Piccolo Trattoria- Doylestown
Eggplant Melanzane Parmigiana
Battered eggplant, layered and baked with Piccolo's marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. Choice of pasta.
Pappardelle pasta sautéed with chicken and sun-dried tomatoes in an Aurora sauce.
Top of line Grande cheese, fresh garlic, basil, parmigiano cheese, oregano and extra virgin olive oil.
Every aspect was outstanding. Food superb. Service exceptional; even the manager assisted to ensure all our needs were fulfilled.
Decent Italian food. Big place. Lots of seating. Good specials. Wide selection.
My wife selected the Lobster Ravioli special and was told it was not available. She then selected Capellini with lump crab meat and was told that due to a shortage of crab the cost would be $5 more than the price on the menu. She did however enjoy her third choice of an entree.
I selected Veal Saporito for my entree. This entree was supposed to include jumbo lump crab meat. The entree came with only one small piece of crab meat and the veal was tough and chewy. At least the sauce had a nice flavor.
The bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer and the desserts were both excellent.
Excellent Italian food!
Excellent food and cocktails!! The service was the best we have had in awhile (particularly since CoVid). Our waitress was top notch as well as the support staff. The manager checked in every table and was also so friendly and warm.
The only ‘negative’ was the environment or ambiance was not at all as nice as we had hoped. It was more of an upscale pizzeria type environment instead of a fine dining experience or feel. No table clothes, paper napkins. Again, food was excellent and we will definitely go back.
We were celebrating my daughter’s 21st birthday. The food was fantastic. So glad we chose Piccolo’s for the special occasion.
Weekly date night!
Ordered a glass of wine with dinner. Extremely overpriced.
What a great experience. Our server was Julia and she couldn’t have been more attentive and pleasant. Loved it! Large portions so had enough left for lunch the next day. A hidden gem!!
Sisters Birthday lunch. Very nice local fare.
Our waiter Kyle was new but very accommodating. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was inviting, and we will definitely be going again soon!
Seated quickly, food came quickly, hung out to catch up for a while, no push for us to leave. Very relaxing even on a busy Friday night. And food was great as always.
Great atmosphere, food and service for date night, family dinner or get together with friends.
Always excellent food and service. Sit at a booth if possible. Cuts down on the noise level.
No ambiance but if you want great food and service definitely go
The food is well prepared and the service is very nice. The wine is overpriced. I had the house Chardonnay and did not enjoy it.
Love the food. The waitress didn’t want to be there. It was so obvious the way she handled her customers. My wife and I had reservations for 715. We walked in at 712 a were seated right away. And then we waited until 738 for a waitress to stop by our table. I ordered a tap beer , my wife a mikes lemonade. They arrived with no head on the beer at all and no glass for the Mike’s. Things got worse from there. Just too much to list.
Food was very good, pretty crowded, servers were very busy. We’ll definitely go back!
Excellent meal and service. Love the food there. Highly recommended.
Not good. Pasta dish was messed up and two members of my party had terrible stomach pains afterwards. Overpriced and bad food quality. Do not recommend
This is a hidden gem, located in a strip mall in Doylestown. All good is freshly prepared and top quality. The menu is extensive. One of new favorite places!
Amazing Italian food
Father’s Day dinner. Food was good but service was a bit slow. They need better silverware they have the cheap “tin” kind that bends easily.
Birthday and Father’s Day- great service and everything’s as delicious!! 8 perfect meals is not easy with our family!!
We go to Piccolo often and this is the first time the meal was sub-par. They seemed to be busy and the quality and flavor of the meals were not as good as usual. Even the cocktail was not as flavorful as normally.
Although we go here a lot for dinner, last night was definitely an off night. Food was good but execution was off. Some salads came, others did not. Everything came whenever, had to ask for one dinner which never showed until our waitress, Olivia, went and got them to make it for us. Not sure if it was that for a Wednesday it was an unusually busy night, kitchen help was short or wait staff, as for many restaurants is a problem. I'm sure they'll get things back together, this is a nice restaurant so I hope they do.
Food was delicious and plentiful!
They had excellent appetizers and bread. We enjoyed the olive oil mixture used for bread dipping. The grilled octopus and fried artichokes were standouts. The white wine mussels were decently done.
The fried calamari and pizza were at supermarket level. Tasted like something they had just unfrozen, nothing fresh at all about them.
Entrées of chicken pappardelle and veal in cream sauce were heavy, but I suppose that was what one should expect. The old-time "comes with a salad/soup and a side of pasta" were overkill. Once again tasted canned. If people rating by portion, which I am sure many folks do, then great. However, the sauces and enormous portions overwhelmed any finesse the chef may have exerted on the dishes.
My favorite restaurant. Love taking my mother here.
It is understandable that on a cloudless Wednesday night, as post-COVID restrictions have begun to lift, that it might be a little slower than normal. All the better for us. Food was very tasty. Chilean Sea Bass stuffed with crab on a bed of sautéed spinach was excellent. My wIfe, and our friend, reported that their two different salmon dishes were really good. Salads that preceded were crisp, bread was perfect, and the NY-style cheesecake scrumptious. Service was fast and extremely friendly. Only complaint, the decaf coffee was subpar. That’s an easy fix so hopefully they’ll step up their Java game going forward. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious. Our party had the two fish specials and the rib eye - food was prepared perfectly. Service is what was lacking. Server wanted to take our entire order when she stopped by initially for drink orders. One of the drinks was incorrect. One of the soups was “to go” but was delivered to the table in a bowl. And that was only the beginning. Would definitely return but would ask for a different server.
Great food. We had a very pleasant experience and will definitely be going back.
Our server was slow and kept bringing other people's orders to our table. Our drink orders took 15 minutes to come (2 glasses of wine). The food is was good and we're large portions. We had the eggplant Parmigiano and Lobster ravioli. Very Good!
We had a great experience on Mother’s Day! The restaurant was very busy and the Piccolo Trattoria- Doylestown team hustled to get everyone served; they did a fantastic job! Our server was awesome and ensured that we had everything we needed. The food was excellent and we will be back!
It was obvious they were short staffed, but the server did a great job and we weren’t in a hurry. The food was so good!
My wife and I visited twice in less than a month. Food was consistently outstanding both visits; flavorful, served hot, and a terrific variety. We are (were) considering Piccolo for our son's rehearsal dinner. The service the first time was very slow, initial bread, dip and water was quick; however, it took 15 minutes to see a server and place a drink order which took another 10 minutes to receive. Waited again for the server and once the order placed our meal was delivered in a reasonable time. Manager indicted the wait staff was short due to illness. The second visit, Saturday of Mother's Day weekend, we took our daughter who was in from New York and it was a disaster. The restaurant was very short staffed, we waited 35 minutes for our first glass of wine, and over an hour for our meal. Some of the tables were getting up and leaving due to the wait. When we asked the manager he stated that half of his staff was out due to the prom. Great food, suggestion to management: only book what your staff can adequately cover. There are many options for dining in the area and poor service will drive patrons away. We will not be back for a while.
They are just very under staffed
Found this place thanks to open table while traveling through Doylestown. The service was fantastic and the food was good. It was a great place to go with my kids and they thankfully ate. We left happy.
Excellent food, waitress was very nice, had a great time. Thanks.
Excellent food. Terrific service. Good company (not that the restaurant had anything to do with the company). I look forward to going back.
