Piccolo Trattoria - Pennington
Good food, good service
It’s been awhile since we have visited Piccolo Trattoria and it may be awhile before we go back. First, they could not locate our reservation (made through Open Table) but since they were not full they were able to seat us (before I needed to show the confirmation). The meals were Ok but not noteworthy in a competitive market. As one of our party commented “ How can an Italian restaurant screw up eggplant parmigiana? It’s a staple.” I had the Chicken Milanese which was average; our companions had pizza and a seafood dish; neither was hardly touched which tells it all. We were hopeful since we live nearby and like to support local businesses but it maybe awhile before we venture back. On the plus side; the rolls and service were good.
Huge quantities, great seafood!
I have visited there at least on 3 separate occasions.. 2 times with group for events, so I decided to bring my family, but to my surprise the service was much different , no bread was given to our table we had to ask for it. Our food was put in wrong, the wrong dish came to our table. I was so offended someone wrote the tip on my check as if I didn't know how to leave a tip and totaled out my check...I was a waitress and I'm very much aware if the group is larger than 6 ppl, the tip is 20%or above..I asked why was this on my check, I was told that the machine was broken which didn't make sense if the check was printed with a computer receipt..just the tip was hand written. So I replied to the waiter, I didn't appreciate it.and I tip well for good service but I will only give what you asked for in the form of the tip hand written.. although the food was awesome I'm not sure if I would recommend anyone to eat there due to the disrespect quality of service I received... Hope the staff are trained to conduct themselves better with the customers...
Great food, great service. Lamb Chop was outstanding!
On phone, so briefly: good calamari, weak side salad, great veal Marsala, very good chicken and shrimp in champagne tarragon sauce.
Made the reservation on Open Table due to the very good reviews and the resturant was not really what we expected. The interior is frayed and the dinning rooms too brightly lit. But the food was quite good and our server was really nice.
Most of the dishes we had were very over seasoned. Got 2 specials and the sauces were so strong you could not taste any of the other items on the plate
We had a group of 8. The waitress was attentive . Everyone’s meals arrived about the same time. Everything was hot and delicious
I made my reservation in OpenTable for 2 to try the Feast of 7 fishes traditional meal. We were sat right next to the kitchen/order window at a very small table. The space was barely enough to fit two place settings and entrees. There were wait staff and management coming by barely clearing the table while executing their orders. The food offerings are very tasty and the first couple of courses are plentiful. They did get smaller as the meal progressed. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. It wasn't the best I've had either.
One of the best Christmas Eve dinners we had. We are Italian and traditionally have our feast of 7 fishes every year at home. This year, due to circumstances beyond our control, we were not able to cook. Looked around on the internet for a restaurant that was serving our traditional food. That’s when I stumbled on your restaurant and booked it immediately! We had a large party and was afraid we could not be accommodated especially since it was close to Christmas. However they went above and beyond to help us and we were able to get a reservation for a time that fit our schedule perfectly! I think we have just created a new Christmas Eve tradition. Of course we plan to go back long before next Christmas Eve. Thank you for the great food, the great service and for allowing us to keep our tradition alive even if it wasn’t in our home.
Great food and service as usual
We love this restaurant. Everyone is so accommodating
Excellent service, food was great just a little salty for my taste but very good besides. Very nice BYOB place.
Wonderful food and the staff was exceptionally attentive to our additional requests.
There’s not a word I could use to speak negatively about this outlet, I’m truly impressed with the friendly service and the wonderful atmosphere, gonna make a special trip again!
I haven't been in for a sit-down meal here for a couple of years (pizzas can be very good). Pasta meal, though house-made, was simple and perhaps slightly above the average for a pizzeria that offers a fuller dining menu.
The food was not up to par from our previous visits.
Servers very attentive. Food average. Cannoli shells stale.
Wonderful food and unique Southern ambiance.
It was extremely noisy - they had a hard floor and part of the ceiling was noise reflecting. We chose this place because the other Italian restaurant we like is also noisy (and it does not take reservations, so sometimes there can be a long wait for a table). The food was excellent for a modestly priced restaurant. Our reservation was for 6:45pm. By the time we had finished, the place was much quieter. We wish we had delayed our visit until 8pm.
What a find this restaurant was, food was absolutely delicious! Service was great too! A win-win!
One of our guest attempted to order the Brooklyn pizza and was told it would be 45 minutes. Not sure why?! I ordered the fig pizza and it does not even compare to Marcellos. Someone else in our party ordered salmon and what was delivered was different from what was described – and it was very mediocre. Everything was just so so. We have no reason to return.
Excellent food served by a nice but bumbling waiter.
THE FOOD WAS AMAZING.. SO GOOD OUR SERVER WAS VERY KIND TO OUR GRANDAUGHTER ONLY WISH THE RESTAURANT HAD WINE MENUE
Great food...excellent service!
Great service and delicious and big sized entrees.
Food and service always good but it’s so loud when it’s busy that you can’t carry on a conversation.
While our servers were very accommodating, it seemed to take an hour to 45 minutes to serve us salads and our waitress kept getting lost leaving us to sit for almost 30 minutes before we could even order. The salads didn't come out as ordered so the waitress had to make accommodations or not adding the extras as ordered. We love Piccolo and would come back again but since we are on our lunch break we can't normally spend two hours at lunch and the slow service really made us late for work.
Family gettogether. Excellent ItaliN American food menu.
Always have a good meal there. Good for visiting with friends
Very nice veal dishes. Pasta was cooked very well. Service was a little rushed. We were one of three or four indoor tables. Outdoors seemed to be full, a few tables empty. After spending the day outside doing yard work, the last place I wanted to be was outside.
Food and service were excellent. Also enjoyed the outdoor seating.
We went with a party of 9 for Father's Day and the food was amazing. Not a single complaint from our large party about anything. Service was great. At the end of a strip mall, we weren't really sure what to expect, but they definitely over delivered!
Great food especially selection
Lovely outdoor patio
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Great food, atmosphere & service!
Food was great! Nice place to eat. Friendly staff.
Love this restaurant and food! It's a gem, located at the end of a strip mall, with outdoor tables and an ice cream shop and liquor store a few doors down. Great if you forget your bottle at this BYOB establishment. Staff friendly and always accommodates your needs. And food excellent. On the pricier side, so would be nice if soup/salad included with your entree to justify the cost. Was there Mother's Day and the restaurant was packed with larger family groups, so it was noisy and difficult to hear people at our table of 7. But, this was because of Mother's Day and the dining room being packed. Never disappointed when we go, and I highly recommend this restaurant!
We left the place utterly disappointed with everything on Mother’s Day.
