesting and refreshing cocktail. Previous visit was stellar - nice little table, even service was better. Don't think I'll go again.

Looks like a trendy place that could be cool to hang out at. The service was good, but the food was bland, and received cold. The salmon was dry and overcooked and the pilaf was a mushy under seasoned mess. The view is pretty amazing, so if you want to check it out, just get a beer.

We were visiting Long Beach for a special occasion and Pickled Fish was a highlight! My only negative comment is that they were out of the first 3 things tried to order (at 7:30 on a Saturday - they said I picked popular items and it had been busy.) The food we did have has wonderful and the service was attentive and not pushy. Will go back and recommend to friends!

We had two delicious meals at Pickled Fish when we were in Long Beach celebrating our anniversary. Our dinner server told us right off which dishes they were out of..not a big deal. The next morning, our server didn't know the prices of a particular item, returned to our table after we ordered to let us know one of our selections was not available, then it took a good half hour for our brunch to arrive...on a Monday morning after 10 am. I would certainly go back, but the service was definitely off for brunch.

4 of us came to the Pickled fish for dinner on a weekday evening. The noise level was quite loud but bearable. We ordered dinner , our waitress was less than attentive , we had to wait for the wine and she needed a reminder, but the food was very good. Scallops were perfectly done , My lamb shank was delicious as was the crab cake and the steak dish. The band stared to play and it was impossible to have any conversation at all. I have been before and it is much more pleasant without the music !!! Sorry ..... but for those who come for that , enjoy. ! On the whole I would recommend this restaurant, the food is good and the view at sunset , stunning !

We just celebrated our 1st Anniversary at the Adrift, where we spent out "mini-moon." I waited all year to eat that Pickled Fish again, and they did not disappoint. In addition to the food, our server remembered us, and a dessert of our choosing was on the house. (Most restaurants have a specific dessert for occasions.) The view is incredible. The food fantastic-- the chef certainly has a specific vision. Always the steamer clams. This time around, we delighted in the yam burger, elk sliders, the market fish of the day, and the oysters. I appreciate that they list their purveyors, all local, especially as far as the clams and oysters are concerned. Note: They are taking less reservations and more walk-ins, which we only found out when we arrived. Also: $4 for more bread is too much, especially with the clams, which only comes with one--two?-- pieces of bread. Please consider. What a delightful restaurant with delightful people. Right up there with some of Seattle's and Portland's best.

We stayed at the motel attached to the Pickled Fish. Seemed convenient to eat right there. We agree with everyone that the view is awesome. We were seated in the window at a ledge type table looking right out at the beach. Only problem, it was lovely summer weather and the sun shone in mercilously. There are shades, but the kind you can see through. So we ate dinner in sunglasses. It was worth it. We both had salad and the oysters and chips. I must admit that I prefer Louisiana oysters, they are smaller and seem somehow less mushy. But they were tasty, and if you like them on the half shell, you'll enjoy these. We had beer. We would go back. The view is so nice.
