What Insiders Are Saying
Piccolo Sogno is a classic Italian restaurant complete with candlelight, white table clothes, and pure romance.
It was a perfect night to sit outside and we had a chance to eat on the beautiful patio. The restaurant was packed inside and out and valet was backed up around the corner when we got there but everyone was friendly and helpful. Service was slow but somewhat understandable with the volume they were doing....app came quick but then a full hour after for entree. The service team in front husseled all night but we left after entree as we didn't know how long dessert was going to take. Food was good. My salmon was a nice sized filet but thin and therefore just over done....easy to do with thin filets. My wife's pasta and wild boar ragu was enjoyed.
Beautiful, large patio in nice weather. Food and service are fabulous! Completely packed in this very large restaurant by 7 p.m.when we left for a show.
Celebrating two graduations. Wait staff was there when we needed them but never intrusive. We shared several first course options and loved them all. All are entrees were great—2 of us had the risotto special and t had the salmon pasta. Fantastic outside eating area! Would definitely return.
Lasagna was so good.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Always a delight but tonight was over the top.
perfect as always
love the Bronzino
forgot that valet parking is free at lunch- added bonus
Clearly having an off night. Starting from host stand through dessert.
Dinner with my customers was perfect! Everyone loved their meals, service, and atmosphere!
Great service, great food! Love the patio! Will come back! Highly recommend!
If possible, dine outside - enjoy the feeling of being in a Roman piazza. The fish was superb.
Simply the best!! nothing more to say!
Wonderful staff, and excellent service. The food was everything I'd hoped for.
Second time at Piccolo Songo and they did not fail. Excellent service and delicious food.
We had a lovely evening on the patio! The ambiance is beautiful, food is absolutely delicious! Also, the service is always top notch.
Incredible food. Great service. We were able to sit outside and the ambiance was great. Perfect night!!
One of the best Italian in town. Outstanding pasta al dente. Great seafood. Amazing chocolate dessert.
Eating inside is a great experience but definitely try to eat outside... it’s a romantic oasis in the city
This is my absolute favorite restaurant! The food is consistently delicious, the service is excellent, and the outdoor garden is gorgeous! The homemade pistachio gelato is reason enough to go there, but everything I’ve ever eaten there has been phenomenal!
It's a wonderful place to eat if you like delicious italian food. The back patio cannot be beat.
Always good and excellent service - some nice new seasonal additions to the menu. Our favorite restaurant in Chicago - especially when the weather is warm and we can sit outside. No small plates!
We have been coming here for years for Mother's Day. However, this year we had to be asked to be reseated 3 times because of bad tables. First table was in a tented area that had a very big draft and was cold. The second table was right in front of the kitchen entrance, with the wait staff running back and forth. And the third table was barely in the dining room and seemed like an extra table they put in that was almost up against the barstools for the bar and the the entrance. Where we finally ended wasnt the best either, but at that point we were just so hungry. We ended up at a table in the back, where two of us who were facing the wall had to deal with the opening and closing of the door to the back kitchen as wait staff kept going in and out.
Pure perfection every time we go here. We are never disappointed and spend most of our special occasions here!
As far as food goes, and the experience, Piccolo Sogno is as close as we have found to actually being in the North of Italy. All the cheeses are imported and everything if flavorful and perfectly prepared!
I've been to Piccolo Sogno many times over the years and it has always been excellent...unfortunately, this past experience was only fair. The host was kind and attentive but the service had plenty of stumbles. We sat for a good 15 minutes before anyone approached us and we found ourselves having to ask repeatedly for beverage/wine lists. We were sat in a room with arched ceilings which sent sounds bouncing around the room. Our food was very tasty. But service remains just as important as food in my book. Although I remain fond of this place, it will be a little awhile before I consider returning.
Fish good, salads good. Would not recommend steak. For steak i would choose a different place.
Easily one of the best restaurants in all of Chicago! Everything is spot on and keeps bringing us back for more! Great job by the entire staff!
1ST TIME TO THIS PLACE. IT IS VERY BIG. MY COMPANION HAD THE SALMON WHICH WAS EXCELLENT
I HAD THE PASTA WITH MUSHROOMS ALSO VERY GOOD. HOWEVER THE MENU IS LIMITED. NO CHICKEN PORK SHRIMP ETC. ONLY 3 FISH DISHES AND THE REST MOSTLY VEGTABLES.
THE DRINKS, ALTHOUGH VERY TASTY SEEMED A BIT MUCH AT 14.00
ALSO NO SPECIAL MENU FOR MOTHER'S DAY
WE REALLY WANTED TO SEE THE PATIO AS WE HEARD IS QUITE LOVELY, SADLY THE WEATHER DID NOT PERMIT.
The food is exceptional the service is incredible. What says the most about eating here is how much the servers and staff love working here. It’s the greatest experience for anyone. Love!
from food to service everything was great! Perfect !
One of my favorite restaurants. Food is consistently good as is service. Sitting inside represents a sound problem- it's almost impossible to converse. When their outside is open, the setting is pretty, relaxing and conversation friendly.
Yes if you know what to expect-big, crowded, noisy but delicious food. Nowhere near central Chicago
First time here, fantastic food, amazing service and atmosphere. All around great experience, will definitely be back next time in Chicago!
We are never disappointed. It is very conversation friendly. The food is great. Although it was too cold to eat outside we are looking forward to the weather warming up so we can return for al fresco dining. Their garden is one of the best spots to eat outside in the city. Tony is always a congenial host.
The Wild Boar Ragu on papparedella is worth trip alone. My wife always looks forward to Brazzino being one of the specials and thoroughly enjoyed it
Looking for a place to take your parents (or grandparents) to dinner? Piccolo Sogno might be a good choice. This place is old school. Wait staff is all men, and there are a lot of them. As a result service is very good. We went there early on a Friday night after a baseball game. Menu is traditional, not a lot of experimentation going on, but plenty of delicious sounding pastas and entrees. But (you knew this was coming), although the ingredients were fresh, two of the four dishes we ordered were not well prepared. Management was extremely gracious and responsive to our complaint. Based on that I would say "maybe" to the 'would I recommend to a friend' question.
The best Italian food in the city. Great service and atmosphere.
Excellent food, prompt and attentive service. small valet lot was convenient. Only complaint was that the wait/bus staff began snatching plates from the other diners at our table while I was still eating. I hate that. It is rude and makes you feel rushed if you are not the first one finished. Management please note...I always tip more when our waiter asks if EVERYONE at the table has finished eating before allowing the bus staff to clear.
Delicious food and great service. Consistently delicious every time. Sit in most beautiful patio dining when weather allows - it’s spectacular.
The most fantastic Italian restaurang I have visited.
Beautiful setting in the garden. Service and food excellent !
Great food, great service and great outdoor space!! Just love this place!!!
