Piccolo Trattoria - Newtown
There were 6 of us who dined. Most raved about the quality of the food. The specials were quite good. I had the chicken marsala and found it to be a bit salty for my taste. The gnocchi was very good.
Stopped in for their fabulous Brooklyn Pizza. It's the best. They use all fresh ingredients.
Our server, Brian, was great. Always attentive and polite.
Excellent food and great service.
Excellent value. Entrees come with salad or soup (GET THE PASTA FAGIOLI!!) and a bread basket with the most amazing tomato bread ever. Serving portions are good and the quality of ingredients is very good as well. For lunch sit in the front of the restaurant and get a plain slice or a piece of Brooklyn pie. Both awesome.
Local neighborhood casual dining at its best.
Was most recently at Piccolo Trattoria - Newtown this past week. It was a Wednesday night so not very busy and the noise level was non-existent. The food was delicious, as in previous visits. Our server, Ryan, was excellent. He provided enough attention to us to let us know we were important to him but he was never overbearing or intrusive. While the restaurant itself was not very busy, business at the take out counter was pretty steady. I have been here on weekend nights and it is quite busy then. I definitely recommend Piccolo Trattoria - Newtown and will definitely be returning in the near future.
Food is consistently very good. Wide selection of dinner options, sandwiches and salads up to fish and steak specials.
Restaurant was a bit congested and wasn’t comfortable. Too many tables crammed in a small space.
Amazing food and service. All our pasta were freshly made with amazing home made sauces. The home made gnocchi with the aurora sauce was heavenly.
Great casual dining with a little something for everyone. The Italian-American staples are really nicely done (best chicken parm around) and there are other more fine dining offerings as well (excellent porcini arancini).
Dinner at lunch time. Great sauces on veal and chicken and enough leftover for lunch the following day.
Big baby shower made it noisy but that would not usually be the case.
Very knowledgeable waiter.
This is a BYOB-only restaurant, meaning they have no alcohol on hand whatsoever. This should be advertised more clearly.
I had made a reservation and when we arrived at 5:00, the restaurant was not that crowded. We were seated all the way in the back of the room in the last booth that was next to the entrance to the kitchen and next to the area where the servers placed their orders and got plates, glasses, etc. It was a high traffic area. There was no need to seat us there because there were plenty of open tables further away from the kitchen entrance. We asked to move to a booth but there was no room for our coats and with no coat room, we had to ask to be moved again. Our server was curt and commented that everything on the menu was good but didn't offer any details regarding the entrees. (it was our first visit). The pasta entrees with rather small but the chicken entrees were quite large. The noise level was quite high at that time of the evening. I can't imagine what it must be like when the restaurant is full of customers.
Reasonably priced, quick service and very good food. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer is excellent and the vodka cappellini was excellent.
Great food, superlative service!
The food and our waiter were great! We will definitely be back.
We had tight seating near the kitchen, but our service was awesome and the food was amazing.
Our biggest issue is on crowded nights they overbook. The last two times we waited, with a reservation, 20 minutes and 45 minutes. Other restaurants manage their reservations better. Also, the young lady checking us in didn’t note it in the system and we got a “no show” email from Open Table. Open Table promptly corrected this for us. The food and service is very good. Depending on the dish, it is above average to excellent.
Nice place in a good location . Food was delicous and service was great .
The menu choices offer a big variety, the food was excellent and so was the service. The only complaint I have is that the tables are VERY close together and the noise level is quite loud. But the food was so good those things can be overlooked. And since it's a BYOB, that's even better!
Excellent food. Good size portions and a really tempting array of great desserts. They were really full and busy but the service was still excellent
Good food with VERY GOOD service! Will return in the future.
Friday night comfort dining.
We love Greg who is always our server. He is able to recommend something yummy for us. Great food and value. Also, great music on weekends.
There were four of us in the group. It was a bit noisier that usual but workable for us. Generally the food was very good. One of our group had Salmon and he found it to be a bit dry but tasty, otherwise. Another had lolli pop lamb chops and it was great. I would still recommend the place. It is a BYOB with pretty reasonable prices.
Another nice dinner at Piccollo Tratoria in Newtown. Brian (our waiter) is always very attentive.
Management goes out of their way to assure you are having a nice dining experience. A quality you don't see in many restaurants.
Always a phenomenal meal!
Excellent food with lots of options. Great Italian food and super service. Always like going here
It was excellent we have been there before and enjoyed the. Food the couple that we went with have not and could not say enough about how good the food was
We had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes in a small vestibule. Service was slow and they had a fixed menus. Caesar Salad was a few pieces of lettuce and croutons. Meal was good but not hot.
New year's Eve..very crowded..tables too close together
We went on NYE for dinner. There was a limited menu, prices were higher than normal, and the food was simply not good. My daughter sent her dinner back because it was not what she ordered and it came back exactly the same. Everything lacked flavor. My chicken was completely overcooked. The burrata was sour. I tried to speak with a manager but nobody came. I emailed them on their website and I haven't heard back. I understand that holidays are busy and sometimes things fall through the cracks but when a customer lets you know something is very wrong, do something to correct the problem. Remake the dish the right way, let them talk to a manager, take a little something off the bill. Nothing was done.
PS - 3 months later and nobody from the restaurant has reached out to offer an apology.
Food was wonderful!
The food as usual was superb. It was Christmas Eve and we had a 7:15 reservation and didn’t get seated until 7:50. It could have been sooner but they were seating people even though their entire wasn’t at the restaurant, therefore causing a delay. We waited over an hour for our food to arrive. There were only six of us and we didn’t order anything complicated. Management came over twice and apologized for the wait as well as our waiter who was fantastic. After paying our check management gave us a gift card for a future visit. We definitely will return for our usual visits, but might skip Christmas Eve.
We were there for Family Gathering. Brian was our attentive patient professional Server. The food was very good and we were not rushed which was wonderful. The decor was nice...we highly recommend!
The pasta dishes are always delicious! And, you can't go wrong with the chicken dishes. The wait service was very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant.
One out of two dishes was very good. Took too long and three "asks" to get 2 wineglasses. Very tight physically, and noisy. A number of large parties. Overall, average to good Italian.
We’ve eaten here for years and the food and service are always great.
Had the Mai-Mai Special. Fish was very good BUT served with cold vegetables! Server should be taught how to handle wine bottle and glasses. She had her hands all over where one's lips rest! Service was a bit slow and we arrived at 5:00 PM.
