Piccolo Trattoria - Newtown
Had a great meal last night dining at the trattoria! Cant wait to come back!
Quiet night with great comfort food.
Food was delicious and plentiful. The restaurant was full so it was quite noisy and servicer was a little slow and forgetful but still a worthy meal and location.
We usually like Piccolo Trattoria but this past Saturday night was disappointing. We had asked for a quiet table but once we arrived it was clear that would not be possible. It was incredibly loud. The food was quite good, as it usually is. The service, however , was not good. It took a very long time to have our wine (that we brought) opened and to receive wine glasses. The server did the best he could but it took over an hour for our main dishes to come out. We were a party of 6 but a party of two that came quite some time after us were served well before us. We weren't forgotten about because the server stopped by from time to time to see how we were. By the time it was dessert time, it was too late for us to think about it... We will try it again sometime in the near future.
Food was good, but it was so noisy! You had to talk very loud! The tables are very close together, so you’re actually sitting with strangers.
Delicious food (especially the octopus), wonderful waiter. A bit noisy, but hard to expect otherwise: it was Saturday night and the place was crowded. Would certainly return.
First time dining here and couldn't be happier. The food was great quality and a fantastic value. Make sure you leave room for the peanut butter bomb cake. Or at least get one to go. Brian was a phenomenal waiter and provided great recommendations. Will be going back.
Great food. Great service.
Brooklyn pizza is incredible. Pastas are amazing.
Place is a mess. We arrived Friday night for a 7:15 pm reservation via Opentable Over 20 parties in line ... all with reservations and .... not an empty table in the whole place . Obviously no concern for customers STAY AWAY !
The food and service at the restaurant are excellent. HOWEVER, the tables are too closely jammed in and the noise level was unbearable. We could not hear the people sitting across from us. It was a Saturday night at 7:30pm--probably the busiest time. We were also bumped into more times than we can count, especially by the harried staff.
Too many tables are jammed into a small space
Great food and good atmosphere. Favorite restaurant in Newtown. The balsamic salad dressing is amazing and they sell it to go. I could eat the Spring Mix Salad with Salmon every day!
Great meal and world class service from Brian our waiter.
Very nice casual place. Our table for 2 was a little congested, just because of all the items on it, such as bread, bread plates, salt, pepper, water, drinks etc. We just put the bread on the empty table next to us, and everything was fine. The wait staff was very friendly, the food was nicely proportioned, and while the restaurant was packed for the Valentines weekend, the noise level wasn’t even noticeable. We got a free cannoli through the Yelp app, which really was a nice touch.
We’ve been to the restaurant many times and have always been pleased overall. This was our first time there for a special menu evening (Valentines Day). The food was not up to the usual standards (stale bread, food served cold) but even worse was that they added about 10 extra tables to what is already a fairly crowded restaurant. We felt claustrophobic the entire time, no privacy at all - a really bad idea despite the owner telling us he had to do it to take advantage of the holiday to make extra money. Unfortunately we will not be going back for a while.
Valentines Day— very nice special menu. Food was excellent and no pressure to get us to eat and leave
Had a reservation for two on Valentines Day. Seated immediately. Place was packed due to Valentines being a Friday night. Service was prompt and food came out quickly. Meals (strip steak and chicken parm) were HUGE, very good value as we always like to take some home. Only complaint was the calamari; again a huge plate but they weren’t particularly good and they may have been from frozen. Desserts were great and a varied selection. Overall a very good meal and we were delightfully surprised. It’s in a strip mall but once you look past that, it was a very nice meal with my wife.
Excellent staff! Great food family run! Love this restaurant!
Should have known that Valentine’s Day is up there with New Year’s Eve as days you don’t go out to eat place was decorated well and servers were doing what they could but they crammed every one in to 2 person tables with at most 1 foot and change between them so you were right on top of neighboring tables and had a butt in your space every time you looked up and couldn’t leave your seat lest you be one of the butts kind of a horrible idea 💡 whom ever came up with it won’t be returning next year also set menu sucks as well as WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THE PHONE that rang and rang and rang while we were eating turn it down or change the ringer to something less intrusive all around just bad situation to a place that regularly is great food and byob positive
That’s the Let down really
Piccollo Tratoria in Newtown is our go to restaurant for authentic Italian cuisine and great service.
Great selection made it hard to decide what to get. The food was delicious. Service was knowledgeable and attentive.
Service was outstanding, our table was ready when we arrived
Extremely accommodating restaurant. If you prefer spinach instead of broccoli Rab no problem. And the special if you didn’t like scallop you could have more shrimp The bread was delicious. Soups were enjoyable. The salad was fresh. And the entrées were delicious and a nice size. Three out of four people had desserts and it was a great day
Food is good quality Italian. The table location was too close to the kitchen so there was a lot of back and forth by wait staff to get food from the kitchen to other tables in the restaurant.
I have been eating at this establishment for years and always found it to be outstanding food was wonderful service. Tonight, was quite the opposite. We had a 630 reservation and our meal did not arrive until after 830. One item was cooked too much and another item was cold. By the time the cold item was reheated, everybody else had finished their meal. I could see where we were headed when they brought the final reheated dish out and asked for the check. That took another 35 minutes. The excuse was that there was a large birthday party and everybody was busy taking care of them. It was totally unacceptable. As much as I enjoy the menu and the food, I would be hard-pressed to repeat another evening there after this experience. The waitress, when asked to describe a particular dish on the daily specials came back with a description that was vague and nondescript. I find it inconceivable, since this was a special that the waiting staff would have no idea how the daily special was prepared.
About 15 minutes after we arrived, people sat down at the tables one both sides of us and both ordered after us and were served, finished and left about a half an hour before we did. Even given the latitude that there was a large birthday party going on in another room, I still find it hard to believe how poor the service and how lame the excuses were.
Food is good and portion sizes are reasonable. Service is typically good but a little inconsistent. Worth the wait though. Order an appetizer while you wait for the main course!
Brian was our awesome waiter...prompt but not intrusive. Great recommendations! Love this place!
Food is always good. They deal with my food allergy easily. However, the noise level on a weekend night keeps us from eating there more often. Mon- Thursday weeknights are so much better.
Everything was excellent, but at times we felt like we were being rushed. We realize this was New Year’s Eve but that was why we selected an early dinner time.
The food was amazing! My only complaint is that the wait staff was extremely loud in talking among themselves... idle chatter.
We had a reservation Christmas Eve. When we got there people were standing outside the door. There were people there who had a reservation an hour before us who were still waiting for a table. People were walking out who were seated but waited over an hour and never got served. We finally left. We checked Open Table and they were still taking reservations. it was a holiday. People were there with families and it was totally out of control. They did to fix this.
Waited very long even though we had a reservation
It was very busy, as expected since it was Christmas Eve. We had a little wait but it was a holiday meal and we were prepared to wait longer so was not an issue. Impressed with the amount of people in the restaurant that they were able to get in and out in about an hour and forty-five minutes. Our waiter was so nice and attentive even after he was stiffed but the table of 10 next to us. Food was very good.
We made a family reservation for 6 on Christmas Eve expecting a nice, but basic Italian dinner. Service in the past has not been the best, but this occasion provided superior service and excellent food. Steaks and Italian dishes were superb! The deserts were incredible with the snowball and fudge cake topping the list. Thank you for a festive Christmas celebration that allowed us to enjoy our family conversation with the perfect meal!
Our server Bryan was very pleasant , however most of our food arrived not hot as if it had been sitting waiting for pickup for a while, Bryan offered to have it re heated, but the pasta would have been overdone at that point so I opted just not to eat it, the sauce was also very was very salty. The cooks in the kitchen were prepping and pounding meat the whole time we were there, it was very loud and disturbed our whole meal . My husband mentioned it to a staff member and was told they were prepping food. Th experience was a shame as the restaurant was not even a quarter full. Not sure we'll go back there.
Called and moved back the time of our reservation. When we arrived at that time were told our table was given away because I "only spoke with a counter person, not a hostess." I have no idea what that even means. We did get a table but no menus and service was very slow, it took 2 hours for dinner.
Great food..great prices and great service...ask for Greg.
We showed up a bit early for our reservation, but the were many people there without reservations that were seated long before we were. Then we were ushered to a table that was basically in the servers path to other tables. Our server was polite but inexperienced. Once the food came (after what seemed to be longer than it should have taken), my chicken was tough and the pasta was overcooked. Probably the worst Italian meal I've ever had. Overall this is not a restaurant that I will use again. There are numerous restaurants opening in the area, so I'll have plenty of others to choose from.
