It’s ok for very casual dining. I am thinking stick with Pizza and Pasta. It’s not a place to fine authentic Italian. It’s very basic.
I just didn’t feel it. So many other local better places.
Once again, Piccolo Trattoria did not disappoint. Our family tends to choose this restaurant not only for many of our special occasions and celebrations, but for take-out as well. The dishes are very tasty and the service is good. There is a good selection of specials as well to pick from, which always makes choosing an entrée very difficult!! We have never had a bad meal here. Looking forward to our next visit to Piccolo!
For some reason, the restaurant was full to bursting. We had a waiter who had difficulty understanding my husbands order and then we waited for about an hour before our food was ready. This is not what usually happens when we dine there. As always, the food was excellent. When the dessert tray was offered at 8 pm, there was no selection left. Also unusual. I have no idea what was going on but something was definitely “off”.
Great Friday night casual dining.
Special seafood risotto was overpriced when compared with my expectations. This is still a suburban strip mall Italian restaurant that serves typical Italian food that one can find in any middle class suburb. Saturday night was busy and the service was poor. Hardly saw our waiter after he took our order.
I was very disappointed in our dining experience. Our waiter was new and completely unfamiliar with the menu and process of order taking and waiting on customers. We tried to work with him since we could see after a short while that his was new . Our disappointment is not with him but for the managing staff that left him on without guidance all on his own. Our night went from bad to worse when the we received the wrong entree and stale dessert cake 😟 And never got our salads that came with our entrees
Everything was spot on - great service, atmosphere, and the food was fresh and delicious! Best Vodka Rigatoni - lick your plate clean good!! Can't wait to visit again!
Always reliably good, and I like that soup or salad is included. Being a BYO is a huge draw for this place. When crowded, it's very loud. Always ask for the price of the specials, because they are 'specially' expensive, usually $10+ more than other stuff on the menu. If you sub out the pasta for a vegetable, such as spinach, be aware that there is an upcharge--around $3.50, I believe.
This restaurant is one of our 'go-to's.' Reliable, affordable, BYO, and very good food.
Service slow. Food tasty. Noisy and tables too close together
Always a good meal here. Gorgonzola and apple salad, warm focaccia bread, veal picatta, all delicious. Topped off with a cannoli and cappuccino, a great Valentines date night. My date got a rose to boot! Will you accept this rose?
We went to Piccola Trattoria for Valentine's Day. The food was excellent with very good service.
As much as I want to like this restaurant I just can't do it, it's amazing how busy it is considering the poor representation and preparation of the food, they misrepresented pasta as one kind when it was really another, the three people at the front never greeted our party, they were too busy correcting each other and never looked up once to say hello or even smile, they have been poorly trained , I understand that the owner and the "cooks" are not Italian (not even close to Italian) , that may explain why the food is not even close to being authentic, the meat was actually burned, way past overcooked, as I explained to a poorly English speaking waiter he did not "get it" and simply dismissed my concerns, we had two dishes at the table that were served this way, there are far too many better choices in this area, do not be fooled by the crowd, and forget about trying to talk to your party, it's so loud in this place especially with a "musician" playing , I have finally learned my lesson by never coming here again, it's just not worth it
Great local Friday night casual dining.
Zak was awesome! Food as always was delicious! Had the Gnocci's and they were so light and fluffy....you can tell they just made them. Piccolo house dressing is AMAZING and I always eat my whole salad.
Luncheon for a funeral
Another great dining experience at Piccollo in Newtown. We shared the fettucine alfredo and a Brooklyn pizza. Both were excellent!! Brian was our waiter (we requested him because he is the best).
My hubby and i dine there ofter over the years! Always a great meal!
As always we love it here. Excellent food. the wait staff is outstanding!!!
Great food. Personnel friendly from the moment you walk in the door. Christine is a gem of a server.. She knows what we like. Conscientious, sweet and friendly.
Excellent food and service!
Food is outstanding and they were able to serve me gluten free food
Great food and great service!
Best in the local area for casual Italian-American dining.
We had reservation for New Year's eve, table was ready on time, food was delicious and service was excellent. Highly recommend.
The meal was awesome. Food outstanding but service was a little slow.
Not a good dining experience. Food was poor, cold and overpriced.
The food was very good and extremely large portions. The waitstaff was friendly and very efficient. Would go again.
My friends and our husbands were doing a belated Christmas get together.
The food was outstanding and the service was as well.
My husband ordered the veal chop special as did one of the other guests, I had the stuffed shrimp. Everything was so perfectly cooked and we all either finished our dishes or took home the leftovers. No one was leaving anything behind, cause it was so yummy.
When you can please 8 people ( two owned a restaurant for 25 years) you are doing something right.
I had been to this restaurant for almost a year, and for the life of me, I cannot explain why. I will definitely be back much sooner.
Planned Christmas Eve dinner with my family, made reservations weeks in advance and the hostess had a hard time finding reservation. I pulled my phone to show her the confirmation as she rolled her eyes. She walked us over to the worst table in the place right next to the kitchen door. I knew we were in for a long night. Service was horrible, they seemed to focus on two large parties and we were ignored. Our waiter was invisible for most of the night. All the meals were fine except for mine. I ordered Chicken Marsala which was slapped on the plate and presentation was poor. I wanted to send it back but our waiter was MIA and asked the bus help for service but he disappeared. I ate about half of the meal when the waiter finally reappeared, asked me if I wanted to take home the rest of my meal. Nope....wouldn't give this to my dog! I know Christmas Eve is a busy night but no excuse for poor service and poor food preparation. This is the second time I've had a bad experience and I'm done with this place.
This is the 3rd or 4th year in a row that we've celebrated Christmas Eve at Piccolo's. We love the food and the live music is a nice addition to the holiday. Made for a wonderful family celebration.
7:15 reservation but didn’t get seated till 8:15. Hostesses don’t know how to plan for table of 6 people.
Worst service, waitress told us dinner was running late due to a large party but it would be ready soon. She swung by again 10 mins after and said the same thing. Then she swung by a third time and said all was ready and it would be out in 3 mins....20 moms later dinner arrived; we were there for 1 and a half hours before our dinner was served. Why would they just tell us the truth the first time and comp us a meal vs hide the truth and keep apologizing.....horrible way to handle customers. Sad part is we like the place and the food....
Food took 1 hour and 40 minutes to get to the table, our salads took 40 minutes alone and the food was below average at best
Our office had a fabulous holiday lunch! They had no problem seating 12 of us. Food was fantastic and same with the service! Can't wait to go back again!!
We had a great time at this small byob. We brought a bottle of wine , there was no cork fee. I got the special which was lobster ravioli with jumbo lump crab and colossal shrimp, my girlfriend got the chicken parm (which was huge!) both great value. We enjoyed our time and would go back. The only complaint I would say was the dessert selection. All the options came out on a tray, there were about 10 different cakes, and one coconut ball Pastry. That’s it. No true selection
Service excellent. Food done to perfection.
Their salmon dishes are legendary! Highly recommend it!
Great food and good service as always. A favorite of ours.
Great neighborhood place. Family-oriented service. Great, authentic food. We were three generations that all happily overate.
Friday night neighborhood comfort dining. Good stuff.
