Piccolo's Ratings and Reviews
This place is truly a time warp experience. It reminded us of the 'old neighborhood' Italian decor and ambience wise. Don't be detured, embrace it. The food is AWESOME. Started by sharing a Margarita Pizza with anchovies, YUM. Then had one of the best veal porterhouse chops ever and my husband had Linguini with clams and mussels. The drinks are generous and service warm, friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this spot over its higher priced neighbors.
We've been enjoying Johnny Piccolo's cooking for ages and he never fails to please. If you want a Boston North End experience in Worcester, Piccolo's looks, tastes and feels like it. With so many Italian restaurants to choose from, it's always nice coming home!
I recently had a very important out of town customer visit our business and decided to reserve someplace other than our usual restaurants -and chose Piccolo's . I was really happy with my choice. The service was friendly and our waitress was really helpful and informative. The restaurant itself was really conducive to our business/ social dinner - the ambiance is nice and rather "old school", and the noise level actually allowed us to talk without raising our voices or cupping hands to ears! Best of all - the food was excellent, and even the one person who is gluten free found an excellent selection. I would strongly recommend Piccolo for anyone looking for a place to accommodate a moderately large dinner group or a small intimate one.
Once seated, waited a long time before anybody acknowledged us. Servers kept walking by us, no greeting, no water glasses, no offer to get us something from the bar. Are we invisible? Finally were able to order a glass of wine, my Sauvignon blanc from the wine list was out of of stock, ( the only one they offer by the glass). My husband ordered a merlot, but they brought him a different wine (of their choosing) because they were out of his selection too! If you don't have it - take it off the wine list and offer something else! Why not offer the alternate selection by the glass? Would it kill you to to open a bottle of something you don't normally sell by the glass?
Somebody else's app & salad were brought to our table. They left the salad with my husband as it was the same one he had ordered, but mine took another 10 minutes to arrive.
It was not an issue of being understaffed - the dining room was only 1/3 full on a Sat. Night.
The food was a step above the service, but by that time our expectations were not high. Will not be back.
My friends and I attend this fine establishment every year the first Friday of August . We have had the same smiling , grateful, and energetic waitress for the past three years. Very accommodating family style restaurant that will leave your stomach's full and satisfied. Great menu and perfect wine pairings. We will always feel as though you welcome to a great meal !!

The service was wonderful and attentive. However, the food fell below par. Of special note, one of our group requested a very plain pasta Alfredo with no garlic, pepper, or parsley. There was still a flavor in the sauce that didn't work for him, and as he has digestive issues, he suffered later. I didn't taste it. Perhaps it wasn't made from scratch, which should be a simple cream and butter sauce with some parmesan which he regularly orders with no problem. He ate less than a quarter of the portion, and while the server noticed that he didn't seem to enjoy his meal, there was nothing offered in exchange, other than to take the remainder home, which he declined. The rest of our meals were quite passable, desserts were very ordinary. This is not a restaurant I would revisit.
Our waitress was fabulous! She was very patient & guided us through the wine and food menus. It was the first time any of us dined at the restaurant and she made it a reason to come back. The restaurant also let us bring in a homemade cake to celebrate a friend's birthday. The staff even came out with the cake lit up & sang happy birthday. It made my friend's night.
We have dined at Piccolo's a few times now and always love it! Theresa was our server tonight (and the time before actually) and she always does a magnificent job. I found a new favorite wine tonight - the Gascon Malbec along with a new favorite pasta dish, Gamberi Juliana. My fiancé loved his meal too - veal but I can't remember the name... We love the food, ambience (music and lighting is always on point), and the service! Can't wait to go back!
Had a great experience at Piccolo's. The service was very good, we had a main server and she had help. We weren't rushed, she was attentive, kept water glasses filled, etc. We shared several dishes and they provided us with serving spoons - so often that doesn't happen and so that is why I am mentioning. There was a nice selection of dishes - Italian staples and several specials - everything was very well prepared. We ordered two different veal dishes. Delicious! Didn't take forever to prepare and arrived steaming hot. It was loud as other reviewers have said. There was a large table of 12 behind us and hard to talk over them. Adding table cloths would improve the experience. We are planning to return!
We made a reservation for a bachelorette night kickoff. The food was incredible, the service (Teresa) was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. It was great to meet Piccolo himself and enjoy the no-nonsense, wonderful ambiance. The value of the food here is unbeatable.
We were so pleasantly surprised with this little spot. Spent the day at WAM in Worcester, and decided to try something different. The service is great and the dishes were delicious, very very friendly and enjoyable. We will definitely go back! P.S... try the golden eggplant dish!
We walked in and were created and seated right away. The server was attentive and helpful with our selections. The stuffed mushrooms and calamari were fresh and tasty. Everyone's enter was excellent fro house made pastas to stuffed haddock. Desert was amazing and the bloody Mary's were just spicy enough! Overall a great experience on Mother's Day!
1st time trip incited by prior OT reviews. Not disappointed. Service was prompt and friendly. Food warm, plentiful and very tasty. Can't wait to finish the great pork special I tried but couldn't finish. Only disappointment was the 1st three bottles of wine we tried to order were all unavailable. We'll be back!
We love the food here and because of this we are regular diners. We feel it is best Italian on Shrewsbury St. Dined with two people who had never been and both said they would come back in a heart beat. If you care about great food and you are not fussy about high end atmosphere, you too will become a regular. Also, shout out to 4/13 dining room waitress for her exceptional service.
Piccolo's is one of our favorite restaurants. Every time we dine here, we leave with a "wow, that was amazing" feeling. They have a traditional Italian menu with all the staples and they also incorporate weekly specials (so good!). The specials are always unique and delicious! We already cannot wait to go back. Pro tip: veal parmesan is one of the best we've ever had. Finish your meal with a cup of coffee and the honey cake (made fresh), you will not be disappointed!
Piccolo's never disappoints. The standouts on this trip, starting with the apps, were the garlic bread served with amazing gorgonzola fondue and rolled zucchini, stuffed and baked with asiago and ricotta. The fresh mint dressing on the salad della case is excellent. For main dishes, we savored steak medallions that we could cut with a fork, served over linguine with caramelized onions and an incredible gorgonzola sauce, and ravioli stuffed with veal & ricotta. Heaven! The deserts are not to be believed. The carrot cake is indescribably good and the Snickers pie is a home run.
