Piccolo Trattoria - Newtown Ratings and Reviews
The food was ok but the service was just horrendous! After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes for a waiter to come to our table and rudely ask,"what do you guys want?" No hello or welcome or even telling us about the specials. We probably should have gotten up and left right then. It was the most awkward dining experience I've had due to this waiters rudeness which continued throughout the dining experience not to mentions long delays in receiving food and two sodas. It ruined what was supposed to be a nice evening out for my husband and I.
This is a "go-to" place for us. The food is excellent and reliable. My husband is a paleo eater, and there is plenty to order that is not pasta. We like that salads are included and especially LOVE that it is a BYO. It can be quite noisy, so it's not good for a large group. A good local gem.
Food was very good however it took 2.5 hours. Our waiter, Zach, was very nice and apologetic but the food was very slow coming out of the kitchen. He said it was a rare occurrence as they weren't prepared for such a large volume of people. The place is loud with lots of echoing but the food quality and quantity was very good. Worth another try for sure.
Another nice dinner at Piccollo Trattoria.
My husband and I dine here at least once a month. We always request Brian because he is a very good waiter. He is very attentive.
We had the fettuccine Alfredo and the eggplant parmigiana. They were both excellent dishes, but it seems like the portions are getting a little smaller.
The house dressing for the salad is very good.
I have eaten here a few times and the food has been "okay". We chose Piccolo Trattoria this time because it could accommodate a large party for my birthday. We were very disappointed.
I had to send back my veal parm because the coating was burnt to a crisp. I can't believe they served it to me that way! It was the same for another member of the party who had eggplant parm, but she ate it anyway. Two others who ordered a pasta dish with a chicken add-on found about 3 tiny pieces of chicken on their plate, hiding among the pasta. That's all - for an add-on price of $6!
Disgusted by our entrees, we didn't even consider ordering coffee or dessert. It is unlikely I will return. A disappointing birthday dinner for sure!
The food was excellent. I got a chicken dish. Something Vita? I forget. Thin, perfectly cooked chicken with layers of eggplant, mozzerlla, and prosciutto over Angel hair pasta. Smothered in red sauce. Delightful. It was more than I could eat. Service was excellent, too. We'll definitely return.
When we arrived they were unable to find my reservation. The hostess was able to seat us but table was for 4, and we had party of five, 3 kids had to share a portion of a booth and were squeezed together . We were seated in back of restaurant near kitchen, there was significant traffic and area was very loud. The food was exceptional but did take a long time to come out. Our waiter was prompt for service when we sat but seemed to disappear when we were ready to wrap up and go.
