About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Charming
Our name, which means “little dream” in Italian, was chosen by partners Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo because it had always been their dream to open a restaurant of their own. “The restaurant fits our personal goal to get to the heart of Italian wine and food,” says executive chef Priolo. “You go to Italy for simple food prepared by hand with local ingredients. We wanted to bring that experience to Chicago.”

Piccolo Sogno features a menu of seasonally fresh rustic Italian cuisine. The impressive all-Italian wine list boasts over 400 selections to pair with your meal.

When the weather allows, enjoy al fresco dining in the hidden garden patio-regularly recognized as one of the best in the city.

Starting December 1, Monday-Thursday we'll open at 5 pm rather than 4 pm.

You are welcome to bring a cake to celebrate. If you do, we will charge a $3 fee per person cake-cutting fee.

Beginning January 1, all credit card transactions will be charged a 3% fee.

Had: Caprese salad. It was very good with the 40-aged balsamic vinegar which is advertised bottom right of menu. Ravioli “Piccolo Sogno” was pretty bland and had a harder bite than Al dente. Uncooked. Needed cheese and fresh cracked black pepper to bring out the flavor. Tonnarelli “Cacio E Pepe” was a letdown for my night unfortunately. The pasta was not its usual eye appealing white and cheesy texture. It was brown with red undertones. If you let the pasta sit, the sauce curdles almost looking like beans and leaves an oily puddle. Turns out the chef is experimenting with this simple dish and add a red reduction sauce. Service was great. One server, who wasn’t ours said they did not have pecorino cheese, but overheard him tell another they had it in the back but didn’t wanna get it, so why check up on a table who isn’t yours ? Our serve was great, busy but attentive, and made up our dinner with biscotti’s.

The ambience and food were outstanding, but the service was terrible. Our waiter ignored us and it was very difficult to get him to take our order or pay any attention to us at all. As a result, I would not recommend this restaurant as there are so many wonderful options in Chicago.

In my opinion, Piccolo Sogno has consistently proven itself as one of Chicago’s top Italian restaurants since opening its doors in 2008. I also believe it ranks among the top 3 outdoor dining experiences—perfect for warm summer evenings, offering an enchanting setting that elevates dining to an art form. Each visit feels like a special occasion, thanks to its authentic cuisine, inviting ambiance, and impeccable service. The staff is genuinely attentive, friendly, and always eager to make your experience memorable. Run, don’t walk—if you’re seeking an unforgettable meal in a stunning setting, Piccolo Sogno is the place to be. It’s a Chicago staple that continues to delight year after year!

Felt the waiter was a bit insistent on getting order, we were at a birthday dinner,,, and he seemed irritated by our asking him to return,,,, and it seemed to follow through... Everything else is great,, can count on food and beautiful place to dine.

Piccolo Sogno is great Italian food served in a beautiful Tuscan style garden in the middle of the city. This ia find dining restaurant, yet comfortable…with a warmth of the Italian spirit everywhere. We had white pizza to start, the Burrata salad (split) with tomatoes, then a fish dish and a pasta (the ravioli), It was all delicious. They make you feel special— it’s a celebration everytime we are there. Special applause to our waiter (who I did not know the name of), the server Leo and to Ulysses at the door. Thank you Tony for putting together a great team and a great restaurant.
